Each singer/artist/writer/musician etc. In reggae music is my favorite at the precise moment I am listening to them. I do not compare them...i just listen. Enjoy the music.. enjoy the artist...enjoy yourself!

Like the disciples or apostles they all had different backgrounds different ways of out reach. We giv thanks to all. We only wanted them to mature much more before thier untimely death.

    onlyjoetee, I agree with much of what you say. Bob had a special charisma that enabled him to reach out to people that other singers haven't got. However, and I guess this is a matter of opinion, but in my view Peter was a better musician and certainly a better singer. In fact I'd say artists like Peter, Toots Hibbert, Ken Boothe, Nicky Thomas and John Holt were better singers. Anyway, let's just be thankful that Jah gave us Peter & Bob.

    Your comment shows that you don't completely understand Tosh. His smoking herb on stage does not reflect him being any less committed to his craft than Marley. To Tosh, herb was a part of who he was, and was a spiritual thing that fueled the spirit of his performances, his writing, his religion, his life. You can agree or disagree with his choices, but you shouldn't equate that with his commitment. And the quality of the music he and his band presented on stage was as tight as anyone's.

    Blackwell pushed Marley ahead because he looked white. Blackwell knew it would be easier to sell his records in America than Tosh's records. Let's just say Marley fit the description a lot more than Peter. Plain in simple. Luckily when the Stones saw Peter and Bob, they were blown away (not by Bob but by Peter). That's why they signed him. I'll go with the musical chops of the Stones any day over some of the posters below....

    Marley had full weight of a label and an American PR team - Tosh didn't - Marley's look/ feel was much more accessible than Tosh's. That's it - plain and simple. Marley wrote about "One Love" while Peter wrote "there will be no peace until man has equal rights and justice." Until the day i die, i believe Tosh's passion, spirit and lyrics will have a longer lasting impact on culture/music - songs like Burial, 400 Yrs and Equal Rights will always trump Marley's "One Love" and "Stir it Up"

  • @onlyjoetee

  • @ternak001
    @ternak001 Před 12 lety +1

    I would disagree. I think Marley's song will have longer lasting impact. Tosh's songs are only about the present of which he was living in. Let's say everyone has equal rights now, ok. now what is the significance of that song? Whereas, everyone can always say One Love. Honestly you guys are just trying to find the differences in Marley and Tosh even though they both wanted the same thing. I think this is pointless bickering, it's an argument that will never be won.

    @nesianboy in every walk of life,the greater will stand before the rest,bands are no different.regardless of Chris Blackwell or anyone,Marley would have stood ahead of tosh,bunny etc because musically he was greater than them,no doubt.They were equal as people,but musically Marley was ahead of them,no question..

  • @NenadNS3
    @NenadNS3 Před 11 lety

    I maybe like Marley more than Tosh, but Tosh had an enormous impact on reggae as well as Marley. But what i don't like when it comes to Tosh is for example this performance. He performed fantastic as well as his band, but he was smoking weed on the stage, what you cant say for Marley. You wouldnt never see Marley smoking on stage, he was completely commited to what he was doing. That is important difference
