“I designed, I devised the visuals using AI. I think it was quite interesting to explore the world of AI for an artist. And also to answer to all this fear that we have, that every innovation is always scaring human beings, probably as human beings, our human DNA - to think that the past was better, the future is necessarily worse. And it’s not true! Otherwise we wouldn’t be here this morning to talk together.”

STORYLINE:
Artist Jean-Michel Jarre on Thursday discussed his upcoming concert titled “Bridge from the Future” in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The French electronic music pioneer will headline the Starmus festival where he will perform on the city’s famous UFO bridge. Jarre promised his performance was "not just another music concert", but would be a true "civic event in the heart of Europe.”
Jarre designed the visuals and light-show for his performance using AI, calling the current fear of artificial intelligence “unfounded”.
“To think that the past was better, the future is necessarily worse. And it’s not true! Otherwise, we wouldn’t be here this morning to talk together,” Jarre told reporters at a press conference in the city.
Fellow musician and co-founder of the Starmus festival Brian May will make a guest appearance during Jarre’s show.
“We’ve been tossing ideas backwards and forwards. I am a guest in Jean-Michel’s production. This is totally a Jean-Michel Jarre extravaganza, something extraordinary and epic," May said.
The Starmus festival is the brainchild of astrophysicist Garik Israelian and Queen guitarist May, and was designed to bring together art and science. This year’s edition in Bratislava will not only consist of Jarre’s concert, but will also feature lectures by 50 astronauts and scientists on climate change, AI and cyber security.
"Bridge from the Future", the opening event of this year’s Starmus Festival, takes place on May 12. Jarre’s concert will be livestreamed on his own CZcams channel for free.
