- Having your office in the middle of the African wild surrounded by all your favourite animals sounds like a dream job right? Well we're here to help, take a closer look at what it takes to become a bus-living safari guide!
I'm currently pursuing a degree program at a university in Kenya but honestly I'm ready to quit it to pursue my dream of being a safari guide.
I surely don't know why I chose to study Biochemistry in the first place but the truth is I've seriously lost interest in it since laboratory environment is my worst nightmare. I love interacting with nature and people as well, as I get the energy and experience to deal with the personality I have. I'd like to care for the animals too. I hope one day I will get to where I want.
Thanks Steve! Good to see you on screen again......briefly
Love Steve. Missing Him Hope We See Soon...... Love Safari Live Learn So Much from You Guys... Look Get The Tracks Right.. Woot All Thanks To You GUYS. amazing thanks so much ...
You'll probably see him tomorrow. A couple of days ago James said that Steve was due back in the Mara on 7th Nov.
@@wellowwanderer7619 I heard that also. Will be great to have steve back. Tristan just went on leave and will be back in Djuma Jan.2, with a brief 2 wk. visit to the Mara first. I haven't heard anything about David tho? Maybe he's coming back to Djuma. (Hopefully)
David will be back in the Mara on 14th November according to James. I don't think we'll see him in Djuma very often because his wife and children are in Kenya.
Well, it's 12/16 and he hasn't been seen, unless I've missed any episodes.
Steve? He's been back in the Mara since this video was posted, then went on leave again and I think is due back in the next day or so, either the 17th or 18th December.
Wished this had been a career path for me in the 1970's when I was young. I would have loved it! But I've learned so much from watching SafariLive so a big THANK-YOU for that.
hi Steve.... we often talk about our time with you... and look up at Scorpio.. :)
Sadly 30 years too late for me...love watching the show every day 😍
Me too, probably more like 40 years. I Love SL.
Excellent Steve, good to see you and glad you chose guiding as a career. Your expertise shows on the screen.
👏👏
A great guide starts out as a great person. You are both
I love this
Have enjoyed watching it...its totally lit.
This would have been my career years ago had I known about it. Now I go on my own safaris and photograph wildlife all over the place. My vacation and travel plans are always around viewing wildlife refuges and seeing wildflowers.
Love The Vovo! ♥ Great Guide too♥
Thanks Steve. May not have plans right now to get my FGASA but good to know . 👍🏽💯
I wish guiding was as marketable a skill here in North America as it is in Africa. I'm living the dream through safariLIVE, though! Thanks Stevovo!
There is the National Park Service, though it's a bit different I suppose in that a park ranger at a place like Yellowstone is also law enforcement in addition to educating the public about the wildlife.
Yes. I wanted to be a ranger (especially in Yosemite) when I was little, but I don't really like the way employment is structured in the NPS and it doesn't suit my personality. Being able to guide in the private sector just seems so awesome!
I like the cartoon Steve too! 😄
Very much I want to be a professional nature guide
Awesome! What qualifications do you require for your camera operators?
Awesome !!
how long does the course take?
How do you go toilet
And how would you go about having anxiety about peeing
Why aren't you on the drives Steve? We miss you and your extensive knowledge terribly! Please come back!
👍👍👍
song at 2:00 ?
How ridiculous would it be for someone from the Midwest in the US to actually move to SA to train to be a guide? I’ve been to Africa twice, SA only once and have never felt so content as I have when I was out there.
Sounds extensive. I don't think I'd have the attention span for learning it all. Plus, ellies, birds and plants put me to sleep out of boredom, so I wouldn't be a very good guide. Heh. Maybe sometime he can show us his "papers" showing us his accolades and the like :)
those animation are weird.
All of the great safari guides we had over the years are gone. Everything has changed. These shows aren't fun any more.
