I'm glad you focused on the old oddities of Silver Dollar City. Most folks don't notice anymore.
thats cuz the rides are so good
It’s funny because I was there that day and walked past him talking to the time traveler guy and it’s how I found his CZcams video
My brother helped build the time traveler. And the boat ride where you can squirt eachother with guns, at the front of the enterance on the boat it says "ricky phalen" on it in black. My father passed away and its a tribute to him because he built rides there for years. Cool little fun fact
Silver Dollar City is my favorite place on the planet....i am a long time seasons pass holder and visit about every 2 weeks (sometimes more) for the past 40 years. I never get tired of it. .you managed to capture a friend or two of mine in this video...lol....look forward to seeing the rest of your videos. Thank you, Carpetbagger. Grandfathers mansion hold many memories of my dad, who took me when i was small, to me taking my kids and now my grandkids...a part of my heart will always reside at that park.
More Animals Less People look in their schedule online. I recommend going when there isn’t a festival in progress or a holiday. Tuesday’s are usually the least busy day.
Doc Harris is long time family friend. I am glad that you got to speak with him.
I worked on a television show called Kellys Kountry Junction with Terry , he is a great guy
The guy playing Doc Harris is a good friend of mine. He’s definitely the hardest working person in Branson. He’s literally had multiple jobs daily for over 30 years and he loves every minute of it.
Yess! Finally silver dollar city. Lol i been buggin u in streams about a vlog. N my fav part as a kid. Grandfathers mansion!. My 1st time at silver dollar city. I didnt go in grandfathers mansion because the old man in the top window scared me! Lol. Great vid.
Love your sense of humor Jacob. Great video!
so happy you went to branson, been going every year for 21 years. Great place filled with great people and things. I love silver dollar city
That cave is such a big cave that the amount of people doesn't matter!!
Thanks Jacob, What a Great Place. I was there about 10 years ago. Be safe in your travels
Looks like a place I could really enjoy myself! Thanks for sharing this adventure Jacob!!!
Jacob, Great video as always! In Pigeon forge the park was Rebel Railroad then Goldrush junction then Silver Dollar City now Dollywood.
Looks like an awesome park. Really liked Grandpas house and the water clock. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
Loved your vlog. So many childhood memories from 1970 walking through Grandpa's Mansion with my Mom and Dad. Bought me one of those wooden cover wagon kits there. Still have it. The water tree thing is a pun on maple trees. You know, they tap maple syrup from trees, so they are tapping water from them there water trees.
I absolutely love your content, keep up the amazing videos!!
Fun fact: The time traveling doctor you were talking to is Terry Wayne Sanders. He's a long time employee of the park and even has his own plaque on the back of the jail where he used to be the sheriff. All around cool guy.
Keep up the great work stay positive my friend
was there 30 years ago has changed alot love the shops where they make homemaid stuff like candles and glass blowing and the had great fudge
So cool to see you in my area! I live just about an hour outside of Branson. My family and I used to visit SDC on the regular. Not so much anymore as me and my siblings have gotten older, mostly because of time and money. We love going during their festivals, they always have tons of fun food and events. I’m actually out of state this week though! I’m glad you enjoyed your time in the show me state!
I’ve been there once when I was a kid and need to go back, loved that place!!
My favourite place!!!!!! Thank you for going
Love this!!! We spent many summers here!!❤️
Grandpa needs to fix the foundation of that home!
Abandoned amusement park Dogpatch USA is 45 minutes south of Branson, as well as the United States first national river, the Buffalo...plenty of elk to see down there as well in Lost Valley near Ponca
Someone bought Dogpatch and they’re fixing it up.
Wow silver Dollar looks so fun to hang out with friends and family. Jacob you are so lucky to go to these interesting places. I have been busy as a bee. 👍🏻😺
Yep, waiting for the rest. Me n family went here many many times when I was a teen n young adult.
My home statecof Missouri....enjoyed replay thanks 😊 ☺️
Just saw your new video of Silver Dollar City with the new Fire In The Hole dark ride. Cant wai to compare a 5 year difference!!
Welcome to a missouri kid's road trip vacation ,lol. The mansion was my favorite, and I have numerous photos of me and relatives posing in that coffin.
Very funny! Liked this mucho good.
Interesting place. Looked rather peaceful for a theme park. Thanks for sharing.
OMG I’m from Arkansas I always went to silver dollar city as a little kid!! The memories!
I would have tried the Time Traveller roller coaster!
It would have been fun for me!
Thank you for making s video, that others can't really get out and do much.
I like the mountainy, and cowboyish look to the Silver Dollar City theme park!
My favorite ride there is Outlaw Run. Great coaster.
Geez Jacob wish I’d known you were coming here. I could have met you with a free pass and 2 meal vouchers and hotel voucher. Hope you enjoyed it. Welcome.
Amazing video !!!!
I remember going here as a kid. Such great memories!
between 1977 and 1986 the Pigeon Forge park was known as Silver Dollar City (TN) andI spent a lot
Of time there until ownership changed and it was rebranded as Dollywood and new. Attractions were added.I also went to the Branson Parkin the 80's so there were two Silver Dollar City parks in two different towns in two different states!
The folks from Silver Dollar City are still part owners of Dollywood ! Dolly became only became part owner in 1986.
That place looks cool, reminds me of Knotts berry farm in buena park california
My first trip to Silver Dollar City was in 1964! (I was 5 months old and don't remember very much)
Dr. Horatio is Terry Wayne Sanders and he plays like to 6 different characters at the park. Plus does the side walk art in the morning. He's a Branson treasure! He's been there my whole life.
You are a riot, Jacob! Grandfather's mansion was magical for me, as a kid. Glad to see everyone enjoying it, still. SDC-pure fun!
Hey Jacob! Love your videos! I do have to add a correction from what you called The Professor's Mansion in Dollywood\Silver Dollar City. It was called The Inventor's Mansion and I've held a grudge against the park for years for removing it.
I enjoy watching you. You're a "Big Kid"at heart❤
Neat place! Love it!
Lol. I love all these things. I still have to go into grandfathers mansion every time I go. Since I was a little kid. They used to have a treehouse near there that you could go up in.
Bucket of truth, lol, A UCB reference in a carpetbagger video.
I've never once understood the bucket....Great video!!
Loved Grandfather's Mansion when I was a kid. Surprised you didn't mention the connection between Silver Dollar City and the Beverly Hillbillies!
Yep. I got a photo of Granny and Ellie May standing in front of the hotel. If I remember right. They filmed three shows there.
Wow, I'd love to visit Silver Dollar City!
Love the best videos on CZcams
The "time traveler guy" also does other things around Branson and also on t.v. for Branson
This was so cool
What a cool park!
My favorite place on earth! My parents started taking me there as a baby, and I’ve continued to vacation there regularly as an adult!
I believe before Silver Dollar City was a theme park, the Beverly Hillbillies made an appearance there for their show and granny jumped off the balcony of the hotel (which is now the ice cream parlor) on the main square. Also, the entry way to get to American plunge and wildfire, there is a restaurant next to it. There is a manmade bluff behind the restaurant that used to be a waterfall. You used to be able to walk a short path to it that leads you under the waterfall. It’s sad that they now blocked the path and I’m not certain if the waterfall is there anymore but they put strings of lights replacing the water during Christmas.
It was already a theme park before then
Its peek partytime. LOL
Good video. The reason that it feels so similar to Dollywood is because the Herschends, who built Silver Dollar City, bought the park in Tennessee, renamed it Silver Dollar City, and then modeled it in the image of their established park in Branson. Blazing Fury at Dollywood, for example, was a copy of Silver Dollar City's Fire in the Hole. Dolly then bought into the park years back and split ownership with Herschend. I think she technically owns 51% or something like that, but Herschend still operates the park.
SirWillow Hey there, Good Morning!
afternoon. :-)
SirWillow Gave your channel a plug, hope you don't mind. I'm coming over there to see what I missed, later!
Dollywood doesn't have Terry Wayne Sanders. That is a big difference.
I will never complain about people helping spread the word about it. Very appreciative. Carpetbagger has a pretty neat channel as well
You did it! Glad you covered some of the similarities!
“What wickedness, lies, in, grandfathers mansion”
Can u show a video of you going thru dollywood please? I've been to sdc many times, I love it there but I'm curious about dollywood
Kinda cool to see something from near where I'm from. :)
Woohoo! I'll be there in 3 weeks!
Not that I've been, or that they have a historical connection, but it seems to have a similar feel to Knott's Berry Farm, too.
Cre80s yes it does, but if you haven't been to Knott's, or the West coast, for that matter, you wouldn't know.
I haven't been to the west coast? Well, you'd know.
I hope you rode Fire in the Hole!
I love Terry Sanders, the time traveler.
Cool :)
Did you get any Kettle Corn or Taffy? they are a must try at that park.
When SDC TN first opened the attractions were nearly identical
Loved the cheesy German accent on that one guy. Classic.
That first mirror you were looking at with the lights that turned on and made it look like the lights went down a long infinite tunnel was sold in furniture stores during the 70's as art.
ABC+Q: Anything but caves and quilts! Enjoyed the video.
"What's going on in here?" Children are shrieking for no reason? You can be excited and NOT shriek like that!
LOVE SDC
Are there good emergency exits in grandfather's house? The crowds in there and the darkness stress me out. (I was in there once and don't remember, but also remember wanting to get the hell out )
Thumbs up!
If you were a McCoy you would understand lol good vid
Luv the kid saying, "I see the basement" in Grandpa's upside-down bedroom!
fun fact the window at the front of grandpa's haunted mansion moves on it's on showing grandpa looking down on you I always loved this place since I was a kid granted things have changed a bit in the msnsion.
also that mirror used to have a spooky old man behind as it light up but now hes sadly gone. and John's room usually sounds like a poker game is going on the opposite side of the door!
I was there in like 2005, I was so young. The weird mansion looks the same
Ah, Silver Dollar City. Used to go there so much in the '90s and early '00s that I knew where everything was. Not just the rides and shops, but EVERY bathroom, and employee areas too, haha! There were some neat hidden spots too. Marvel Cave is the best; hope you eventually did go... then again I like caves a lot :)
Honestly, having been there in 2012 and 2014 after not going for ages, I can safely say they've lost their way. So much of what made SDC unique and interesting has been replaced by boring theme park junk you could find anywhere. Kind of feels like, when Celebration City closed, they felt like they had to try to make up some of their loss by recycling the stuff in a place where it didn't belong. It's a shame... I think a lot of people in younger generations don't care about those unique experiences.
Things I miss from SDC include Big Jack's Sandwich Shop (still the best muffaletta I've ever had), Geyser Gulch (seriously, what wasn't fun about shooting foam balls at people?), the ORIGINAL balloon ride from Tom Sawyer's Landing (where I made my first memory... they've repainted it and put it in the new fireman themed area), the neat little nautical shop with scrimshaw and pick-a-pearl, the Ozark Marketplace back when it had all the themed sections like little "shops", the woodcarving shop being right on the corner of the main right street across from the glassblower, where it belonged, World-Fest (the best festival), panning for gemstones, and the giant Christmas tree that played David Foster's Carol of the Bells... now those were some memories, and I'm only 30.
Thank you for taking us places we can’t go 😁
If you want to do something interesting, take a trip to Diamond City AR.you can dig for diamonds and any diamonds you find you get to keep
That is actually Crater of Diamonds state park in Murfreesboro , Arkansas......Diamond CIty, Ar. is a beautiful place on Bull Shoals Lake, but it is two different places. :)
Love silver dollar city, I live 10 min away😎
They need to bring back that mansion to Dollywood!
Don't forget the Homestead Pickers at SDC....
Terry the tour guide.... AKA Terry Sanders in your video... He is a staple in Branson
I grew up going to Dollywood every year and now I take my son dozens of times through the year. He loves 'aww-wood' 😂
5:36 Now we know how the Carpetbagger can travel so quickly! He has clones!
"Hey Steve! Ah sonny, why he named a camel!" - Bucket of truth
how many miles do you have on your traveling car
I have a suggestion of a place to go:Camden park it’s a super old amusement park And I go to it every summer I can’t recall where it is though I live in Kentucky and it only takes 3 hours to get there i believe it’s in Ashland
The "Don't look in this hole" gag is as old as I am. It used to have a scary image in the peephole that would usually get a jump out of the kids/girls. Unfortunately, your video shows the picture has been changed out
I went to a truck stop that had attractions in which you were asked to look into a hole. I won’t be going back...
What was in those holes
Kennedy Thomas Penises
I love getting notifications 4 days later....
At the mirror that showed many copy's of him I would have done a kickline with myself
Was just there...
What about Fire in the Hole? I remember that ride kinda because I remember it being scary (I was around 6 yo)
my youngest who just turned 8 is finally over his fear of baldknobbers, lol.
James Newman That’s good! I had to do research online about baldknobbers and found out they’re actually the good guys that saved ppl and helped inforce the law a long time ago, but was only available for a few short years.
Grandfather either has poltergeist or needs an exorcist. Or both. Weird.
Cool vlog on channel CZcams
