- I've been wanting to put this one together for a long time. It was compiled of clips from the "Freshest Kids" Documentary (Shout out to QD3 for one of the illest hip hip docs to date BUY IT! www.amazon.com/Freshest-Kids-H...) also included is footage from the movies Wild Style, Beat Street, and several early 80s music videos all backed up by the classic hard hittin' joint from '84 "Davy DMX - One for the Treble". Classic B-Boy and Poppin' & Lockin' are both represented here . Peace to ALL the Originals!

53 years old and this still sound good to me like it did when I was 17 years old.
2:06 red pants.. what’s this move called?
I was born in 82 in the bronx and had a taste of a great era. Live on!!!!!!!
This video touches my heart. I'm 54 and growing up in New York city back then was truly the best experience i could of had. I'm so proud to have lived there back in those days. It made me the man I am today. Wish things were as simple these days.
52, NY, but we didn't know how good we had it and it didn't seem simple at the time.
As a bboy born in 91 and opened up for krs one this year. Thank you to those who paved this way
Good lookin out homey...
awesome, man
How could anyone dislike this classic piece of history.

Why doesn’t this song have a million likes yet? This is music and dancing at its best. This is what true definition of real is.
Because today's musick is demonic and evil and has no purpose so therefore this musick is when musick was created with love and inspiration that people in this time can't understand 😊
ONLY REAL OLD SCHOOL CATS KNOW ABOUT THIS💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍

HIP HOP IN ITS PUREST FORM!
Back in the biblical days of HIP-HOP when we were creating the culture. Everyone in this video is HIP-HOP royalty... Major props to the original DMX for cutting this vinyl "DOWN TO THE BONE"... "Free Style Breakers" Springfield, Massachusetts.
RIP George Hargrove aka Kid Bust Out you were the best. Love CAZ.
one of the greatest instrumentals ever, hands down!!
I am 50 and when I look back at this period in time I believe it was the closest we ever got to being together as a society other than the 60's which no decade in my opinion could surpass. What brought us together you ask? The music, dancing, embracing each other and accepting each other for who we were back then, which some of us are still trying to figure out to this day. I guess all we can do is look back to this period as a teaching moment in time when we could all or some of us at least the ones who enjoyed the music no matter what, rock, jazz, metal, rap, pop, punk, country, polka, and we all liked to move our asses on the dance floor, it was my way of releasing some pressure along with a few other extra curricular activities that were going on behind the scenes if you catch my drift. Finally when I reflect on my youth the one thing I do miss is my youthfulness and innocence because most of the time I went into a lot of situations without any preconceived agenda's or internet we only had each other and the good thing about that is I do see the youth today travel in packs as we did and that kept me and most of my friends out of harms way more than I can ever recall as I look back. Man, though I wish I was 17 again and be able to do the windmill kicks and spinning as we did on cardboard back in the day!!!!! We really didn't know how good we had it until we get older, but at least we were there that's all that counts!!!!!
you right this was a greeat time. Blondie shouting out flash on her record. Malcolm Mclaren hobo scratch! buffalo girls. a beautiful blend and time of people embracing each other. a great time for black youth creating something uniquely theirs. Dear Jehovah Thank God I got to experience being a teen at this time - a true blessing...
The Roxy was the melting pot.
this is exactly something ive been saying for a good long while. there was a period of our past when we didn't let something like someone's skin color get in the way of a break beat. there was positivism in the 4 elements.
Yea where's the cardboard? There were no classes....we competed on the street with other "breakers."
You sound like an awesome person to know. Wish I could drink a brew with you, but I'll sip this one in your honor...#Cheers
I'm 59... I was in New York in 1984 and radio stations were playing the song in heavy rotation! I was lucky to find a 12" single from the legendary dj store Vinyl Mania Records! This song STILL ROCKS! Thanks for the video!

@@Musical.Maze.1 Cool. I was about 12 in those days and breaking my butt off with my friends in the basement of our apartment building on a piece of linoleum. This song was incredible and my other fave was Pumpkin and the All Stars "Here comes that beat". Had a whole routine to it with this kid Dino. Being one black and one white doing some cool stuff in sync, always got the crowd going, but we were nothing next to some of the older crews, but we thought we were the shyte 😂

Historical shit right here.
Arran Boon hell yeah!
Im 17 listening to this in 2018. My dad is showing it to me. And I must say I wish I were around during the time that they made THIS type of music. Nowadays people are so closed minded and they only care about money and fame as opposed to making quality music like this. It's truly sad
Good to know we have some intelligent and sharp young ones out there! You might be 19 now but you're still a baby - enjoy it!
80's breakdancing is still off the chain in 2018!
I grew up in Brooklyn New York, when these type of songs hit the radios, I worked so hard at 15 yrs old to get my first DJ set. I am still at 40 years later.
the video content of this should be in the Smithsonian, human beings aren't like this anymore, you have to been alive back then to truly understand, but we were lucky, cause life was real back then , you could feel everything, art was still alive, and humans were still biological creatures of nature... 1Love
Love that real talk 💯💯💯💥❤️❤️

Amen brotha!!
Yes indeed..lyrical dum- dum mumblin' jumbled up on top of instant (nongratified)produced crap trap beats. Its Push-A-Button and all systems go.Going str8 pass go.No research,no creativ input,no proper dope lyrical content processing,no instrumental ingenuity, just cheat the artist & audience out of the best at what peopl can be by rewardin anyone who can run their mouths over beats with a mondane monotonous monotone sound, an added to an already problematic scenario, a professional record deal. & the success without really payin their creative dues for it is beyond the stars we grasp for.And if thats the best that is provided for the listeners then the ad brand concept of "For your listen pleasure" has been double flushed down the toilet. And if thats the case then its a glitch in the mechanics of humanity. The stuff thats on the radio today isnt worthy of spoonfeeding alligators.Remember how when u didnt like a song, but they kept playin it every day, rather u liked it or not.then you started to like it after awhile.Hopefully, let this not be the case. its not fair to any generation, who dont kno the difrence, to bombard young precious naiive ears of toxic heard compositions of creativ music. But maybe if art imitates life; then it just goes to show, life isnt worth imitating right now,bcs it sucks due to the easy way out idea of production.plus serious worldly problems a new generation of hip hop has to face these days.Especialy with no real skills to remedy them.Maybe the message in what they percieve to be music,is that this is what we all have forward to look to, from now on especialy with all thats happening right now, or atleast needs to happen in the world these days. And ifso then there must be a point to it all...That like the blues or country its an acquired taste. That some of its good right??i'm very diverse in all types of music thats why im a pretty good judge different types of music.Unless,im yet to find more than a few trap music tracks i truely like.i hope so.only its already left a bad beat in the drum of my ear.im glad i already realy stoppd listenin'..after givin it chance after chance.Becaus over all, most all of it pretty much sux.
Man we the BEST IN EVERYTHING!!! LOL

I wish I could have seen how the British hip hop heads rock the house. I’m sure it was a blast. The show I caught was in Oklahoma City - the 1987 “Together Forever” tour with Run DMC , Beastie Boys and Davy DMX with Hurricane(Beasties DJ) as the MC. It was a lot of fun and the crowd was wasted drunk like they were at an Ozzy show lol.

The raw footage of breakdancing is amazing! I'm way too old to do it all again. However, I remember like yesterday doing all of these moves (well almost all of them.) Practiced on a basement floor in my house. Talk about a hard landing! Also a time when if you had enough cardboard you could lay it down and go to town, even on the streets of NYC. Thanks for the GREAT throwback. Again, the footage on here is priceless : )

Still watching and listening in 2022. THIS IS THE PRIMARY EXAMPLE OF THE BEST B-BOY POPPIN, LOCKIN, BREAKIN and FRESHEST BEAT to ever grace the airwaves. This should be in the encyclopedia when it calls for a primary example of a stated art movement.
These were truly my Glory Days right here! I ran away to New York in 1985 to find my cousins and grandparents on Christmas Eve and, I got to meet the New York City Breakers, they even gave me a record to take back home to Michigan with me taught me a few moves powerful paxtor was something else but Mr wave he was the one that I focused on the most with top rocking but, all of them with due respect had a gift! and I don't believe anyone in this world ever matched up to them! with much due respect to the Rock Steady Crew who are just as hard on the Dance Floor! I love you all because y'all are living legends and a tribute to True b-boys MCs and DJs! This was truly one of the greatest moments in my life! At the age of 14 in 1983 I had already been studying flipping sides on the turntables listening to Grandmaster Flash The Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa, Soul Sonic Force, Kurtis Blow, Davey d,spoonie gee, schooly d, T La- Rock, the three MCs just to name a few I still have all of my records in mint condition!many crates! So thanks to television in our family stereo system with help for my cousin in Brooklyn Sam the man I had already started b-boying in Pontiac Michigan back in 1983 at 14 years old, everybody used to love when I brought my ghetto Blaster around that thing took 16 D batteries and it had to be at least two and a half feet long it was the biggest one of my mother could find for me dressed up in My Adidas, my silkies with my Kangol and cazals on. And if it wasn't that it was my Pumas with the wide laces, I always had to match! this just brings back really good memories the real deal which pushed me to become a DJ and a damn good one too even at 48 now I'm still pushing and shovin! Much love to my old school music lovers that truly know about the real hip hop culture and where it originated we used to battle with dancing, rapping and DJing!! instead of fighting most of the time but you still had to know how to throw them things when it came down to it! It was like spring and summer then compare to a dark winter which is now!DJ "TERRY.T"!
The bassline and guitat licks tho....WOW!!!

I was born and raised in Virginia but I had several relatives from NYC....I remember going to the Bronx in 84 during the Summer for a family reunion which was actually held at auditorium in Harlem...growing up around that energy and creativity ....Graf Writing on brick walls in the alley, breakdancing in the park , rap battles in the school caferteria, and learning to scratch on the turntables in my bedroom...those experiences made me a part of the culture!
When I reflect back on the 80's the music is always first and foremost mentioned, then the dancing, then clothes. Everybody back then took the time to look their very best even though we didn't have a lot of money back then, we had each other mostly and everybody stuck together I don't care if you were white, black, red or alien if you hung out with us you were family!!!!!!!!
