Your paintings are extraordinarily beautiful.
Such an inspiration.
Thank you so much 😀
I'm really impressed! All the paintings are really good, there' s beautiful light in them, nice, subtle colours, and good composition. I'm amazed that you've managed to paint 2 paintings a day on such consistently high level. A great achievement, you should be really proud of yourself!
Aw, thank you so much for the thoughtful comment! I’m so glad to hear you like them :)
Beautiful work. Love your process. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!
Very inspirational - I love your work! Now to stop watching and start painting, lol.❤
Yay, glad you got some inspiration! Happy painting :)
Beautiful work! Congratulations on finishing!
Thank you!
So pretty! Your work resembles Michael Chamberlain’s, I love his paintings as well!
Thank you! Yeah he's a great painter and a lovely person, we painted together in San Francisco :)
Hello fellow bay area painter! I love the lighting and depth you capture in your work very very well done, amazing work, very inspirational to me! Looking forward to the next video!
Hi neighbor! Thanks so much for the kind words, glad you found it inspiring :)
Beautiful stuff!❤
So you mastered a real painting - marathon with an amazing result! Congratulations! This fifty-paintings -in -fifty- days thing reminds me of Edward B.Gordon, an British-German, Berlin-based painter, who paints- alongside his usual artist work- one small (15x15 centimeters) image a day and sells it via auction on his homepage with great success. Start-price is 150€ !
Thank you! That’s great to hear. I love making small paintings like these :)
Wow, well done, I’ve done a 30 day project and that was stressful enough - and that was without a house move in the mix!😮❤
Thank you, and congrats on your 30 day project! Yeah it was so hard haha 😂 but totally worth it!
Just beautiful all of the paintings. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! :)
This was utterly wonderful. Thank you!
Thank you! 🥰
What a delight! Love them all ❤
Glad to hear it, thanks so much!
Love your work and hearing about the process!
Thanks Sindy! ❤️
All the paintings are just amazing !!

Really enjoyed your art!! Thanks for showing us ❤
Thank you ❤️
Excellent!
Thank you!
these are so beautiful!!!
Thank you! 🥰
Your work stood out
Thanks HP! :)
Your paintings turned out so beautiful! Especially when you see all the pieces together, they look like they're all telling a story. Very beautiful and inspiring! Thank you for sharing! 😊💗
Aw, thanks so much! 🥰
Удивительная работа! Я восхищен😊👏
Спасибо! ❤
Wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing also about how you dealt with your Inner Critic
Thank you! So glad you found it helpful and inspiring 🥰
Beautiful work Christina...!!!, very inspirational..!
Thank you! So happy to hear you found it inspiring 😃
Awesome paintings! Congratulations! Much success! Virtual hugs and blessings. So much inspiration!❤❤❤

Aw, that is so kind of you to say! I am so happy to hear you found some inspiration from my work 🥰 wishing you success as well!!
Awesome. Great job!
Thank you!
Very beautiful video, so nice😍
Thanks, so glad you like it!
Love your paintings! Representational yet semi-abstract…There’s a certain mood in all of your paintings…calming
Thank you! :)
Such great work - found you from M. Chamberlain's vid. Composition, lighting, color, value control, brush work, those beautiful luminous shadows and lost edges - every single painting stunning.
Aw, thanks for the kind words! So glad you like them 🥰
Just found your channel tonight and this is the first video I've watched. Absolutely loved it, can't wait to see more 😊👌
Thank you! ❤️
Christina Kent, I did really enjoy this video, thank you! I loved the variety of subjects, each painting, and then seeing all of them together. And I very much appreciated you sharing the hard times of the challenge, how you felt, and how you managed them. Excellent!
Thank you! 🥰
I'm thankful I landed on this video--what a great event, they are lucky you participated.
Aw thank you! :)
Inspiring! Working out the arrangement/adjacencies of the pieces on the wall is also part of the challenge.
Thank you! Yeah I wasn’t sure how they would all look together, I mostly tried to mix it up so that colors and subjects were evenly distributed (e.g. not putting an orange painting next to another orange painting, or a still life next to a still life). Was cool to see them all together in the end :)
Lovely..well done
Thank you!
Congratulations on this, what a project, so much hard work! They are precious jewels! You have definitely inspired, thank you for sharing:-) Good luck!
Aw thank you! Glad you found it inspiring 🥰 happy painting!
Beautiful work!
Thank you!
You are talented and hard working artist. Congratulations.
Thank you! ❤️
Totally-totally inspiring! The art is beautiful, the show was amazing, and your description of the process was so authentic and uplifting. Awesome!
Aw thank you!
Beautiful!!! I wish I could see the exhibition in person. I’m so inspired!
Thank you! Happy painting! :)
I don’t know how to praise this sort of art. I can say I like every one of them. Displayed in a grid, they looked fantastic in their rows; we can definitely see your style. It dazzled me. I wish I could have seen them in the gallery. Note to self: add art galleries/shows to the bucket list. Thank you for adding to your awesome workload by making this video. Herculean!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Haha yes it was a lot of work, but very rewarding :) so glad you liked it!
Bravo to you! What a lovely collection. I appreciate your sharing the challenges you overcame in finishing on time. I’m thoroughly inspired by your accomplishment 🙌🏽😍🙏🏽
Thanks Evelyn! It was a big challenge, but totally worth it :) have you done a similar challenge before?
@@christinakentart No, I haven't, but I think it would be beneficial for me.
Amazing!
Thank you!
❤
I've lived a bit of your story in my experience but I've forgotten the business aspect!
Amazing work💕💕💕
❤❤Love your wonderful work💕💕💕
❤❤💜💙🤝🔔👈🏼🎉🎉🙏
Thank you! 🥰
That was cool!
Thank you!
It was so neat to see them all together. You are really good at capturing lighting and how it turns simple magic into cinematic magic. Like you said, everything you see has pure beauty in it somehow. an abandoned toilet at the edge of someone's driveway could have beauty in it if you look at it right. You are such a nice gentle spirit. These pieces do certainly tell a story together. They tell the story of you in San Francisco with your cat and on your walks and the food that your body digests. very nice. perhaps i should sand the gesso. i have a canvas with gesso on it and acrylics i still haven't opened lol.
Exactly, the right lighting can make anything look magical! Glad you enjoyed the paintings :) and good luck starting on your work! Getting started is often the hardest part, but once you get into the flow it usually gets better! 🙌
My son loves to paint. Sometimes I help him get his painting done when he is not so motivated to finish his painting
Haha that is nice of you :)
Wow, i’m a painter myself & really inspired by the work you made in 50 odd days - if I was a collector or even just had the budget to buy paintings I would have hoovered up a fair few of those lovely pictures, that film was a treat.
Aw thank you! ❤️
I loved this video. I know your pain... I did a 100 paintings in 100 days challenge last year. It was one of the hardest challenges I have ever done. But you are right, the sense of pride after completing it was worth the effort.
Thank you! And wow, 100 paintings, that is a HUGE accomplishment. Well done!!
Van Gogh seldom spent more than 1 day on a painting. Of course, he was nuts. I'll spend a week on a small watercolor but I'm not trying to be professional about it. I only think about time when it starts getting too dark to paint.
Very good
Thank you!
This is so cool! Could you do a tutorial about starting an oil painting from scratch, including how to mix the solvent?
Aw thank you ❤️ sure! I’ll make a video on that soon, keep an eye on my channel! :)
Bedankt! Ik ben het er helemaal mee eens :)
Really great job! Beautiful work. Thank for sharing this.
What varnish did you use there?
Thank you! For the varnish, I used winsor and newton’s retouch varnish :)
absolutely great renditions, Christina….just got to know in LFI24 and I fell so in love with your art. Hope I can paint the portraet in this loose manner as you do. Thank you for sharing❤. Renatebasinski
Oh amazing! Great to meet you. Good luck with the portrait! :)
Super inspirational. Each one was like a little gem.
Did you know about the grid layout before you arrive at the gallery? Were you able to design your layout at home before you arrive? If so, what kind of plan did you have?
And one last question........any plans to turn any of these in to larger works?
Again, this was very inspirational.
Thank you! So glad you liked it :) I did know about the grid layout, but I didn’t plan it out beforehand. Instead I arranged them based on what felt right when I got there. And yes! I do plan to make some of these into larger works. Especially some of the city scenes. Did you have one in particular in mind? :)
@@christinakentart All of them.....lol. Just like the idea that we are going to more of these.
@@douglasriddle6447 Haha I'll give it my best shot! :)
Very enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing the process! I love the very intimate and warm feel of the 50 paintings! They reflect the variety of your style, many very Edward Hopper'ish (beautiful!) are wonderful, esp the nocturne ones, very good job. I like your Van gogh'ish boots too! The collection really shows the various masters' influence in your style, and reminds us of how important it is to "study" the painters that we love! Again, thank you for showing your intimate thinking process, it is a lovely collection of work, I'm sure you're very proud! (quick question on the MDF boards - did you use strictly acrylic gesso, if so, how many layers? I have heard that you have to put down at least 2-3 layers, and on both sides of the boards to prevent from warping, also heard that anything less than 2 layers will lead to the oil in the paint to "sink", and the finish would end up looking flat without the luster. I guess the varnish later would help.) I'm thinking of switching over day to day quick paintings to MDF, since it is so much cheaper, but would love your feedback on the prep process and finish quality. Thanks again for a wonderful video!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes, I love studying the old masters and connecting with their work ❤ For the panels, I used 3 layers of gesso but only did one side. I didn't have any issues with warping though. Maybe they will over time? But the panels were small and pretty thick (about 1/4 inch). I imagine warping is a bigger issue if you're working larger. I just used these because the gallery provided them, but my go-to is usually Ampersand Gessobord. It's expensive, but it allows me to dive straight into painting :) Good luck with yours!
@@christinakentart I love ampersand gessobords too, but find them too "slippery" for plein air or alla prima, I use them for indirect painting. I find that I need decent tooth for plein air or alla prima, thus a rough gesso is preferable for me (but maybe I'm not doing it right).
@@fsun655 yeah I’ve had that issue with them, especially when I using transparent dark paint. My solution is to use pretty thick paint and soft synthetic brushes. Do you buy panels with rough gesso, or do you do it yourself?
@@christinakentart Oh man, I'm all over the place with my support. For plein air, it can range from cheapo cut mat board (with 2-3 layers of gesso), to misc types of cotton or linen primed panels, from no name brand to Centurion to Raymar. Lately, I am trying out mdf boards. I spend more money on support for indirect studio work. I am not a good plein air painter, more a studio painter, so I don't want to spend a bunch when I'm out and about, still figuring out the best approach. Vicious cycle, right? Hah! I'm in the bay area too, hope to see you out and about one day, live.
@@fsun655 have you tried arches oil paper? I like it and it’s pretty cheap. Also that’s cool, nice to meet a fellow Bay Area painter! 😃
Great works , I would like to know if you use acrylics paints?
Thank you! These paintings are in oils, but I do sometimes use acrylic paint for sketching :)
In art school during plein air they force you to draw 2-3 paintings a day 😅
Wow, that sounds like great practice!
@@christinakentart Sure but exhausting as well. That always have been hard for me, I'm slowbro and I like to paint without rush.
Wow! Amazing work. Are these done on MDF or any other board? Is the medium acrylics or oil?
I really like all your paintings and you are an inspiration. Keep up the good work and post more videos. Best wishes from India
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so glad you like them ❤️ these paintings were done on MDF board, which I primed with gesso. The paintings are done in oil :)
@@christinakentart thanks for reply. Keep up the good work. You are a very good artist
Wow that’s amazing! Was this an Open Call?
Thank you! Yes, it was an open call through Sanchez Art Center. Are you in the bay area as well?
@@christinakentart I’m from Puerto Rico. But I would love to participate in Open Calls. I’ve been looking for Open Calls here in my area but tbh at this point I could go anywhere lol
Beautiful work. Well done. I just wanted to ask what varnish it was. Is it a particular brand? Thanks.
Thank you! I usually use Winsor and Newton's Retouching Varnish. It's a varnish you can apply as soon as the painting is touch-dry. I've heard Gamvar is another good option :)
New Sub. Here
Thanks and welcome!
Wonderful ❤️🔥 How can we learn paint simply technique as you do? Thank you
Thank you! Keep an eye on my channel, I'll be posting tutorials on painting technique in the coming weeks :)
I could go on and on about how much I love your work, but have an entirely dull question: How do you stick those panels to your vertical easel?
Aw thank you ❤️ for the panels, I stick them to my easel using mounting putty :)
@@christinakentart Excellent idea. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. 😊
ты супер
Спасибо :)
