That EGR cooler should be dry and almost clean, with shiny metal visible. All of that soot and oily mess is a very bad sign! The only time I've seen one like that was a car that had the DPF gutted.

I have tried it with a few different types of chemicals. Sometimes it works and sometimes not, depends on how badly blocked they are. It depends on how much time you have between removal and refitting, replacing can be so much faster for a garage 🤔🤔

Hi mate, unfortunately the turbo replacement did not resolve the burning oil problem on this car.

@@kennedysgarage3281Hello I have Skoda octavia RS 2.0 TDI 2017 CR, I pulled out EGR cooler and turbo. Turbo will be rebuild in two days, there is a plenty of axial play. How do you solve problems with blocked EGR cooler? Do I have to buy a new one? Its possible to clean it somehow? The reason why I pulled out turbocharger is oil consumption, it was about 950 mL per 1000 km. We changed pistons etc., we rebuild the cylinder head, oil separator is new as well, after all of this oil consumption went a to 830 mL. The issue is DPF control light comes onafter about 400 km, after some time car fails to run regeneration a falls to limp mode. What do you think about this? Could it be a blocked EGR cooler to cause failing regenerations? Temperature sensors, diff pressures looks ok. Thank you for your time

@@vojtechpenkava949 a blocked egr cooler triggers a P2002 Dpf efficiency fault code. But yes is the cooler was blocked & triggered an engine management fault it would inhibit Dpf regenerations. I have tried clean egr coolers with differing chemicals and it sometimes does work. Replacement might be the best solution but cleaning is well worth trying. I would also recommend getting the Dpf cleaned when it’s off. All that oil burning would most likely leave a lot of ash content in it 🤔🤔🤔
