  • The 992 Porsche 911 GT3 is nearly here, but let's not forget about the 991 and what made it so great! This is not as much a review as it is a celebration of the 991 generation GT3, and I'm glad to have finally been able to drive one. After driving the 991.1 911 GT3, I am even more excited to see what Porsche has in store with the 992!

    One of the best cars in the world, period. Great vid, Brent as always. Tomorrow is the day where the 992 gets presented. Can't wait

      I agree totally. I’ve had three and I could have afforded others but for the money the performance the reliability there’s no substitute ( where have I heard that before?)

    Amazing car. It's insanely good for what you're getting for the money.

    • @IraniIslami

      It has many engine problems. The e and f series engines are known to have finger follower issues and the car itself has hydraulic lifters causing many issues with the design. Dundon has made solid lifters for the car but you should expect to make some extra purchases with this car. Even the latest g series engines are known to fail, perhaps in lesser cases but there is still documented failures even for g6 engines on rennlist.

    • @IraniIslami
      @IraniIslami Před 2 měsíci

      There is a video on YT (look it up) where a g6 engine misfires on the track. Not sure if it is a low end failure or what. But on the comments section they talk of oil imbalances in the container due to cornering. I dont know for sure but there is a misfire and the car had a new engine installed.

    I just subscribed cause this channel is awesome and you seem really genuine! I haven't been able to catch up yet so maybe you already addressed this but where is the 458? Is the transmission still being repaired?

    • @BrentRuiz
      @BrentRuiz  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks raymond!! It has been a nightmare honestly, but we are almost there with the 458. Transmission got fixed but then one of the parts we replaced became defective, so we are waiting on Ferrari to send us a replacement.

    Love the GT3 and most 911's. But the comment about Ferrari gear box's being random made no sense at all. As I've driven 458's and 488's and the Ferrari gear box is stellar!

    How would you compare the handling and steering of this compared to your AMG GT, 458 or the 720s that I just watched?

  • @bernardo290499111
    @bernardo290499111 Před 2 lety

    Im actually very impressed you prefer the AMG GTR over the .1 and .2 GT3, but also given that you own the best sounding 458 on the planet surely the GT3’s exhaust note becomes obsolete. You should do a video doing this comparison, im saying this because I understand the GTR is such an underrated car and most people would think a GT3 is much superior in every aspect just for the sake of “muh porscha”. Cheers

    compare to the AMG GT R you own, which one is better in particular for daily? sitting on the fence on both cars. cheers

    • @BrentRuiz
      @BrentRuiz  Před 2 lety +1

      I would go with the GT R. Much more rare, faster on track (and in a straight line) and as good a daily as the GT3 (if not better)

    How will the 991.1 gt3 holds its value after the 10 year engine warranty expires in 2024?

  • @KarlFarbman
    @KarlFarbman Před 3 lety +1

    But what about the .1 GT3's known engine issues, and the fact that the 10 year engine warranties will expire in the next 3-4 years? Don't you think that could hinder resale as people wont want to buy them then and risk out of warranty engine failures? I think that might make them not such a good buy now... Thoughts?

    • @Clausewitz12345
      @Clausewitz12345 Před 2 lety

      G6xxx engines seems to be fine. You can extend the approved up to 15 years, so its 10 years warranty + 5 years approved.

    • @993mike
      @993mike Před rokem

      The engine issue on these cars is a very real thing, and after talking to several very reputable Porsche engine builders and even a good friend who’s worked for Porsche for over 30 years, you really don’t want to take a chance on the .1 cars unless you buy it for a low enough price to take your chances. I think in 2023 & 24 you’re going to see a lot of folks unload these before the warranties expire

    • @BrentRuiz
      @BrentRuiz  Před 3 lety +1

      991.2 GT3rs is a bit faster on the track but if you like some straight-line speed as well, a tuned AMG GTR can offer that better than the GT3RS. My GTR is tuned as well and I know what you mean

    GT3 or your AMG GT-R? and why?

    • @BrentRuiz
      @BrentRuiz  Před 3 lety +2

      GTR is faster, in both straight line speed and cornering. GTR feels heavier but somehow the turn-in is feeling even sharper than GT3 with less understeer. Not sure how AMG pulled that off but they did. 991.2 GT3 would be a closer match since they have nearly identical nurburgring times (GTR faster by a sec). Both are 12 seconds faster than this 991.1. GT3RS tops them both of course.

      @@BrentRuiz in your videos you say GT3: "one of the best sports cars" and for GTR: "one of the best cars"
      So which one would you pick at the end? I guess you already bought the AMG 👌🏻

    • @BrentRuiz

      For best drivers car, would 100% pick GT R on a (used) budget of 125k-150k. GT3 on a budget of 100k-125k. If I didn't have my 458 I would be itching for a better sounding car than the AMG and would aim to get a 991.2 gt3 or 991.1 GT3rs for low 150k

    • @iLLGT2
      @iLLGT2 Před 3 lety

      @@BrentRuiz agreed on all accounts... I have a 997 gt2 track setup and I think my amg gtr stock is stiffer, sharper and overall more rigid and better... how’s that for crazy eh? And gt2 makes newer GT3 feel like a dog and soft
      I think the GT3 and my ex .1 rs are good sports cars however have gone soft for hard edge GT cars if you’ve had gt cars of the past
      On the other hand it’s a huge feat of engineering to have it go fast around a track and be a good street car also, I just felt so much sensory was missing and lost, I hated electric steering also
      My 2 cents
