I managed to aquire +GFAP astrocytopathy as an autoimmune mediated response from Covid with ataxia. Methyl prednisone, Rituximab infusions, and especially physical therapy seem to have had the most positive effect on my recovery. Thank you, Dr. Witek for your informative perspective.

Since I have history in my family with Diabetes Mellitus 1, Chron s and Spg4 ( my dad has It) is the transglutaminase cross reactivity with glutamine that creates the toxicity of the Gad 65 antibodies in celiac disease too or in celiac ataxia is the Tg6 the villain that cross reacts with the Purkenjee cells ?

I have celiac disease with mthfr polymorphism ( never been tested for Gad65 antibodies) and Hereditary spastic paraplegia spg4. Since I improved after 6 years with a gluten free diet ( seronegative and at the beginning I was diagnosed with non responsive celiac disease) how do I know if my ataxia was due to celiac or due to the spastic paraplegia?

Hello. I am in Argentina. I need help with my son, with "idiopatic" ataxia since he is 14 (now 18). Can you please let me know who to write to in your association? Thanks a lot!
