Katy! In Paris-oh lawdy! This helped make my day. I'm so happy that you went to Paris and shopped in those antique shops! That is high on my list and you've given me inspiration to do it this year! I was actually virtually shopping when you were walking around.I love art deco and when you mentioned pink coupe glasses that almost sent me over the edge. The whole vid almost sent me over the edge! You are so funny too-wax stamp to send a ransom note or love letter.
The markets were definitely a bucket list item. And if you can swing it, I would so encourage you to do it! I’m sad to say I did not find the pink coupe glasses of my dreams. But that just mean the hunt continues…

Chelsea was a trooper on crutches, and we made the most of it as we could at least.
The pitfalls of world travel and naive American’s. We think the whole world is as safe as home. They have pic-pocketing down to an art form in Europe. I try to research everyplace I or loved ones intend to travel to someday. C’est la vie. And hopefully a new appreciation of home. ❤

You’re so on my wavelength. I looked up the planter and discovered that the top pillow actually comes off for secret storage inside!!!!! I have been thinking about the smartest way to recreate.
@@LaughCryDIY have you seen how they dip silk flowers in plaster of Paris? Maybe you could upholster a hinged box with tassels and use plaster, paint and high gloss clear coat to get a similar effect?

Happy that you had so much fun. So many fantastic collectables in Paris. You really get a sense of what/where American designers got some of their inspiration to make their own great designs. And fun to see that indeed they are collecting 40’s 50’s era designs which got its start in America. A whole world of collecting. Lots of good brass came from India and China. That would be another fun trip. Hope you found something for Babs & safe travels ❤

It is SO dangerous. TBH, the price points are crazy unless you’re in the more flea market/swap meet area where you have to dig. Would have loved to do that, but only had so much time.

Aha! You got to the other side of the big pond. The Marché au Puces really is a fantastic place to roam all day. It is also hazardous for your wallet. Not because of the expensive pieces, their price in itself is enough to scare you away, but because of those little, reasonably priced trinkets. Before you know your bag is full of them and your wallet is empty...
It’s so true. I am so happy I was able to experience it. Good thing I only had one suitcase. I had to be more intentional. (And, boy, those prices for some things were really shocking.)

Price is something that is so discouraging. I wonder if one can still find spots that are not so spendy. Probably not in the official antique market,but maybe down some rue or another. It looks like fun though! And I hope your friend heals up quick, cobblestones are a nightmare!
I definitely wish I had more time to pick through the outdoor stalls, which house the more affordable treasures I’m sure. If I lived in Paris, I’d be there every weekend 😂

I bought a pair of solid brass antique formerly push up candleholders at a yard sale for $4.00!!! Who needs to go to Paris for bargains? The plane fare alone could redecorate a whole room the way I thrift!!! 😄

They should have a warning about Paris streets I fell on my first day -but I have a sturdy knee apparently had tissue damage and blood so I was able to bus it around to museums- still have a discoloured knee cap since August
Once the tragedy occurred and we were googling, we saw so many people writing about injuries in Paris! I’m glad you were able to power through, although the trauma remains. Poor Chelsea was a trooper on crutches, but it seems the travel gods always want to exact their revenge on us.

I love places like this but everything is just so damned expensive. To get the good stuff cheap you have to hunt for it in the French version of goodwill.
Totally. The prices are insane. If I had more time, I would have lived to pop into a proper thrift store or really dig into the bins in the flea market. Still glad I scored some treasures. But yeah, lots of price tags were making me sweat.

That flea market is literally for the riches...way too overpriced, it's perfect for the rich and famous and also Home Designers looking for rare or particular items for their clients...the real flea markets are the ones in the street laid out on the ground, great bargains that you can afford. (born in France I never liked that flea market, great if you're rich ...but I'm not lol🤣)
Totally know what you mean. I’d been warned about the prices, and it is absolutely for the elites furnishing chateaus and estates. I would have loved to dig into the proper flea market, but just didn’t have enough time to sift through on this trip. Maybe next time…
