    I Agree with Frederick and all the others on how u were able to explain and show everything done in under 6 minutes!! I had been told that the whole dashboard would have to be removed in order to replace the blower fan on my 1999 GS300. Your upload has helped me out immensely and am grateful to have found your video!! Thanks again!!

    I hope you some how see this. I have a 2001 RX300 and I've been told to replace the Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor the ac cooling unit under the hood has to be pulled out. I wonder if the RX and GS are close or the same and I was given bad info?
    (The info comes from the Chilton Manual...lol)

    • @LeoSabocom
      @LeoSabocom Před 5 lety

      Square Hammer, I've never worked on a RX300 so I can't give you a direct answer on your question. Chilton manuals are typically a good source but they are general and not very detailed in their instructions. The blower motor controller/resistor should be inline (in close proximity) with the blower motor. It's usually just downstream of the blower. I would be surprised if you have to remove any AC parts to get to the controller/resistor. Take the glove box off and look at the ducting coming out of the blower, the controller resistor should be close by. The link below is of the part so you can see what it looks like. Good luck!

    Thanks for posting this vid. I hope you are able to answer this for me especially since this vid was posted so long ago.
    So i have a 1GS and it seems like my blower motor is done also. I still have heat and a lot of it while driving but no fan. Checked fuses and found 2 under the steering wheel not getting any power. Replaced the fuses to no avail. 5 days ive been within a working blower but the past 2 days including today, the blower has come on 3 times for at most a minute at a time. I do hear it trying to fire up now as well. In the end... No blower. Do you think this may be the relay or the blower motor itself needing replacement?

    • @LeoSabocom
      @LeoSabocom Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Gino, sorry for the late reply. If you're still having the issue, I would change the relay first. The fact that the blower is coming on tells me it's not the blower motor, but the input to the blower motor. Let me know how you make out.

  • @Foobiez
    @Foobiez Před 3 lety

    Hey I know this is an older video. Was hoping you'd be able to answer this question for me... I replaced my controller on my 98 gs300, whe I was putting everything back I noticed one of the two wires that come off the controller almost resting on one of those hot metal pipes that run back there. Should the wires be okay back there or should I open the section up again and see if I can route it in some other direction. I dont wanna cause an issue with the wires burning or something.
    Thanks a million, your video was what got me the confidence to do this in the first place.

    • @LeoSabo26
      @LeoSabo26  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Cameron, I'm glad the video gave you the confidence to do the job yourself. As to your question, I don't believe the heat coming off those pipes would ever get hot enough to burn through any wires. If that was an issue, Lexus would have routed the wires away from any heat source that might damage them, and/or insulate them better to allow for longevity. Additionally, the melting point of copper, which is what the wire is made of is way higher (1085 Degrees Celcius) than what a car engine cooling system produces, which is between 190 -220 degrees Fahrenheit. You've got nothing to worry about.

    Do everything have to be put back in place in order for it to work or can I test it while the blower motor and resistance is not not screwed in place and where is the fuse for both...?

    I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I have a 2000 es 300 (I was in a car wreck and it totaled my old car and someone was kind enough to sell me this car so I could get back to work) the AC works great but the heat doesn’t blow at all it feels like it’s hot by the vents but it doesn’t blow out at all. Do you have any tips to fix that? I have no clue what I’m doing I’ve never had a Lexus before.

    • @LeoSabo26
      @LeoSabo26  Před 3 lety

      Hey Laci Allen, is the blower not blowing at all when you select heat, or do you hear the blower running, but nothing is coming out of the vents? The best way to test this is to turn the blower all the way up while full hot is selected. You'll be able to hear if the blower is working or not. If the blower is working, and if you can feel some heat by the vents, you most likely have a bad servo motor. Search CZcams and you'll find several videos on how to access and change these.

    How do you test the controller?

    • @LeoSabo26
      @LeoSabo26  Před 11 dny

      These units will over time go out of specs and won't function as they should. The main function is to apply power to the blower through the different setting from low to high. I check the blower by using a battery. If it's not working, it's the blower. If the blower is good, and your climate control panel is working, it's the resitor/controler. But, if you really want to check the resistor, you need to find the specification for it and test it like this guy does it - czcams.com/video/BkeiWPxmHIM/video.html.

    Hi I have a gs3 aswell I’m expierincing an issue where I lose the hot air when running the heater in approx a min at most, when kicking it on once the car is warmed up. then blows cold air

    • @LeoSabo26
      @LeoSabo26  Před 2 lety

      Hi Mikhail, there are a few things that could be causing your issue. It could be your heater control unit, heater core, low coolant in your engine, and a few others. Check out the article below to help you check different things that may cause your issue. Start with the easy to check items, like coolant level, before you start changing parts like heater core. Troubleshooting takes time but it can save you more time and money to find what's actually broken before you attempt to fix it.

    Hi there, Mine is still blowing but seems it doesnt blow as powerfull as it used to be, i need to put fan speed at maximum. Is it the same part that may need to be replafe

    • @LeoSabo26
      @LeoSabo26  Před rokem +1

      In my experience, the fan and the resistor seem to go out around the same time. If the fan hasn't been replaced yet, I would find a good quality brand replacement (doesn't need to be Toyota/Lexus) fan but it shouldn't be a cheap $20-$30 fan because they won't last. Try replacing the fan first since it's easier to replace than the resistor. If the fan works on every setting, the resistor is probably still doing it's job. Replacing both is ideal though. Good luck, and let us know what the fix was once you get it done.

      I couldn't tell you. Toyota and Lexus often use the same parts on different models. I would make sure the part is correct for the vehicle.

    • @LeoSabo26
      @LeoSabo26  Před 3 lety

      Hey Oliver Twist, I'm not sure, but my guess is, it's going to be very similar to the GS300 location. I would look up the part first and see if it is the same part. That's a good way to know what you're looking for once you get in there. Use rockauto.com. They usually show a picture of the part so you can get the visual.

    Is it the same location for 2002 ls430?

    • @LeoSabo26
      @LeoSabo26  Před 3 lety

      Hi Dj, the blower motor resistor on the LS430 is different than the GS300 model. It's a different part. See this link - www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/lexus,2002,ls430,4.3l+v8,1387133,heat+&+air+conditioning,blower+motor+control+module+/+resistor,6557.
      It still should be under the dash somewhere close to the blower motor. However, it looks like your model has the resistor part of the blower motor assembly. I've not worked on an LS430 but I would follow the ducting from the blower motor and you should run into the resistor. Hope that helps!
