Totally lost me with the "end the electoral college" BS. Just when I think Jimmy's finally woken up, he blindsides me with that kind of stupidity. What Jimmy doesn't seem to understand is that we aren't one gigantic, monolithic country - we are a collection of 50 individual states that have agreed to unite - but not to the extent that each one loses all sovereignty. Individual states having different electoral weights is, at the end of the day, a check on federal power. But to Jimmy's argument that "if you want to win with the popular vote, then win over the people of New York and LA!" - okay, whatever, but then what's the point of having individually recognized states at all if they're under the thumb of a monolithic government? Furthermore, there really would be no reason at all for politicians to make the effort of visiting anywhere between NY and CA - why would they, when NYC and LA can decide everything? And how is that solving the problem of some states being so deep blue or deep red, that voters in those states may feel like their vote doesn't count? If anything, by abolishing the electoral college, you're taking that problem and making it 10x worse. What tripe! Jimmy, you're lucky I wasn't in the audience that night, because you definitely would've gotten a huge boo 😂

He and the team have such an incredibly biased view of Israel that it borders on strong anti-semitism. I'm not a Jew but I READ history and know that the current portrayal of Israel as a murderous, genocidal state is a mirror image of the truth. They joked about Kristallnacht the other day and it was clear that Jimmy didn't know what that was. It didn't stop him from mocking a Jew referring to it as a warning (the breaking of shop windows of Jewish businesses is happening again in NYC). Long live the Constitutional Republic and the Electoral College. 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧

I agree 100%. I think if people my age (25) and younger begin to understand this, that would be chaos for the two-party charade in DC. I'm suspecting Jimmy might be going through a story arc where he might realize why democracy is truly evil and is thrown around as a buzzword. I've realized there's a reason the founding fathers granted every state in this union a Republican from of government. The idea is the individual represents their own minority and their rights aren't to be subjected to the will of the everchanging majority by a popular vote. It's wild because the founding fathers historically would be considered left-leaning for smaller government, no police state, no central bank, etc. and so would I, but as of today, we're considered on the right. It's very ironic.

They would just always be New York, California, Florida and Texas so neither of the dominant parties would need to campaign anywhere as neither can barely move the needle in these states. The number of electoral college votes is already loosely coupled to population anyway.

Jimmy, you're referring to voter fraud and corporate voting. Decades ago, the federal government decided that corporations are people, despite them *not* being people and are simply goals that people cooperatively work towards, and that allowed the rich to put extra weight behind their own votes. Eliminating the Electoral College without replacing it with ranked choice voting, blocking corporate votes and big money in politics, and letting that decide the state vote won't address that problem. This isn't a problem we can solve with a singular solution, we have to batch it.

Jimmy, there is a purpose for the electoral college. The founders DIDN'T want a democracy because democracies always implode. That's why we are, in theory, a constitutional republic. So each state is supposed to be its own independent entity. That's why we have 50 different elections for president, not ONE. If we left it up to a popular vote then the entire center of the country can be ignored and campaigning could be done just in cities. That's why we have the system we have and going to a popular vote would simply accelerate our descent into tyranny. All democracies eventually vote themselves into tyranny.
