    Nygaard started in Vuokatti for the first time in the Scandinavian Cup in December 2011 and finished 101st place over 3.75 km freestyle and 62nd place over 15 km classic. In March 2012 he ran the Birkebeinerrennet for the first time in the Marathon Cup and the Ski Classics . He achieved 45th place. In the 2013/14 season he achieved his first top ten placements in the Scandinavian Cup with seventh place in the sprint in Vuokatti and sixth place in the sprint in Meråker . He ran his first World Cup race in March 2014 in Drammen , which he finished in 66th place in the sprint. In the same month he was sixth in the Wasalauf .[1] In the season 2016/17 he won the Vasaloppet China and the Kaiser-Maximilian-run . He was alsorunner - up in the Wasalauf and Ylläs - Levi races,and at the end of the season he was third in the overall Ski Classics ranking. In April 2017 he won the Nordenskiöldsloppet , the longest cross-country skiing race in the world over 220 km. [2] The following season he won the Sgambeda , Birkebeinerrennet, Vasaloppet and the Ylläs-Levi. When Toblach-Cortina -Lauf he won the second and the jizerská padesátkatook third place and thus achieved second place in the overall Ski Classics ranking. As in the previous year, he won the Nordenskiöldsloppet at the end of March 2018. [3]
    In the 2018/19 season he triumphed at La Diagonela , Jizera Mountains and Ylläs-Levi. He also took second place at the Marcialonga and the Birkebeinerrennet, winning the overall Ski Classics ranking at the end of the season . At the end of March 2019, he won the Nordenskiöldsloppet for the third time in a row. [4] In the season 2019/20 he won first places in Toblach-Cortina and the jizerská padesátka and a second place at the Kaiser-Maximilian-run , the overall rating of the Ski Classics.
