Yeah, I'm in for that for a small bowl with just a half of a flake at a time. Loopy is right. It's not a typical nic-hit either. By the way, that retrohale is trying to retrohale Bowser's fireballs while re-making the One Ring in Mount Doom.
And yup... a teaspoon of raw sugar makes it all right in 5 minutes

This and old dark fired are two of my favorites. I’ve enjoyed every blend of MB’s I’ve tried. I wish I enjoyed aromatics because I’m sure they do those well too.

Man, I love your videos. Found you a few years ago when I started smoking a pipe. I appreciate all you do for us in CZcams land and the joy you bring myself and I'm sure many other people. That being said I havnt tried ODF but I'll tell you what, Peterson's 3 p's put me down as I say against my ego lol but its my favorite blend as of now. Keep piping buddy.

I remember having a dark Cuban seed Nicaraguan maduro cigar once that was ridiculously too strong. The flavor was incredible but oh man was the nicotine strong, I couldn't even get passed half of it and I had to tap out. I did not want to feel gross all afternoon. My friend who was smoking one with me ended up actually getting ill later from it because he powered through and finished his.
Yeah nicotine sickness is no fun! Stop while you’re ahead :)

I briefly smoked a pipe a number of years ago, but quit because every time I'd find a tobacky I liked, they'd stop making it! When they stopped making D&R's Picayune, I quit! Feeling nostalgic for the pipe lately, I saw on some forums where they say that this HH Rustica is a good substitute for Picayune- so I just ordered some yesterday. We shall see. I like the strongest tobaccos. (Ordered some SG 1792 flake, too- one of the ones I used to like that they actually didn't discontinue)

Oh well... I should have known better... yesterday I smoked again one flake of the Rustica in a little flake pan pipe and really felt the hammerfall. Holy Moly! The next couple of days I don’t touch any pipe.

Hey Hobbiton! That drunk dizzy feeling is definitely the nicotene. To answer your question about if people can smoke bowl after bowl and not feel it. I know for smokers (cigarettes) and dippers, it starts out that way. I chased the buzz and after a while of using tobacco, that feeling no longer happens, but you create an addiction for nicotene. Now when I smoke strong pipe tobacco, I don't get the buzz, I eventually get "smoked out", which is like somebody eating a large dinner but then pushes the plate away and says "I'm stuffed". So after smoking bowl after bowl of Rustica (which I've never smoked before) eventually you get your "fill". But the buzz of nicotene doesn't exist really at all for me anymore. So yes, I could probably smoke rustica and not get a buzz, no I probably couldn't smoke bowl after bowl without any kind of feeling (fullness). I hope that clears it up enough for you to understand! (This is just my personal experience with being a dipper/smoker for a long time).

Hey Kevin! Well I picked up a tin of Rustica and have had a couple bowls so far (not back to back) and I will say it is a strong tobacco. As somebody who doesn't get the spins anymore, I am getting a bit dizzy off of this! I learned that the Rustica species of tobacco has up to 9% more nicotene than the species Nicotiana. I'm not super dizzy, but the nicotene in this stuff must be high for me to feel a bit dizzy. It's definitely a wonderful tobacco! Again, thanks for putting out enjoyable content.

Very tasty blend Kevin. I have quite a lot of it in the cellar. If you smoke a lot of VA/BUR blends it is no so strong. When the N-vitamine kicks in, sugar, sweets, sweet drinks help. Thanks for sharing, Janez

I've been searching our local stores for Sir Walter Raleigh when I saw 6 cans of your Mac Baren HH Rustica. I think they have been sitting there for a while. I almost bought one but after watching this I decided I didn't need a loopy afternoon.
Tins of HH Rustica are a rare find! You can enjoy the flavors of anything in moderation. Just don’t smoke the last 3rd of the bowl and I bet you’d be fine on a full stomach :)

Currently smoking some 2023 HH Rustica, I heard they decreased the amount of rustica tobaccos in this year's blend and I'm wondering if thats why I'm not feeling loopy like you yet! Intensely delicious and rich though, without a doubt. Better be for $55 a tin!
To answer your question on strongest tobacco, when I was a teenager I had a bag of pure rustica tobacco, loaded it into a cheap pipe with a huge bowl, and inhaled every puff. Talk about spins!
I'm a newer pipe smoker and I am learning what to stow away/age and what not to. Would you age HH Rustica?
Sure, you could. Doubt it has the same level of aging benefits that you get with virginia based blends but I bet it still ages well.
I have a few tins of HH Rustica in the cellar and a jar from the first tin I opened. I smoked it in the smallest pipe I have and didn't even load a whole flake. I could only smoke half of the bowl and had to throw in the towel. I have a decent nic tolerance too. Other powerful blends I have smoked are Samuel Gawith Brown #4 twist and Peterson's 3 Ps. Five Brothers is pretty strong too, but not like the others I mentioned. Chocolate always works great to make me feel better when I overdo it on the ol' nic. It was a fun video to watch. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Your skin was significantly redder by the end of this 😂. It has an unbelievably delicious flavor profile. I couldn't smoke it a year ago when I got it. Blew my head off and blasted the inside of my mouth out. I wonder how much it's calmed down after 1 year, but not enough to give it another try. Maybe I'll wait yet another year. Fun video good sir.

Hey Kevin. I tried pipe tobacco about 10 years ago, liked the flavor but didn't UNDERSTAND it. So after only smoking a bowl a few times, I tossed everything. I don't even remember the tobacco I had but I remember it being an aromatic. I kick myself because I didn't know it would last forever! Anyway, I listened to all of the LOTR and The Hobbit audiobooks, then watched each of the movies after each book. It reminded me of the existence of pipe smoking. I am a nicotine enjoyer (I used to smoke cigs, used to vape, started nicotine pouches a year ago and sticking with those). I got into cigars last year and I like them, but I find many taste the same and there are only a few I truly like. After going through Tolkien's work and the films, I decided to UNDERSTAND pipe smoking. Thanks to Muttnchop and you, I now understand. I have been pipe smoking for 3 weeks now and really getting it. Just wanted to tell you a little story. :)

As soon as the hotter days are gone I’ll open a tin of this or Bold Kentucky. Pretty similar imho, but the Rustica just adds something nice. After you open a tin and jar it for 6+ weeks it’s perfect.

Im smoking cup o joes maricoxi in a Meerschaum. I think the strongest I can remember is haunted bookshop but im kind of a nicotine lightweight. I think if I try anything stronger next time I will have a snickers bar close by. Stay safe and well.

I used to smoke cigarillos a lot about 30 a week and so I got the rest of the tobacco to help me cut back on smoking it and I still smoke it throughout the day pretty much quite a bit and even at my tolerance of nicotine which is very high I still get a heavy buzz from it I always get a NIC buzz from it because it's so strong even with a bigger pipe😂
Traditional tobacco pipe smokers do not inhale, it’s a tobacco tasting experience. Nicotine is not the goal, but it does still show up in strong blends :)

Well my friend strong work..I would imagine that stuff would kill me out right..;) .. I am smoking Cuban mixture from LJ Perreti in a cob...it is there oldest blend, has 7 different tobaccos in it cigar leaf and Kentucky being 2 of them.. truly a masterful blend, probably mild to most but a solid medium for me...strongest I have smoked would be Sansepolcro...

Also a tip I have if anyone ever smokes nicotine Rustica is that it works best out of a hookah with a small bowl because the smoke is passed through along with tube and is then filled to do water says less harsh from the throat retro exhale like you did in the video I do it all the time my water pipe or my hookah and it gives you more of an intense Buzz to😄

Very entertaining. I love Rustica! I don’t know about all day, but I’ve smoked a couple bowls back-to-back with no issues. I think the black/brown Irish twists are just as strong. I don’t really notice nicotine in pipe tobaccos. I’m sure it’s a body chemistry thing, because it’s the same for any burley/Kentucky, but red Virginias burn my mouth sometimes something fierce.

This reminded me that I have a few tins of this and I've never tried it. N doesn't effect me much although I do recall smoking big and burly and getting a bit dizzy. Best advice for any newbies who might see this, when it hits you hard, put it down for a minute. It's meant to be a good experience not meant to make you puke!

I don’t know, nicotine doesn’t have too much of an effect on me unless I’m deep in my cups.
I’ve never tried to smoke multiple bowls of Rustica because it is too precious to me. But I’ll agree it’s is one of the few that gave me some kind of body high. Old Joe is another one, as well as, surprisingly, Elizabethan. Again only after I had several drinks. Normally I’m cool.
Also I’m pretty sure that Mac Baren will put more out at some point. So keep your eyes open.

strongest tobacco ive had was dokha (not sure what brand)... look it up, stuff is wild. I smoked it with some middle eastern dudes, its smoked in tiny bowls that you are meant to inhale and suck down in one hit😵😵. Its gnarly as hell. if you smoke it standing up you will have an experience similar to your basketball story.

I did, in fact, load up something strong for this. It's mostly Dark Bird's Eye with about 1/4 to 1/3 a bowl of Dark Fired Ready Rubbed on the top. My record with Rustica is two bowls in a row. But mind you, I only retrohale.

Indeed. When I began smoking a pipe, I found that I wasn't getting much taste from tobacco. Aside from what might have been attributed to inexperience, this was mostly due to the fact that my sense of smell is a very faint mere ghost of what it was when I was younger. Most things I can no longer smell at all, and taste has similarly diminished. (I've read this is a precursor of dementia, but I'm grateful to be able to say I'm holding up quite well in that realm.) I discovered I experience a lot more taste from tobacco if I retrohale, so...that's what I do.

I'm pulling on HH Ready Rub Old Dark Fire with you today in a Peterson Rosslare XL90. I have to say that it is one of my favorites that I have tried yet. I am on year 3 of my pipe journey trying to find the right blends for me. I started with aero's and they were good, then moved to some burley's that I truly love. I had purchased a bunch of plumb pudding while on sale in hopes the reviews were correct and I have to say that I am a cult follower. I don't know what it is but through my journey the bolder the flavor the more I love the blend. I will say now that HH ODF-ready rub is now one of my favorites. On my pipe journey, I have never really felt a nic hit, as I have chewed Copenhagen for years, but with this stuff, it's the first time that I have felt any nicotine buzz. With that being said I would love to find some Rustica to try if it is even stronger than the ODFRR....but it seems that I am too late to the game. I will say though that I have come to really enjoy the HH line, and for anyone out there that is coming over from the chewing tobacco side, I strongly recommend the HH line of products to scratch that itch. They have loads of the flavor you are looking for but don't shy from plumb pudding either, it is fantastic.
To go on further, I wish HH would do a Bold or ODF Kentucky with some cedar, this is what I love about Plumb Pudding so much, the taste of cedar and the smell of my beard after a bowl. The beard note is literally the addiction that brings me back to Plumb Pudding. WE NEED MORE CEDAR!

Yes Rustica and ODF are two of the stronger pipe blends out there. Your journey is common for many: aros to englishes/burleys, because the flavors are more bold and recognizable…more “in your face”. Virginia blends are more subtle and nuanced, so for many, those blends are appreciated later down the road…and for many of us they end up being the favorites.

I have to say, these tobaccos are like beers. Stay with me here....I picked up some kingsfold and cowboy coffee from country squire, and by gawd, the Virginia's are a whole different ball game. I love bold dark flavors, but at the same time these Virginia's are excellent as well...with a hint of kentucky. I have to say I am super surprised at how cool the virginia smoke was, I think I have a problem where I dont let the heavy blends dry out enough. Keep you videos coming, we all enjoy them

Mr. Jensen from Mac Barren explains somewhere in a video how they make the flakes. It seems to be more or less the original tobacco the settlers found in the new world from the local Indians. They smoked it obviously for ritual purposes. That is legit indeed... 😄

I can’t imagine what that stuff would do to me. I stepped into my first non-aromatic blend - early morning pipe (which I’m understanding is supposed to be light, and I got light headed. I must be a major light weight!

Yeah, this isn’t just about high nic. It’s the combination of high nic AND high load of β-carbolines. Nic alone is totally different. The “remedy” is: slowwwwww dowwwwwn lol

Huh, now I'm thinking I gotta grow some rustica - good news is, this plant is really tough and undemanding. It's basically a weed that grows anywhere, whether you want it to or not. :D
And one of the strongest tobaccos I've ever had... I think Picayune by Daughters & Ryan qualifies. Gave me that long-forgotten "nic overdose" feeling - feeling all wooly and cozy.

If you get no nic hit from Rustica then you likely won’t suffer from nicotine sickness with anything. That’s cool :)

Great video mate, suffering for our entertainment 🤣 I've never had the rustica had the bold kentucky and the old dark fired very nice tobacco I smoke those, gawith brown Irish and 1792 flake regularly I'm quite lucky I don't really get ill effects but I've heard chocolate is a good remedy any excuse for some chocolate is a good remedy for something I suppose 👍

Yes, Mac Baren HH Old Dark Fired is one of the strongest blends out there. To help avoid nicotine sickness be sure to eat a full meal beforehand and stop before the last third of the bowl (or the last third of the cigar). You’ll find these two tips help tremendously.

I was a vaper for about 5 years, those usually use 5% salt nicotine. I feel like i could handle this and would love to try it some time as I dont usually feel nicotine when im smoking my pipe. The strongest I've had is probably my mixture 365 ir nightcap (cant remember how much that has)

Hey buddy. Funny video! Haha! I’m not sensitive to nicotine at all. I have 4 more tins of Rustica, and was smoking Gawith & Hoggarth Brown Bogie, and it doesn’t effect me at all. Now…, I’m sure if I smoked back to back bowls of them, I might feel it probably. Who knows?, may have to try! Lol have you ever had any of the Gawith rope tobaccos?

You just exhale the smoke through the nose. You don’t inhale, you just draw the smoke into your mouth and blow it out of your nose instead of letting it fall out of your mouth.

Rustica must be what people are talking about when they say "wacky tobaccy" lol. I havent had rustica, strongest Ive had is vincent manil semois. Its totally different than anything Ive had so far.

I have not had hh rustica, but I do have samuel Gawith brown number 4 finest kendall twist. I can handle a bowl of it in my growley bulldog. I do feel it a bit, but not bad. Certainly not something you smoke on an empty stomach

Great question. I’ve found significant nic hit from blends like HH Rustica, Mac Baren Old Dark Fired, GLP Gaslight…but as a general rule, remember your nic comes from burleys and vapers (virginia + perique). Also, nic normally comes from the last third of the bowl, just like with the last third of a cigar. You can find nic in red virginias but virginia blends that hit hard are more difficult to find these days.
