    Review about Bark River Bushcrafter I and II
    The Bark River Bushcrafter I and II are bushcraft knives we honor in our collection. Bark River Bushcrafter is a great knife for every bushcrafting task. We had struggles with the firesteel but in every other way it performs really well! As knife nerds we really like the effort Bark River Knives has done with the development of this beautiful looking bushcraft knife. Just the way we like it! No fuzz, clean bushcrafter. What is your experience? Please let us know.

    Thank you for your good comparison. I like your relaxed manner and the very practical test of the Barkies. I own a Bushcrafter I and it has been my favourite knife from day one. Great Video. Keep up the good work!

      Hej Mickey! Thanks a lot!! Yeah the spine could have been much sharper in our opinion. We were a bit surprised by that as well when we bought the knives. But great looking knives and original looks. We really like the design of this knife. How is your DBK knife performing?

    • @bbkdmprops
      @bbkdmprops Před 2 lety +1

      @@westcoastbushcrafters the DBK-knife is holding up very well. The more I use it, the more I love it. If we talk about spines…. The DBK-knife has an incredible spine for scraping wood, bark, and offcourse a firesteel. It is also very comfortable and the edge retention is top notch while still being sturdy. All in all a very capable bushcraft knife/tool.

    I have a Bushcrafter II, as well as a Bushcrafter LT. The LT's spine did need sharpening indeed, but the big boy came as sharp as it could be! It accompanied me to a LOT of Sweden trips so far 😁 (mostly central and east coast, sorry guys 😋)

      Hi Shane! Thanks a lot! Happy to hear you liked it! That is the Fjällraven Anorak No. 8 in dark olive. Best jacket I have ever bought for outdoor activities. Cost some money but the quality and design is awesome. You can wax it in with beewax from Fjällraven to make it more water resistant. If you thinking of buying one, they are quite big for its size. I always ware L size t-shirts and the M size for the Anorak fits perfect. Take care!

    Mine is the same regarding the spine. Please make a video on how to easily square off the spine without expensive equipment! 😻
    EDIT: I also took down the angle on the edge quite a bit as it came quite obtuse, but now it is super, the BRKT 3V is really impressive. Also it is rated as a carbon steel but it is really hard to rust. 😎

      We agree about cpm 3v. We have quite some knives in 3v and it is easy to maintain, sharpen and edge holding is very ok.

  • @easternadventures4254
    @easternadventures4254 Před rokem +1

    Bark river uses a softened spine. Take some 220 grit sandpaper on a hard flat surface and drag the spine across. Work back up to 600 grit to blend back in the scratch pattern.

    Great video. Thanks. I wonder what kind of steel the blades are. The spines can be sharpened, But if it's lower carbon stainless there's not much point.

      Thank you!😁👍 The Bushcrafter 1 is in CPM cruwear. Nr 2 is in CPM 3V. I think at some point we give it a try to sharpen the spine. Take care!

    I bought three Bark River Puukko knives and here is my only complaint!
    The problem is with the leather sheaths. The leather sheaths are rather short for the size of the Puukko. (The knife keeps falling out!)

    • @westcoastbushcrafters
      @westcoastbushcrafters  Před rokem

      Puukko is a nice one😁👍. Try the bushcrafter 2 sheath. Bit deeper. Or use warm water to get the sheath more in shape of the knife👍

      Bark river does not do a true scandi grind. It’s a low Sabre grind put on with a slack belt which creates a convex bevel. All bark rivers are convex grinds. A few older models were hollow ground but only a handful. This has been labeled a “scandi-vex” which Mike Stewart will tell you is not an actual grind but a name made up for the grind by the customer base. It is a zero degree convex so no microbevel. A true scandi is flat to zero degree.
