I always thought that the automated in-car announcer for the Ginza Line was the cutest and most natural. Thanks for reviving my memories of more than 10 years ago (2006)!
Thanks for uploading this. I used this subway line before 2013. The car at that time was the same yellow car as the current new 1000 series cars. I remember that it was a connection of cars of the type that seems to have been manufactured in the 1950's and cars after that.

Thanks for your comment! It's indeed a little bit sad, but to be honest, Shibuya has always been a place that never stops changing. I still remember when I took these videos in 2013 that I just missed the old iconic terminal of the Tokyu Toyoko Line, which has just been connected to the Fukutoshin Line on a deep underground level. And who knows how Shibuya will look like in 10 years. If you get the chance to visit, I'm sure that you can still enjoy the overall atmosphe of Shibuya :) And if you really want to see the 01 series, you can add Kumamoto on your itinerary ;)

Please watch your feet. ________________________ After the train has stopped: "[station name, station name] desu. Ashimoto ni go-chui kudasai." This is [station name]. Please watch your feet. (At this point it is also possible to tell some connecting lines at this station. This would be for example: "JR-sen, Hanzomon-sen wa norikae desu." Please change here for the JR Lines and the Hanzomon Line. ) "[Ichi/ni]-ban-sen no densha wa [Asakusa/Shibuya] yuki desu." I think it's always kind of difficult to compare urban transport systems as there are so many differences in structure and operation. In Tokyo the metro lines are generally shorter as in NY, but most of them have through running services to other suburban railway lines. Also in Tokyo the metro lines usually have their own tracks (with two exceptions) and differ in technical parameters (voltage, overhead catenary or third rail). In addition express trains on metro lines don't play such a big role as in NY, these services are only offered on three lines (two of them partly), but they are pretty common on the many suburban lines in the whole metropolitan area. So I don't think there is one clear and fair answer to that^^
I don't know if there are any units that are expected to be preserved, but at least ther will be an exhibition in July in favor of the 30th anniversary of Tokyo Subway Museum that will feature the 01 series. Nevertheless according to more recent information the entire 01 series is going to be withdrawn in fiscal 2016.

This video is from 2013 when both train series were in service, but the old 01 series were in the majority while there were only a few trainsets of the new 1000 series running. You can see the 1000 series trains at 9:40 or 14:18.
