Run a hacksaw or band saw between the blade and the old scales to salvage the original ones. They looked like they were in very good shape. Yeah the music needs to go.

Really nice job! Just wondering...why don't you use clamps while working instead of holding it with your hand?

I turn the thing so many times trying to get different angles that a clamp would take t tremendous amount of time to constantly adjust. Thanks for asking, that was a great question.
