There have only been a couple drivers who attempted this post-world finals 18, Kraig Champion came close, and despite not making it the moment was so spectacular it plays on the home page for Monster Jam’s website. However they still couldn’t do it. This was monster jam’s “concord moment” - something so great that it simply can’t be replicated again.
I was there, I also captured this on video (although my footage is not on the internet so don’t bother scrolling through my channel.) And I remember the first few seconds after he landed it I simply was not able to process how smooth and seamless it was. Any new comers gotta understand: monster trucks don’t just do front flips. This is not something like a backflip or wheelie, it’s not something that a monster truck just does. I’m an experienced fan, I’ve watched the sport since 2008, I’ve been to 7 world finals: XIV, XV, XVI, XVII, XVIII, XIX, and XXI with the upcoming world finals XXII also on the horizon for me. And to this day, taking into account all the internet videos, tv broadcasts, and live events I’ve ever seen, this remains the single greatest thing I’ve ever witnessed a monster truck do.
Like you said in the intro - the run was mediocre at best. Technically acceptable but nothing exciting. And I think as he saw the clock ticking into the final seconds he knew it and thought 'I need to pull something out of my arse, there's this thing I've been practising I wasn't really ready to show it off but f*** it, we'll do it live'.
I often wonder if the dude is faking it sometimes. If he isn’t, cool! I love seeing enthusiasm for the sport! If he is, it’s okay. He still got me hyped up!
I believe he said it was intentional inspired by moves from Charlie Pauken, not really accidental but also certainly not expected. I doubt he really thought it would happen
@ericfording3556 true but when someone dose a front flip for the first time it would make everything before and after look that way take Travis Pastrana' first double back flip for instance or Tony Hawk' first 900
Even though this is one of the greatest moments in monster jam history it did *NOT* deserve the win as the rest of the freestyle was completely forgettable and just… boring, avenger had the better freestyle (and IMO the best one of the night) and he deserved the win a lot more than mad scientist
That kick ramp was the perfect width, with the perfect amount of lip, he hit it at just the right speed and angle. One of a kind flip
And the fact drivers reattempted this in future events proves that this stunt really changed MJ forever. Reminds me of 2010…

He CLEANLY landed in transition to which was the even more cool part
The move, the execution...badass...the winning results.....ssssss..
Are we just gonna ignore the dismount and the fact that he stuck the landing better than Tom did when he tried to front flip?
@@MADMAN_2415 No I won't. Tom did a complete flip and it bounced into a end-over-end roll. Lee landed it perfectly.
it was really 5 years ago wow....I remember the hype around it, even to this day my brain can't comprehend what happened. Nice video round up :)
As a man this almost brought me tears of joy and I’m not kidding, that is the most badass thing I’ve ever seen.
I was there, and that was the last World Finals I went to
*Weird Science intensifies*

1:55 "Did he give up?"
Bro was not expecting what came next lmao
Seven years later, that thing still gives me chills!
When leo Donald did that I was like no way
I won’t force Lee to come out of retirement, but Mad Scientist didn’t deserve retirement.
Especially since it was literally the very next year
@@ericfording3556 actully he competed in 2019 only In arenas tho

1:01 OMG ITS THE "hE's GoOnA dO iT" GUY FORM SAN DIEGO THAT SAW MAX D DO THE REVERSE BACKFLIP
I remember seeing this on tv my little head exploded

0:59 2:07 brilliant screams.
もはや伝説
nope, kicked to the curb after the next season
Whos ready for monster jam sounded like somebody was chasing him with a chainsaw 😭😭😭😭
He kind of does in a lot of his videos especially in his older commentary videos
I often wonder if the dude is faking it sometimes. If he isn’t, cool! I love seeing enthusiasm for the sport! If he is, it’s okay. He still got me hyped up!
That was better than max D's flip....with the contraption used to do it!!!🤦🏻♂️
Tom: After months of dedication and practice, IVE DONE IT!
Lee: I’m about to end this mans whole career
Also lee: *improvised front flip*
I believe he said it was intentional inspired by moves from Charlie Pauken, not really accidental but also certainly not expected. I doubt he really thought it would happen
Who said that it was rigged Lee O'Donnell deserved that win for a wheelie to frontflip
but everything prior was just boring

@@shadegaming5885 Travis was a stunt. Also, Nitro Circus didn't win in Jacksonville after doing the first scored backflip
@ericfording3556 so Lee deserved the win after that the first ever monster truck front flip
@@shadegaming5885 Neil and Rosalee had better momentum and consistency
All angles of the 30th anniversary stunt?
Someone at the 10th one asked: did he give up💀
2:06 OMG OMGGGGG
Hey Eric I got an idea make a monster jam lost media iceberg
made it look so easy
From who is ready for monster jam is 4k and the truck is looks like bonuty hunter
2:58 Somebody casually stole footage :')

The video could have done without the puberty blockers in the 5th clip.

I just wish he didn’t do that back flip at the end but it’s ok.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
🎉❤😮😊
Ah yes
The freestyle that was definitely undeserving
Frrr like the rest of it before this was dogshit yet nobody remembers that part
TSG, you saw it, too?
Not live but yea
Can't believe they gave the win to mad scientist because of a FRONTFLIP
It's just biased children

@@ericfording3556 YESS, I hope you talk about other freestyles (even non WF ones) that were undeserving of the win as well
Oh hell no. This totally deserves it, because no one else has been able to do it.
@@user-zx9sy5yi3w name one thing he did before that
Nah Avenger trash
