I haven’t agreed with myself that I won’t but new stuff - but I am cleaning out this year & using what I have as a priority. It’s also been great to gift things I know I’ll never get to, but are beautiful supplies. I was looking at some of my papers that I like, but aren’t quite me. This is just what I need to do I think, Leigh. Thanks so much for the tip! I’ve been loving your channel more each month too, I often watch on Tele & forget to go back & comment, sorry. But it’s going gangbusters. So creative & inspiring. You are fab & always easy to watch ❀❀

Aw Jen, you are so kind, thank you very much. I watched your in-the-car video, enjoyed that immensely. Lovely to see the gorgeous face that goes with the friendly voice. I've been doing a lot of watching on the tv while fussy cutting etc and am quite forgetful in regard to going back and leaving comments too. xxx

And you do momigami! So glad your channel came up when I searched for momigami. Your video is the best at showing how to do it. I was given some done on a gelli print last summer and I finally got round to using it to cover a sketchbook. It looks incredible. I have arthritis in my right hand, so I may be employing Beloved for this! Tks x

I kneaded a magazine page (matte not shiny) along with you. I did get a few edge tears as i was a bit heavy handed. But such an interesting change in the paper texture. Thanks for sharing.

Oh wow! Good on you for giving it a go. It's hard to avoid the tears, particularly if the paper is a bit on the thick side. Cheers

When you do this make sure to moisturize your hands
the paper will dry your hands out sooooo badly. ❀

I have tried this once, my arthritic hands were not happy. But I do love the way they feel and sound! Excited to see what you do with them đŸ€—â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž

I love that Leigh mentioned the arthritis. We need to work out a technique or tool or something, don’t we. My hand OT suggested I try wrapping things in something else. Like a tea towel or those rubber grip sheets you can get - even bubble wrap. I wonder if it would work for momagami - because I love it, but want to do it when I’m flaring up too
 hmmmm

I agree with your concern re oils and creams. Oil will eventually turn rancid and develop an unpleasant odor. Many years ago before I heard of momigami, I folded and kneaded card stock until it became soft like leather. I had lightly spritzed the paper with water to help get the paper bendy. I figured I was sorta taking the paper back to its infant days when it was pulp. I wonder if glycerine would work. Or even cornstarch in water, a very thin mixture, as you mentioned. We think acid-free paper is desirable. Adding oil seems counterintuitive. IMO. Maybe I’m overthinking. đŸ€Ș

Not sure how glycerine would go, worth a try. Luise Janetta uses thick papers, she is very enthusiastic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.

Ancient Japanese Momigami technique consists in applying a bit of oil in your hands, rub them and then work with the paper, several times til your paper is soft as fabric.
