One of the Most Confusing Things About Physical Silver

- In this video I talk about silver and the most confusing thing about physical silver for new silver stackers. Silver is weighed in troy ounces and has been that way for a very long time. Troy ounces are different than regular or AVDP ounces. Troy ounces contain 31.1 grams and regular ounces contain 28.3 grams. It is assumed that all precious metals are weighed in try ounces even though they may just say Oz on them. Troy pounds contain 12 troy ounces and regular pounds contain 16 regular ounces. This is very confusing because some silver items are weighed in regular pounds and others are weighed in troy pounds. You should always confirm the weight of a large silver bar or round before you buy it especially if it is weighed in pounds.

After seeing a $1 million return from investing in stocks, I’m convinced it’s the smartest way to protect my money. Silver just doesn’t compare
luck plays a significant role more-so than the resources to thrive with investing. without it, it's very challenging to succeed.
when results are consistent, its not considered luck. I attribute this to research which was the challenging part before it led me to Emily Ava Milligan, a top fund manager, in turn she made 110k into this and counting
after I pasted her name into my browser, her website popped right up, It became clear to me, she is in high demand. Your example is rare, i wish i had it earlier to reference. Thanks for sharing
Mine mirrors yours. I'm on track again for 135 k return, working with Emily Ava Milligan sets a high bar. The results I get are apparent in no time
I have been stacking for 1 year. I heard about this maybe 6 or 7 months ago. However, the reason and details were left out. I like how Silver Dragons puts you in the students desk and explains in detail so we can understand. Good job!!! jack sends
Chinese Pandas are also less than a Troy oz. They are 30.0g. Learned that from you Silver Dragons.
The older ones are actually a troy ounce, they changed them!
And the premiums are even higher!
From 2015
I love the designs of those 1 oz Silver Panda, it has alot of fine details on it which he 30-gram ones do not seem to have
@@bezrozowychokularow80..2015 pandas are still 1 oz, it is the only year which the Chinese mint didn't stamp the purity and weight of the coin on it.
Laughed out loud at the children are weighted in regular ounces but troy ounces are used for more valuable things such as gun powder and precious metals 😂
When I first started stacking I got confused by national collector's mint and bought a quarter pound silver round but it was only three Troy Oz I learned my lesson from there thank you Mr dragons
What baffles me the most is why OZT isn't stamped on any of the coins that bear this weight. It would alleviate a lot of confusion for those just starting out in stacking or collecting.
Troy ounce is stamp on rounds
@@mikehoskin1674 On some of them, yes, but that's why I wrote "coins". I expect the government mints to be more accurate than this - there is an existing symbol for the measure and yet they continue to use to wrong one! "oz" specifically refers to ounces avoir-du-pois.
And that's why the civilized people should use GRAMS 😎
WEIGHTS.
1kg = 1000 g.
1 lb = 454 g.
2.2 lb = 1kg.
Ounce = 28.3g
Troy ounces 31.1g
12 oz = 373g 1 troy lb
16 oz 454g 1lb
Skimming 81g per lb. A sweet $81 minimum on those deals
Am American and I agree.
I hate the general imperial measures in a metric culture. I hoped the Chinese were just the first to go to grams.
Every other country besides China still uses Troy oz for precious metals too. Nice try though..
Love the content.... thank you! Keep it coming. I'm learning so much! Thank you for sharing!
Great video! This needs to be clarified by the industry big time.
Similarly, using the words currency vs money needs to start being a priority.
The government has a vested interest in the "confusion" of money and currency. They WANT you to think that the fiat currency they produce (or have produced by a third party) is money. If they let commoners learn the difference, there might be trouble. That's why they also try to make people believe that inflation is normal, and a lack of inflation is abnormal. And especially if there is deflation that it's a BAD thing. If you know anything at all about money, you know that's the opposite of the truth.
Gold and silver are real money, all else is credit
@@keithkantrowitz7591 if you can spend it for goods, it is real lmao. Was the food you got from the grocery store all fake?
@j0j0kay not the point, without any sort of backing, value is just an illusion
@@keithkantrowitz7591 Platinum, palladium or other precious metals aren't credit either.
Thanks Silver Dragons. Great information
This information on the variation in ounces for precious metals and regular ounces is enlightening!
Love the Content Guys! Thank you for what you do!
I didn't know about this! Thanks for the helpful info!
Thank you very important video dragons. I’m telling you you continue to be the best. It takes years to figure this thing out. Sell something at a pawnshop. They’re not gonna give you a troy ounce for anything they’re going to undercut you with the other way. Thank you again we really appreciate your expertise, I love you❤
Incredibly useful and interesting. Thank you!
Great video, Silver Dragons! You've helped clear up something I was extremely confused about. Thanks!!!
Thank you for making this video. It clears up the confusion on all these weights.
Thanks for your great videos SD! I appreciate you!!
Fun lesson! I think this will help many viewers! Thanks SD!!
Thanks for sharing 👍 important information to know
So glad I found this channel, as a new stacker, this is just what I needed! Thank you!
Dont forget grains, grams, and kilos, lol. I once sold troy ounces and grams of silver along with copper ounces to an LCS. That was an experience. Lol. I actually enjoy the math and research. For me, it adds to the hobby. Then there's the foreign silver coins and jewelry with their own silver content percentages. Like the US junk silver, Brittain has a cut-off date for purity as well. I have an old silver necklace with a 90 mark, that's called coin silver, lol.
Thanks for clearing this up for me!
Nice info😮 thanks😊
To sum up the video
Troy OZ = 31 Grams
OZ = 28 Grams
troy is implied sometimes, but not always.
31.1
Very poor summary and also factually incorrect.
Troy ounce: 31.1 grams
Troy pound: 12 troy ounces
"normal" ounce: 28 grams
"Normal" pound 16 "normal" ounces
The troy is always implied with the ounces, with the pounds sometimes it is a mix, as in the ounces are still troy as it is always implied but they might not use the correct troy pound when making a pound but mix them together and make a product made up of a "normal" pound that in turn is made up of troy ounces.
This is a actual summary of the video .
Troy OZ = Precious Metal
OZ = Weed
Why are some results showing 32.15 troy ounces?
@@David_1977 that would be a kilo bar. 1000grams is 32.15 Troy ounces.
Thanks so much for the education, never really thought about it x
Thanks, its good to be reminded.
Thank you very much Silver Dragons for explaining that to me,I really never understood it..Till now.. Thank you
Extremely informative video, thank you for providing a quick study in troy ounces, etc.!
Thank you, SD. I AM .. a metal-head, and I really appreciate the Troy, and ADP clarifications.... I say we decimalized EVERYTHING. It's powers of ten. However, I DO appreciate our current, bicameral system. I don't mind having TWO, .. IF ... ONE .. IS .. for precious metals, and the pharmacy. Further, I would barter my garden output in Troy Pounds, or about 374 gms.... Again, thanks-a-million.
Thank you for this information,I didn’t know this but now I do.
Great video. Took me a bit to get it all straight. You are helping a lot of people with this.
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Love the vids keep ‘em coming
Great information thank you
Nice info! Good to know. THX!
Excellent Video! Thanks and greetings from Holland! 💯
Hey Dragons,
Thanks for the great content you provide to us.
KOSTA
Just WOW!!! Thank you!
Very informative!
Thanks interesting & informative
great info thanks for sharing with us
Thank you for the info.
Thanks for this information.
I actually didn’t know about the Troy pound! Thank you so much for that tidbit of information bc it probably helped me save money in the future 🙏🏼
Also i believe the post likely exist TO TRICK PPL! Bc then they can just blame the consumers lack of knowledge 🤦🏻♂️
I always stayed away from listings abroad that said "pound" or "pounds" instead of ounces because it sounded kinda shady to me... This explains everything and confirms I was right to keep away! Thanks for sharing this. 👍
Very educational SD
Thanks!
Thanks for the info
Thank you for trying to help out on confusion of Troy ounce vs regular oz
Awesome videos 😊
Very needed educational video.
Thank you SD.
Thank you!
Excellent video. I also stay away from any precious metals for sale advertised in any portion of a pound.
Good explanation.
Always an interesting topic! I look forward to each video.
This is a great video. I saw the confusion caused by this first hand at a coin shop. Seller had 2 "one pound" rounds to sell. One was Troy Oz the other Regular Oz. Watching the seller/buyer go back and forth on the math was crazy.
SD thanks so very much for the interesting video.. to make it more confusing , kilos should be mentioned as well! Keep up the awesome content!
Very good to know Mr. Dragon. It sure can be confusing. Kilos worry me sometimes because of the way some advertising is written. Thanks for clearing this up. The fewer mistakes made the better.
Great video!
Good to know info!
Good information.
Being in pharmaceuticals, these equivalencies are natural for me, but for everyone to understand is so helpful. People who wanna sell silver need to use "silver speak". It just works better for everyone to be on the same page. Maybe less scams would occur.
I will bet that Harry can get even more in depth with it. Thank you for the info
Been getting into silver love this!
Hey Silver Dragons, this is great information, thank you so very much for sharing. I appreciate your channel so very much, partly because of the educational content. Knowledge is power!
thanks for bringing this to my attention, i had no idea.
Copper round looks pretty cool
Ugh, the pound troy just shouldn't be used. A London good delivery bar of silver is always marked as 1000 ounces troy, never as 83 + 1/3 pounds troy.
Thanks for the info ...
@S.liverDragons47 I have learned so much from you , thanks ...
Thanks for the explanation 😅
I've seen that on generic silver rounds, such as Buffalo Rounds, it says *1 Troy Oz.* on them. I guess that oz made by the government mints just don't.
Another good bit of information to help the novice stacker.
Australian opal is sold in troy ounces.
The most confusing thing to me is how a 1oz copper round is $1.50 when bright and shiny scrap copper is $4.10 per pound
Saving this video. Also, I'm familiar with YT Transcripts offered below the description. I translate international videos and because of that, I often find it helpful to press the "Show Transcript" button, then toggle the time stamp (take away the time stamp) copy the words. Then I paste in a text document for further editing and reference. Hope that helps someone.
Now That's what I call great information
If I'm buying more than an ounce (or some multiple of an ounce) I won't consider anything that isn't listed in kilos. _Of silver! Kilos of silver!_ Geez, Louise.
I think the easiest way to clarify this is density. Once people understand the concept of density then will it make alot sense. Density is the amount of matter occupied in a substance/object. So just like he gave the example of what weighs more: the 1lb of feathers or the 1lb of silver? They both weigh the same but their densities are obviously going to differ. Its going to take alot of feathers to occupy that space to equal 1lb versus the 1lb of silver that will utilize much less space. I hope this helps.
Nice Video
So close to 250k I know this channel will make it to 1 million subscribers
All the seasoned stackers are selling right when it gets going… so sad they won’t get the profits they deserve for holding so long. Premiums are nill & dealers buying back below spot… best time to buy is now before premiums go back up
I've never thought that this was confusing. Precious metals are always in troy oz., even when it just says oz.. Troy pounds are not used very often. Most larger bars or coins are 10 oz (troy oz.) or 1kg. The much larger ones are 100 or 1000 oz. or 10kg. I agree about not buying coins or bars in pounds or fractions of pounds. Though I have never come across any anyways.
I'm intrigued already:0
1 OZ of metal is assumed to be a troy ounce, unless it is stated AVDP, that is why most metals are referred to in pounds.
Useful and informative PSA. Don't mess with pounds! I can see how troy pounds (or others😅) could/would be misleading.
Thanks for pointing this out. It's a way for alot of people to get ripped off.
Literally almost did this when I first started stacking silver and was going to by a cast bar that was a “pound” I thought it was a good deal at first😂😂
That was fun!
Wouldn’t a pound of silver and a pound of copper weigh the same? They both weigh one pound. It’s like saying a pound of rocks and a pound of feathers weigh differently
I just learned something! 😊
I'm gonna start collecting Silver Maple leafs! Love them for some reason! Lol
Perfect video to play a drinking game, just take a shot every time he says ounce!
My go to for my information this guys is the silver dragon goat lol thank your my knowledgec
Silver Brittania is the most beautiful silver coin ever made!
Mexican 50 peso centenarios
Until it starts to get milk spots
They are nice. I prefer the Libertad though. We all have the coins we like I guess. lol
No way. All the milk spotting which occurs 2 weeks after receiving it. That's one coin I will never buy again.
Silver Libertad is the sexiest silver coin ever made!
Believe it or not, I learned this in 5th, 6th and 7th grade... 1966-1968.We learned this along with Roman numerals etc. Kids since have missed out on a lot of cool learning.

Let’s standardize putting Grams “(g)” after the ounce weight. Simple. Also as an American I work in machining and I cannot preach the metric system enough. Yeah inches to feet to yards to miles is fun and all but 10 x 10 x 10 x …ex is way easier. But I digress. The rest of the world agrees what a “g” weights - so put 1 Oz (31.1g) or 1 Oz (28.3) . Done ✅
madness, im gonna watch this again. with a pen handy. good info
Is Lincoln on the other side of the copper rounds you used in this video?
@S.liverDragons47 do the wheat back copper rounds that you used for your troy oz vs standard oz have the Lincoln bust obverse?
