    Wow, so much great fact based info on your channel! Would love if you could do a piece on biosolids being used in compost etc. I heard about it from another channel and tried to find Canadian info on regulations but there is virtually nothing out there other than govt statements about the safety in using biosolid waste from our city septic treatment plants, mostly used by farmers as its cheap or free. Thx for making these videos!

    Thanks for the series, this is very useful. This was the first I had heard of Aminopyralid/Grazon. It's pretty scary that there is a herbicide that is used to suppress weeds in pasture grass that can then survive for years in the manure of the animals that feed on the grass. Just looking it up on Wikipedia, it seems like, in the UK, farmers can only use it if they say manure won't leave their farm...this seems like a common sense regulation. Imagine buying a compost/manure material that kills your whole vegetable garden for years on end.

    Thanks for this video - and thanks for what you're doing in collaboration with Canadian Prepper. I'm really learning a lot from your sharing. I was comparing some tomatoes that I was growing in my greenhouse with the ones outdoors and (after hearing your take on indoor gardening with CP, now I know why I'm seeing the differences that I'm seeing... or at least I have a better sense than I would have without your insights. Thank you so much!

    Thank you for this! This year I used composted sheep manure (3 years, mixed with alfalfa) and it was a mess. Also, several years ago we had spot sprayed for thistle - thought that had left as there are worms and some weeds growing in that pile. The peppers, strawberries and tomatoes growing in it are terrible- the plants that are directly in the soil with just a bit of it are doing much better. Can we fix the faulty compost? Why do some plants do ok with faulty compost and others not so much? I have a container of squash and nasturtium - squash is fine, nasturtium shriveling.

    Hi.... I saw a video from somewhere in the southern states, where this gardener used rubber mulch. He says it won't float away in their rainstorms but....can u use used, chopped up tires as a mulch??

    • @GardeningInCanada
      @GardeningInCanada  Před 2 lety +1

      You can. So the theory is that as tired age they gas off all the harmful stuff. Now I haven’t found anything to support it but that’s likely his reasoning behind it

      I was kind of shocked when I saw it, thinking about the chemicals in the rubber but if that fades away, u would save a pile of money if u used that mulch instead. What a way to re- purpose tires....

      @@GardeningInCanada okay get him to double the lighting overhead & have moving tracks to simulate arc of sun. For you; make a raised arc on ground by the corner of your house. Place lots of small mirrors into it & focus on a wall, now try growing something a little more tropical in range. Obviously in the position it catches the sun's travel throughout the day.
