The UK is not Pakistan or Sri Lanka. We are the sixth biggest economy in the world. It would be pretty easy to cut taxes without increasing spending and do all the rest as well by burning green regulations, cutting back on wasteful spending, and also cutting back on the size of the welfare state and other monopolies govermment has that it has no business being involved with such as the media and healthcare.
People( mostly from India) labeling Sunak as Indian are doing a disservice to him. He is British and saying he is Indian will prevent Britishers from voting for him because they'll also see him in that light.
Is he British? Or is he edging his bets? It is unclear where his loyalties rest. He has a US green card (just in case I guess), he also has dodgy links to China and the CCP something Indians shouldn't be best pleased about. And as for the UK he has trashed our economy and hiked taxes on us.

If you can find it check out Truss's meeting with Sergey Laverof before Russia's special operation started, the woman didn't have the brains to study the geography of the territory she was about to discuss and told Sergey Laverof to send troops and tanks back behind the Russian border........they were already behind their border at that time.......shows the level of intelligence needed to be in the running for PM.
I watched that. I think she outclassed him. He even walked off the stage and left her. From that she has had my full admiration.

Yesterday I got my grandson a McDonalds double cheeseburger, a small fry and a small Mcflurry and it cost me $9.78. DISGUSTING.
Inflation is causing a lot of issue in the world ranging from food shortages, diesel fuel and heating fuel shortages, baby formula shortage, shortage of and price of available cars, the price of housing. It's all coming together and could lead to real disaster toward the end of this year.(or sooner) .

Tories don't care, strangely, about these characteristics. It's the Tory party members who vote in this contest between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, not the wider British public. They focus much more on money and winning power. Who can beat Labour is likely to be the key issue for them.
Historically the Tories have given us the youngest ever prime minister (Pitt the Younger), the first Jewish prime minister (Disraeli) and the first woman (Thatcher). All were chosen because it was thought they could defeat the enemy of the moment - and they all did. The Tory party is utterly ruthless in this. If they think Rishi, an Indian, will deliver victory against Keir Starmer in the next general election then they will happily choose an Indian.
Ethnicity has nothing to do with it, there were more ethnics in this leadership contest than there were white men. Sunak is unpopular with Tory membership because he raised taxes & isn't committing to lower them.

He furloughed businesses during the pandemic, he sorted out the October payments due to the rise in gas/electricity bills.
