I served with SGT Farnsworth when we were both Instructors/Troop Handlers at Marine Combat Training Battalion at the School of Infantry, Camp Pendleton. Good Marine.
Drunk or sober, he managed to make it thru Normandy, Bastogne & all the rest, so there is credit to be given for that. Anybody, but anybody who made that trip deserves ample credit, just for surviving, especially in Bastogne where nobody below the rank of General had any but the very least form of comfort not afforded to the Boys On The Line. Also remember that Nixon never tried to portray himself as a War Hero. He freely admitted that he never once fired his weapon in combat. I only saw one other Soldier run him down in any of the Easy Co. videos or books that I have read about them & I wasn't overly impressed with his accounting of events, especially since that particular individual said he performed all sorts of heroic acts in combat, but came out with not even the "Combat Badge" pinned to his uniform. I'm glad to cut "Nix" some slack
@@dwightcurrie8316 Which book was it and what did they say about him? I know Winters always recounted that Nixon was great, calling him "utterly dependable and totally fearless", and that he was "the finest combat officer" he had ever served with
@@dannybarna4444 ; The book in question is "Band Of Brothers" by DavidAmbrose, but there's a 5 part video on CZcams "Major Dick Winters Tribute" or something like that where in episode 4 or 5 Winters talks freely about the lawyers for Random house being worried about parts of the book opening them up to lawsuits and Nixon's alcoholism was one issue.....Nixon nor his family had no problem with the portrayal. I served two tours in Vietnam as a Recon Marine...I thought the BoB series was pretty realistic given the limitations of movies and modern actors. The one character who really popped for me was Lt. Speirs, he definitely had the persona and the thousand-yard stare that I saw in combat Marines in Vietnam.
I remember watching this ( after watching the box set TWICE!) they are fantastic!!! The impressions of Dale Dye during the class photo are pant wettingly hilarious 😂
I've watched this series many many times over, it is so good. The same goes for "The Pacific". This is the first time I find out about these video diaries though. Thank you Ron.
@@Smitherrrrs I actually felt less connected to the characters compared to Band of Brothers which is why I didn't like it so much. Band of Brothers was the best war movie ever made. Great cast, great writing. I loved this film. Yea it was a mini series,so it doesn’t classify as a movie but it still was the best. My thanks to Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg for making this wonderful picture.
It would have been great if instead of a drill sergeant, Lumberg walked out with his coffee cup. "Ahhhhh, I'm going to need everyone to line up. If you can all just do that for me. That'd be great."
"We are so f***ed." Usually, real Drill Sergeants on day one get up to your face real close and threaten to f*** you up and throw you out the bus, and that goes on for 8-10 weeks. Except the grenade throws. That's when they suddenly becomes all warm and kind because boots can say f*** it and take both of them to heaven.
"video diary" really gives away the age of this 😂
Indeed. Twas was a simpler and better time. Sigh.
luz's actor didnt have to act, that's just how he is
"Going to have to put it away." "Ok." "I know it's OK." - Welcome to the military gentlemen.

Still watching this in 2020. Still a great series like no other.
Ron's character did nothing but walk around, talk, and drink
That's the beauty of it
And look nonchalant
even the real character he played didnt fire a single shot in combat.
@@Glee73 Cause in the real-life war he didn't. Didn't had to.
Just like the real Nixon.
Maybe Spiers offered them cigarettes?
we know now. you trying to be funny stop
@Sallys TightField nice troll acount now move along
“ list of wardrobe in an incredibly thick Scottish accent” cracked me up haha
The last episode of the series felt genuinely sad. I felt like the actors had a real good time on set and that manifested itself in the last episode
"It's YESS, get used to it YESS if you're British YESS if you're American YESS"
Wassup yo? Wasaap Dawg?
how Ron went from office space to BoB is amazing. He killed this role👍👍👍🇺🇸
I'm glad this was in my recommended.
I get to watch another side to my favourite series.
...me too, it was a surprising recommendation.
"We are so fucked."
Luz at the end tho lol
Brilliant casting.

And (i think, not 100%) the instructor talking about not using ye/yo/wassup etc. is the guy on a horse in either the 2nd or 3rd episode.
Yeaaaaah...
I'm gonna need you to give me that intelligence report by Saturday.

Too bad they couldn’t shove someone in with the name Michael Bolton
Gary Cole, commanding officer of Easy Office Company.

The whole reason Lew Nixon survived was to give Dick Winters a job when the war was over.
I wonder if he was related to that fucked up president Nixon.
