Brixham, Devon: Balamory on steroids - Seaside town ruined by eyesore hotel

- PLANS for a giant new hotel and leisure complex in a picturesque seaside town have been blasted by residents who claim it will block their views and throw their beach into near permanent darkness.
Incensed locals in Brixham, Devon compared plans for a multi-coloured 44-bed hotel, spa and beach-side bistro to the fictional village setting of children’s TV show Balamory.
Developers want to demolish an existing bistro and use a beachside public car park to build the five-storey development directly facing the Breakwater Beach.
But locals claim if the building goes ahead it will cast a shadow over the Blue Flag beach for 80 per cent of the day and make it harder for older and disabled residents to enjoy the beach.

There has recently been a petition with over 2 thousand signatures from local residents against this potential development submitted to parliament by MP Anthony Magnall.
Such a beautiful place, it dosent need this poxy eyesore. Greedy developers and corrupt councils are behind it.
Thoughtless inappropriate design
..If there's a car park near the beach leave it alone for cars to park this man is giving them nothing he's robbing them of something they already have ..
Its been hired by the home office already 😂😂😂😂
Feelings mean very little to developers.
Glad I don't live there. Since when is carparking not an amenity? No car park no trade or custom. Where will hotel customers park? On a carpark that denighs the locals !!
just park outside the architects house, you need a cark part for small kids and the elderly, or ask him if he wants his garden in the shade ?
London designers on LSD
The car park is an amenity, what is he on about. And this beach is the only one accessible to everyone. It's a beautiful sunny beach, no way should the sun be blocked out. The architect has no idea what he's talking about 🤬
Getting ready for the immigrant season ?
Oh look! There's a space we can try and take away from the local community!
Let's see what's the biggest and ugliest thing we can squeeze in there....
Side note - there's a huge gorgeous old building in some of these shots 😍. Resting on the hillside. Probably a hotel now I'd imagine?
They don't own it, so have no right if someone wants to improve it
@Storm.Z.4u "improve it". That's a relative term
Apparently no one there was a fan of the Teletubbies.
This development is not for the locals, usual posh apartments. 🙄
Good, that's what the place needs, an injection of wealth
@@Storm.Z.4u Leaving them in a place, where that they can't afford to live. It's happening all over the country, not remotely helpful. It's trashing communities and local economies.
thats always gone well yep, look at how lovely torquay is! @@Storm.Z.4u
i actually like the design but the location is terrible. keep the beach as is, or better yet, get rid of the other encroaching structures and return that cove to a more natural state. cant make more beaches
Greedy Toff developer...
It's been denied. But they will resubmit until they get what they want. I live just above Breakwater beach.
It's onshore advertising
What are you all moaning about .it's beautiful
Well the local council must be passing their plans
THANK you
What is the name of the beach town???
Shoalstone soon 2 b shitstone if this is real & goes ahead, hope 2 god it isn't, i'm 65 & have been holidaying there since i was 7!
NIMBYs
I don't think people really care, the entire country's gone woke, and Germany not so far behind:)
I think it looks good.
