One of the most underrated trails in the Smokies. This hike has it all-historic old homesteads, vibrant wildflowers, serene river crossings, and a stunning 60-foot waterfall. Best of all, it's a peaceful escape with very few crowds!

I loved this trail 👣 It was one of my favorites. It had been raining quite a bit on our visit, and the falls were so full and looked amazing! I enjoyed your trek on this one. The graveyard is definitely worth a stop along that trail.

Great video. I hiked this in 2014 and the barn and cabin were standing. Sad to see it in the shape it is. I am glad the park is restoring it.

We have hiked to that mine car you mentioned toward the beginning of this video. And you’re right: had we not known ahead of time what we were looking for we could have easily walked right on by without noticing.
I was thinking we had hiked to Fern Branch Falls but after watching your video I realized we have not. It’s on our list now.
Added note: some friends I made while I was their mailman (last name Owenby) recently posted on FB of visiting old gravesites like this while traveling in NC. I’m wondering now if this could be their relatives too.
That steam engine is really cool to see! We actually did another steam engine hike but it's off trail. You definitely got to go back and check out that waterfall now it's really pretty!
Ramsey Cascades Falls is in the area also and it's really nice.

Guessing that trail was an old logging rail track? They create nice wide level trails.

Horsetrough Falls and Double Culvert Branch Falls in Georgia near Helen.
Honestly, I try to hike as many of the waterfalls as possible in spring and fall. They're all great during those seasons. Snow covered is nice too.

@@NickandRachel they are both on the same gravel road. It's a beautiful area. Lots of camping opportunities. Both falls are part of the headwaters to the Chattahoochee river.
