- In this video I test my Traxxas Slash 2wd (Aka) “The CHEAPEST Traxxas Slash Project” for the first time since shoe-gooing the body and installing the New RPM “Clip-Less” Body Mount System. I Beat the Living Crap Out of It really putting the Slash to the Test!!

Rpm body mounts are a pain to deal with. In the end went back to body clips. Found out it will always pop off during any good jumps.
I was very disappointed! 😕
Maybe try the cheapest Granite project 🤔. From what I can tell those body mounts are junk! Love your videos Nolan!! They are so funny!!
Appreciate it. Thanks man!
We will see about some new rc cars. Not sure about a Granite though.
Glad I seen this video before wasting my money. RPM is either hit or miss. I prefere the traxxas HD A-arms because the Rpm flex to much and pops hingepins constantly.
Yeah I was disappointed by how easy it came off
Try goo gone on the body for the shoe goo
Thanks for the recommendation!
Please try the cheapest stampede project!!!!! Would love it
We will see….maybe
Try glue gone to get to it off the body or just leave it on it will ware off after a slide or two
You might be right about that lol 😂
Lighter fluid should get the goo off of the body. Put some on a rag and try to wipe it off. Pretty sure it will get it off.
Thanks for the tip!
cool bashing
Thanks 😊
As for the mount put a long screw through the shock tower and the mount
What’s the long screw for?
@@RCKnockout to screw it to the shock tower on the 2 bars
@@cbossplayz3555 gotcha
what is your gearing setup?
Try wheels and tires off the rustler. They are a bit wider I rarely flip mine
Do they come in contact with the body though?
One sec let me find my stock body. I cut out a buggy body for it
@@RCKnockout it fits pretty good. Will bottom out in the back with big jumps. Front look to be no problem.
@@rileywalker9862 good to know thanks!
Sorry that Clip-Less body mount system didn't work out as advertised. I was thinking of getting it but not after seeing this.
It’s all trial and error. Rpm makes good products so I thought this would be really good as well. The mounts probably will never break with how flexible they are but at the same time it’s kinda useless if it can’t stay rigid enough to keep the body in place
@@RCKnockout that explains why rpm doesn’t break
I avoided the rpm body mounts specifically cause of this even though I have all the other parts in rpm, I went the proline route and it's much better
Yep I probably should have done that as well
Was that the proline twist lock
So u have to screw them on
The way I fixed mine through it in the trash and put the proline body mounts on instead
😂 lol…Has that fix worked out for you pretty well?
@@RCKnockout ya the proline body mount are good there's no body clips it has the caps that screw on and hold the body
@@tonycope8155 are the mounts themselves pretty flexible though?
@@RCKnockout no I jump my truck 50+ feet in the air and sometimes it lands on its lid and they don't flex to much they seem really strong
@@tonycope8155 awesome! Good to know! I’ll have to look into those ones
Maybe shoego the bodymounts? Or try to make it stronger with a metal brace
I don’t think shoe goo is gonna be helpful. A metal brace could possibly work. I’m not sure though?
@@RCKnockout Or steel wire with Hotclue and after that paint it black
@@prodee1990 thanks for the ideas man! 😉👍
Maybe try to reverse the front body mount so that it attaches from the opposite side? Is it possible to turn the mount 90 degrees?
I’m not sure. It might be possible but I bet I’d have to drill new holes and it probably wouldn’t come on and off very easily after turning the mount.
@@RCKnockout well I think that turning it around would create the opposite effect, instead of coming loose when hitting a force in the front of the vehicle it will be knocked into the mount and since the mount itself is so flexible I think it will take the punches, of course if you jump and land on the back of the car it will then come of but I really think it is worth the try, don't you?
@@StopFaffin I actually don’t know if that will work. The shock tower is at a slant so i think that it would only work if it was a perfectly vertical shock tower
@@RCKnockout hmm maybe you are right, I saw this clipless body mount for the first time in your video so I'm just suggesting a possible solution to the problem from what I can see on your video but I also see the amount of flexibility in the mount so that made me think of the idea of turning it around 😊
@@StopFaffin I gotcha. No worries. I appreciate the recommendation 😉👍
Another "RPM fail" due to too-soft/flexible plastic. Exactly the reason I REFUSE to use RPM suspension arms.
I’ve heard the arms are really good though
@@RCKnockout Some lake like the greater amount of 'flex', others don't...I'm in the "don't" category. Additionally, it depends on the vehicle. A lighter vehicle, such as the Bandit, Rally, or 4Tec, it would never be noticable. With heavyweight vehicles, sick as the X-MAXX, flex like that could be extremely disastrous. And then, there's the middleweight class...Slash, Rustler, Stampede, etc...where things can go either way. It's that last grouping where you either 'love', or 'hate', it.
It sucks that you put all those holes in the body for a mounting system that doesn’t even work
Agreed
More for hard style bodies?🧐
Get the proline extendable mounts
That’s what I have on mine
@@anthonybarto4721 I definitely might. I’m pretty disappointed in this mounting system
Is this the 2wd brushed slash?
Yes. It started out that way. It’s been converted to brushless now though
Thanks for answering! How much does it cost to convert it to Brussels? Did you bought the vxl motor and esc?
@@adriancuneo6299 yep that’s exactly what I did! It probably cost $150. It’s cheaper in the long run to start with the VXL model to begin with though
And you need a wheelie bar
You think so?
Oh ya
Try goo gone to remove the shoe goo
Thanks for the tip!
Sounds like u running a 3s
Yep!
Good to know he not work well.
Yep. Unfortunately it didn’t work how I had hoped
Try to use white petrol on a piece of cloth and rub it gently
What is white petrol?
This or if you find something similar
@@panosx73 I’m not quite sure what that is though? Is it White lithium grease?
Its like gasoline..
@@panosx73 where do you buy it?
Well that rpm body mount is not a good by
Nope 👎
Goo gone sorry spell check
Will it damage the lexan though?
use goo gone to remove it
Thanks for the tip!
Omg bro your eyebrows distract me so mad I can’t even watch lol
