This is such a fascinating scene that I give massive props to BioWare for putting in. You can basically pull a complete 180 on Mordin’s character development through very specific circumstances that most people would probably not even see. I respect that dedication.
I would assume the Salarian would get a lot of shit for not participating in the war effort if Shepard cures the genophage when Wrex and Eve are alive. Especially when they'll prove that Krogans are better than the Salarians ever thought of them.
Logan Wynn The support is stronger if Kirahe (don't remember his name correctly) survives and he too thinks the dalatrass is wrong. Politics shouldn't have too much pull in times of war.

I felt horrible after shooting him, watching him trying to drag his bleeding body across the floor to the terminal and dieing before he could fix the problem. Then again I had to kill Wrex afterwards when he found out. And I killed Ashley. And I let the counsel die. And I drove Tali to suicide. ... Am I a bad person? Says the renegade.
I don’t think my Shepard would be able to handle that kind of change. My Shepard may be a spacer kid that treats the crew she had and has at the moment as family but she was also the butcher of Torfan, meaning I spared Mordin at the last minute and raised hell even more afterwards in memory of Mordin, basically the crew and admirals were the only ones receiving paragon replies.
So the only way to save Mordin is by making decisions that end in Wrex and Eve's deaths? And especially in Eve's case, a decision that didn't even seem like it could kill anyone. :/
Eve only dies if you didn't save the research from Mordin's former squadmate. As for Wrex, I don't explicitly remember any scenarios regarding this quest where he dies (unless you sabotage the cure, he finds out, and you shoot him).
While nobody wants to see Mordin die, it’s a pretty evil and selfish thing to deny Mordin his redemption and allow the genophage to keep affecting the Krogan. This is what Mordin wanted, this is what Wrex needs, and I think it’s a good thing that this goes through unless you make renegade and selfish choices. It had to be Mordin, somebody else might’ve gotten it wrong.

You know what option is actually the best for your army? 1. Saving Wrex in ME1, keeping Mealons data and heal the genophage (full paragon option) is worth 755 points. You get the urdnot clan, the other clans, wrex, some krogan mercenaries and krogan soldiers. 2. Saving Wrex in ME1, destroying Mealons data and heal the genophage is worth 705 points. The krogan clans are weaker if Eve dies and she only survives if you have Mealons data. So if you want to help the krogans, just keep the data in ME2. 4. Saving Wrex in ME1, destroying Mealons data and betray Wrex and Mordin is by far the worst option. You will get only 525 points. 5. Killing Wrex in ME1, keeping Mealons data and heal the genophage is worth 675 points. Wreav is weaker than Wrex and you don't get the krogan mercenaries. 6. Killing Wrex in ME1, keeping Mealons data but betray Wreav and kill Mordin (very renegade option) is worth 825 points. So for your army this is actually the best option but you have to kill two of your friends for that. 7. Killing Wrex in ME1, destroying Mealons data and heal the genophage is worth 625 points. Not only this isn't much strenght for your army but you also can expect that the galaxy will have a new war with the krogans after the war with the reapers, especially if you pick the red ending for ME3. 8. Killing Wrex in ME1, destroying Mealons data and betray Wreav is worth 800 points. It's also the only way to keep Mordin alive. Is it worth it? Mordin is an awesome character but he is very old for a salarian. He will die in a few months or maybe years after this war anyway. While the krogans will extinct in the future. Maybe the green ending can save them but Shepard can't see the future so it's still morally wrong.
On my playthrough I always save Wrex and cured the genophage. I can't sabotage the cure if Wrex is alive, the price you paid is too high, morally wrong and just not worth it in the end as you will lose krogan support if you betrayed Wrex. But I did (once) sabotage the cure when Wreav is in charge. Unlike Wrex, Wreav is a total d-bag the only thing he cared about is revenge.

When Mordin Screams "I MADE A MISTAKE!" You can hear the hatred in his voice, the pain. He knew the entire time that the genophage was a necessary evil, but he never truly forgave himself for making it. He hates himself for what he had done. And he knows destroying Malins data cost Eve her life. He wants to make things right. And do right by his friends. If not for the war he would have gone up there and I honestly don't think anyone could have stopped him. Best character.
you can't. the only way to save Mordin is for Eve to die(due to having deleted Maelon's data in ME2) and for Wreave to be in charge via Wrex's death on Virmire
I love that version of Mordin and Shepard's shroud encounter. Mordin saying "Understandable, but not acceptable." and of course "I made a mistake!" really hit hard. I also find it interesting that Mordin asks how the Krogan are doing when Shepard calls him at the end. You can tell the genophage is still eating at him even then.
Ugh, Wreav truly is insufferable. My worst, most tragic playthrough I'll do one day involves gunning down Mordin to try and get the Dallatrass' support and then Wrex finding out about it. Furthermore sacrificing the Quarians to save the Geth and then choosing destroy. Leave the survivors clear open to extinction by Rachni.
Well he did cause the continued genocide of an entire race and gave them false hope that would inevitably cause them to go to war but this time to their own extinction. But i guess we can be happy knowing that the Reapers were able to cause the largest chain of civil wars ever after their demise
Gorkem, it does. Especially with the Reaper War. If you don't cure the Genophage, and you don't choose the Synthesis ending, the Krogan become extinct.
So I did this but wrex and Eve were alive and I was just trying to save mordin from dying then wrex attacked me the very next visit to the citadel and I lost all Krogan support save for grunt. But the salarian support I gained didn't compare to the Krogan support so I deleted the playthrough and restarted it.
I only do this when Wreav is the clan chief. If it's Wrex, I can't do this with a clean conscience.

I also find it interesting that Mordin asks how the Krogan are doing when Shepard calls him at the end. You can tell the genophage is still eating at him even then.
want to see the renegade version of this (never had the option myself)
Ugh, Wreav truly is insufferable.
My worst, most tragic playthrough I'll do one day involves gunning down Mordin to try and get the Dallatrass' support and then Wrex finding out about it.
Furthermore sacrificing the Quarians to save the Geth and then choosing destroy.
Leave the survivors clear open to extinction by Rachni.
What will Garrus say at 8:48 if you don't cure the genophage and you didn't recruit Wrex in ME1?
Is there a picture of Mordin's future in the extended cut's slide show when he survives?
Mordin seemed more lifeless than ever when he left the entire Krogan race to die. He would have shot himself as a moral man
Well he did cause the continued genocide of an entire race and gave them false hope that would inevitably cause them to go to war but this time to their own extinction. But i guess we can be happy knowing that the Reapers were able to cause the largest chain of civil wars ever after their demise
Yes. He spends the rest of his life making a new way to cure the genophage.
+TheLilfellah22 Genophage doesn't cause genocide idiot
Gorkem, it does. Especially with the Reaper War.
If you don't cure the Genophage, and you don't choose the Synthesis ending, the Krogan become extinct.
But the good news is he never found out because he don't
Wait, so if you save Maleon's research, can you still get both Krogan and Salarians on board, and saving Mordin?
If I had known I could save Mordin I would have done that in a heartbeat😔
So I did this but wrex and Eve were alive and I was just trying to save mordin from dying then wrex attacked me the very next visit to the citadel and I lost all Krogan support save for grunt. But the salarian support I gained didn't compare to the Krogan support so I deleted the playthrough and restarted it.
Remind me never to play poker with you. Hahaha. Garrus has some of the funniest lines in the whole mass effect trilogy.
I wish there was a way to keep Mordin alive without lying to the Krogans. I don’t wanna disappoint Wrex but I don’t wanna see my frog boy die.
Fun fact: Mordin is voiced by Doc Ock from Spider-man PS4
Edit: Only in Mass Effect 3 tho
