Calgary is said to have the longest urban pathway and park system in the world. You don't appreciate this until you go to other cities and realize that not every place has such an extensive pathway system. They prioritize clearing the pathways of snow. I think that this contributes to encouraging better health by making walking, running and cycling more accessible and there seems to be plenty of fitness buffs in Calgary.

Best road infrastructure and low congestion for Canada's major cities, but with the absolute worst drivers in the country!

Yes I’m surprised I missed that!

I think that contributes to the feeling of "optimism". Hard to be depressed when there are so many sunny days, even in the dead of winter.

Toronto and Vancouver are ranked 3rd and 4th on "liveability index"? What am I missing?

They are just too expensive to be classified as livable cities in my opinion. I love Vancouver and have lived there in the past, but when it costs 2-3 million for a house that would costs 300-600k in the rest of the country it’s out of reach for 90% of the people out there. Livable if you’re a baby boomer and bought the home for $150,000 I guess.

I like both cities though. Vancouver is the most beautiful city I’ve been to and Toronto is fairly lively and interesting. Just so expensive that it doesn’t make sense for the typical person out there.
