    This is a great video. If you are having problems with you passenger airbags and you light constantly flashes, there may be a very simple fix at no cost. My 2008 Nissan Frontier SE stated my seat occupancy sensor wasn’t working. I tried to reset that annoying blinking light to no avail. Before I took it anywhere to be repaired, I dug deep into all the connectors and wires which were all good. However, moving my seat back and forth a couple of times, I noticed the cable leading into the seat where the mat inside the seat was pinch on the rail which the seat slides back and forward. Moved it clear and made sure it wasn’t kinked and everything is working fine. I did need to reset to get the light from flashing. My Foxwell diagnostics unit shows no fault and airbag is fine.

    Two points from my experience of doing this.
    One, there are three similar but different parts available.
    Two, be careful when fitting the indicator stalk, there is something which works the self cancelling. I missed it and now have do my own cancelling as I can't be bothered to strip it down again.

    I’ve just received my replacement spring. Off eBay. The sellers post states it fits my car. But upon receiving it, it has another socket where I’m guessing another plug would go in for duel steering remotes…just hoping it doesn’t impede replacing it now.
    Great informative video

      Cheers Mike. I'm lucky I suppose cause back in the 90's when I worked at a Peugeot dealership I had to change hundreds of clock springs on a recall, so I got used to having your ass twitching when taking the airbag off 👍

    • @davechambers9886
      @davechambers9886 Před 2 lety

      As long as you disconnect the battery and wait several minutes you’ll be fine. Since there still maybe a little power stored, you can turn your headlights on a bit to ensure no power is anywhere in the system to trigger the airbags. Good luck. I’m getting to replace my clock spring on my 2008 Nissan Frontier SE.

    - Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON.
    - Air Bag warning lamp is on for 7 seconds and turns off, the turn ignition switch OFF within 1 second after the lamp turn off.
    - After ignition switch is turned OFF, wait for more than 3 seconds.
    - Repeat steps 1 to 3 twice. ...
    - Turn Ignition switch ON.

    • @kilipoheikekanilehua4049
      @kilipoheikekanilehua4049 Před 3 lety

      @@lukegiduz7040 I used a couple long thin screwdrivers, like the ones used for electronics, to push the tabs inside the holes on the back of the steering wheel.
      It takes a surprising amount of force to push those tabs in, and you have to use something pretty stiff. My first trys were with a plastic tool and it just bent.
      Good luck! And happy new year

  • @spelunkerd
    @spelunkerd Před 6 lety

    Nice to see this come apart. It must be frustrating to have all those hidden plastic tabs to find, without breaking any. Fortunately these steering column and multifunction switches seem to be robust. Given all the moving parts I would have expected more problems.

Unfortunately, i don't have the code for the radio, so if i disconnect the battery i will lose the radio. Instead of disconnecting the battery, could i just take all the fuses out, but leave the radio one in. Of course i will take photos and make drawings of exactly where each fuse goe where. Your thoughts will be apreciated. Many thanks, Oz.

      I don’t know this model but you have to start with a fault code scan to give you direction

      You may have a bad connection under the passenger seat, or you could have a pinched or broken wire that has been pinch on the seat slide rail from moving seat forward and back. That’s what happened to me.
