  • Terry Davis (author of TempleOS) demos his SimStructure physics simulator.
Here he makes a PID controller (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PID_con...) based on math from the book "Numerical Recipes In C".
PID controllers are found everywhere today. They control rockets and even a simple espresso machine like the Lelit PL41TEM.

It took a change of generation (or 20 generations in Vivaldi's case) to appreciate their greatness. And in the internet nothing is ever truly gone.
For example, if there comes a time when computer programs can be regarded as a sort of art, Terry will be regarded as an avant-garde artist way ahead of his time, and perhaps a founder of a genre. GTA physics engine is HAVOK, a program like simstructure requires quite a lot of CPU usage for math calculations to be as realistic as possible, meanwhile GTA doesn't makes the same amount of calculations because cpu must do other things (logic, AI, rendering, etc) so to prevent all the workload beign heavily bottlenecked to the cpu the physics calculations may have be already pre calculated or just "nearly as accurate" physics, also take in mind PS4 and Xbox One consoles gen had a weaker cpu compared to Cell PS3 so from GTA IV to V the physics were downgraded thanks to that cpu generation being weaker.

He's a testament to how powerful passion and purpose are in a person's life. I've met some incredibly intelligent people that I imagine have 140-160+ IQ, but likely won't achieve anywhere near the amount Davis did, because they lacked the conviction Davis has kept alive for most his life.
It's saddening to see him go and know that outside of him programming his life was abysmal, but he found his reason to live. Nietzsche said that "He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." and Davis is the most perfect evidence of that being true.
