Hey guys, today, I am in search of an ancient Hindu temple, and this is supposed to be at least a thousand years old. Let’s go take a look and see what we can find.
Some people have claimed there is an abandoned temple in the village of Kothamangalam, but the beauty is that this village is not even on google maps, the closest village on maps is Kattur, and I have to physically explore this area to find the temple.
Oh there… You can see a giant Vishnu statue. And there you can see the ruined temple. This is the ancient temple we were looking for. Let me remove my shoes, and then we can start finding out what is there.
Let’s take a look at this Vishnu, guys. So, here you can see this gigantic Vishnu guys. It will be... I would say it is about 5 or 6 feet long. Now the question is... is this really Vishnu? Or is this some other God? How did I identify this as Vishnu? Now the obvious symbol is this... And this is called Naamam in Tamil, and you can say that this is a new Naamam they have put on the carving. But you can see other details as well. Now, for example, here you can see the conch, or the Shanku as they call it. And this is a clear symbol of Lord Vishnu. It is a classic symbol, it is called a Shyana Vishnu or PalliKonda Perumal, where he is putting one hand like this and sleeping and he is wearing a sacred thread and he is wearing ornaments, and he is also wearing giant ear studs. Fully loaded with his crown or helmet, so we know that this is Vishnu. Usually, Vishnu will have his wife or consort called Lakshmi by his feet, but that is missing, but this is clearly Vishnu. And what else can we find here?
This is a monolithic statue, meaning it is made of one stone, and you can see the depth here, showing the thickness of Vishnu’s feet, to make it look realistic. It is remarkable. Look at his face, he looks quite life-like and has a mysterious smile.
There is a tall brick tower, but before that you can see another structure that has been made completely with granite. Let us go closer to this, right away, I am greeted by this short, fat creature blowing a conch. Who is he? He has a very fancy hairdo, but due to neglect, everything is completely eroded. And he is not only wearing large earrings, he is even wearing a belt like thing on his belly.
Immediately I can see some renovation attempts by inferior civilizations, you can see the cylindrical pillar on the left supported by a separate rectangular block at the bottom, while the pillar on the right has a separate small cylindrical block at the top, adjusted for height. You may think this is an engineering blunder by ancient builders, but, if you look carefully, you can see everything else is of one color and the color of the right-side pillar is different. This was a poor renovation attempt done a few centuries ago, that’s why it looks weird, but thankfully, these carvings are original.

Looks to me civilizations across the globe had the same knowledge until it got messed up by certain forces. We will regain it one day I'm sure of that, hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. At this time many people are still misled, taught wrong, lied to, and what is most sad, they lack the will to uncover the truth or learn, evolve in any way. Not interested in their ancestors and roots, have been taught that those were dumb and evil even. But stay positive, this will be corrected by the true powers that be, it has already begun. Praveen, whenever you visit these temples/monuments you should document (photos, video) of the entire place (structure, carvings, layout, etc) for prosperity purposes so that future generations will always be able to view/use for scientific research them after they wear away even more from natural weathered erosion. You are doing some of it already for your videos, but having complete sets of pictures of everything (which I know will take a lot more time at during each visit) is a huge benefit for all of mankind, and then the Govt may actually fund your work or pay you for all the records for Govt preservation (just as many other countries/organizations now do for future research and prosperity). Especially for a lot of these outdoor places that will eventually disappear (the carvings and paintings, etc especially) because of erosion. Just an idea!!

Growing up in Alabama, USA, the Mississippian Mound Builders were everywhere around the State’s main Rivers, just like the ones going all the way up from the Gulf of Mexico to the Ohio River. So little had been excavated and far too much destroyed over the last 1000 years to get more than a glimpse of what that civilization was like, but it’s pretty clear that there was trade from S. America up and N. America down the waterways.
It’s fascinating to see how similar the ruins are in some ways, but how much better preserved there in India. It’s not all the result of Western European influx, though, because much of the evidence has just been consumed back by Mother Nature.

The blessings are always mixed when cultures fade or expand. I’m not going to lay the blame for anything on the followers of the faiths that have been used by political powers for their own purposes, however, because there’s a process, just like the process we are currently undergoing. Each nation, tribe and tongue will be weighed in the Balance of the Celestial Courts, in due time. In the meanwhile.. We must choose the Higher Principles presented by all of our faiths, in order to push past the physical and psychological inertia of our pasts.
I feel badly that the doctrines of Peace and Grace are so muddied and sullied by the all too human nature that revels in Conquest and the certainty that comes from Majority, but this story Is History.. regardless of the religious system in operation.. at least imho.🤷‍♀️

You misconstrue my comments, dear. I’m merely referencing similarities across the ancient cultures, with the majority of the comments in regard to my own Hemisphere in the Americas.. if you read it with a little less jaundiced eye. But your point towards the ravages of the more “modern” conquests is well taken. Such has been the case for the entirety of the history of the earth, and were “we” to discover other worlds, our consuming human designs on finding other worlds to “explore” and exploit.
Your commentary seems to paint others pretty negatively, too. It’s the way of feeling like your lands and people have been robbed. As a Southern American, it’s been 150+ years since the W🅰️R Between the States, and my region is still being treated as an outcast land, so I understand the frustration, but not the willingness to “fire upon” a presumptive enemy, without a fair assessment.
Such is the nature of discourse on Social Media, perhaps, but I assure you that nothing I said was casual or intended to offend. But if one sees offense, sometimes it’s just the inevitable ravages of the course of human existence.
Blessings to you and all you cherish, nonetheless.

I think a lot of this temple is buried as well, if it was victim to a mud flood there is probably 20-50 feet of it under the dirt, which is probably why the top portion is still standing because of the large foundation underneath

@@ni3070 in ancient times temples were built in special shapes and heights so as to attract good vibes and keep those sounds inside a temple for as long as is possible. Because the gods themselves attends...it's heartbreaking to see this.

This just makes me so sad to see our temples in shambles 😢
If only can government redirect funds from what it collects from other hindu temples to restore these gems instead of spending it on other appeasement political tactics. 🙄
Thank you so much Praveen Mohan for your great service 🙏🙏🙏 May God bless you!

May Lord Vishnu Bless you, Mohan Sir, with "JAYA" in life. Yes you are no less than a modern day Dharma Yoddha who is taking all pain to take Hindus close to their ancient Sanatan Cultural Roots. We chant 1000 names of Lord Vishnu in our evening prayer but you are there right in the battle ground offering Seva 1000 times more than we could do.

I love these videos, they transport you to these ancient places. Can you imagine a world with these cities full of megalithic structures and advanced technology. The mayans, egyptians, hindus, and cambodians must have had some connection with a sacred knowlege that we cant imagine.

The decoding part of this video was very awesome. Also, the video production of this video is just as good as a discovery's documentary. It just shows how much effort it takes to document the temple and its structures. It takes more effort to decode what they mean than actually visiting the temple. A very very thank you, sir, and your team for your amazing efforts. You're doing the most you could do to serve dharma. I hope I too can gain some intelligence to serve dharma to my fullest. Om Namo Narayana 🙏
