The BSA R10 - Bisley Magnum and Crosman pellet Shootout

  • In this video I test three pellets to see how well they shoot through the BSA R10 Mk2 at 50 yards. The pellets in the test are the 10.65 grain Bisley Magnum, the Crosman Premier Domed at 10.5 grains and the Crosman Premier Hollow Points at 7.9 grains. I did seem to have issues with some of the groups, which could have been down to the magazines. I will have to get a hold of a single shot loader in the future to see if that can give a more credible outcome.

You can't expect to get tight groups switching between pellets like thar, u need to shoot 30 then do ur test with the following 10 shots...
Then shoot another 30 of the next pelllet , and then do the test with the next 10.......
Doing it like you are mate , the barrel hasn't got a chance of settling in.
    Try what I'm saying,
    Thanks

Hiya iv used the Crossmen Premier ultra magnums alot and I found them very good iv never had good results with any of the Bisley pellets for some reason iv tried using them with different head sizes and over various range's but one thing I did notice when sitting down and testing like you are in this video is that on changing from one type of pellet to another it took a number of shots to settle in and give me a true idea of what each type of pellet would group like I found the Ultra magnums were better than the normal Crossmen Premier at 8.5grains I think it said on my tin and iv found this with a BSA SCORPION mk1 and a Webley Axsor in 177 in 22 iv not had much joy with the BSA range either with afew different rifles the original Crossmen accupell was good in both calibres iv tried and the Webley accupell iv had good results with in 177 the 4.52 was giving the best results and in 22 the 5.52 gave me the best results I sat down with my rifles and alot of pellet testing whilst recovering from surgeries it was something I took my time with and found interesting at the time

I've got a mk2 carbine R10 in .177, it doesn't seem to matter what pellet you put through it just prints groups like a typewriter really tiny groups, but bisley mags do the best power 10.8 fpe, 8.6 grain field target trophy its barely over 10 fpe and 8.4 jsb = 10.3 but the 10.3 grain jsb heavies will group better at long range try those I swear by them in my Wolverine R also and Rapid mk2, I would say they are best pellet in the majority of guns out at range like 50 yrds, my mates ultimate sporter also likes them and hw100.

The QYS are some of the best pellets out there and now have a big following. Snowpeak have even got their own now, although they are hard to get a hold of.

I have the very same problem with my. 177 R10 mk2 carbine.
From day one never been accurate no good for target shooting and definitely not for pest control.
I Have fitted a Huma regulator.
Thought that it would improve things.
Shot power is super consistent over the chronograph in sub 12lbs. but pellets all over the place at 25 yards.
Bisley magnums Reading 11.3 lbs power.
Shot it without the silencer, no improvement,
It was a brand new hawk scope I fitted when I bought the rifle.
Tried numerous other brands and weights.
Even re crowned the barrel still no joy.
    Cleaned the barrel.
Just ordered a single shot pellet loader.
Just incase it's the magazines that are the problem.
    If this fails.
I give up and will literally chuck it up in the loft.
And by something I've actually tested before I part with my hard earned money.
I personally don't rate BSA guns at all, certainly wouldn't buy another one.
And you can't even buy a New Barrel for their guns I've found out.
And they don't even reply to emails either.
    Always love your videos fella.

      Well Mark
It turned up the other day
Tried It today for the first as yes pellet on pellet.
      Unbelievable difference.
      Super happy with the results.
Even other club members commented on literally a ragged hole.
So now need to find out why the magazines are the problem.
Not good if it's a multi shot but you can't use the magazines.
      Thanks for your message.

Just a shot in the dark ( pun intended ) is the spring in the magazine to strong ( for want of a better term ) meaning it MAY be too tight on the pellet being fed into the breach therefore damaging most probably the skirt if that is the case , are the holes " off-set " when pellets have been loaded ? In other words , can you see the whole of the pellet in the magazine? Or even with NO pellets in the magazine , can you see the whole of the hole in which the pellets is to be fed ...

Another thing , although im sure you haven't overlooked this ... when putting in the magazine , do you clip it in with the retaining slide button located on the left hand side ? .. just a thought , as ive overlooked doing this on several occasions ..

The r10 mags have an unhealthy habit of pinching the pellet skirt when filling and rotating and before you know it you have a full mag of flyers all over the show.

Hi, something seems to be wrong today.but I’m sure you will get to the bottom of it.it does not appear to be the wind the groups are so random.could it be a clipping issue or a pellet probe o ring.?.let us know your findings please. All the best.

Them hollow points are ok ain't they ... Looks very much like a diff magazine to me , I had exactly the same thing , was sorted ( replaced ) under warranty , think it was with the Goldstar SE , nevertheless , I use all 3 BSA mags in my R10 now ... Single shot loader in the SE and it's awesome , try to get single shot loaders whenever I get a rifle .. good accuracy with the one magazine though ..

Mark little off topic for this video though I have a Brocock Contour S6 and watched your video on the concepts and they gave me the confidence to have a go at it. QuestionThe T10 bolt under the Magazine that helps hold the action to the tube is that supposed to tighten as mine goes straight through the hole and doesnt hold the action on. the only bolt i have holding the action and tube together is the one that stiops the hammer coming out. I have lost no parts and took it apart carefully and it works as its supposed to just curious

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  Před 3 lety +1

Is it the correct bolt? Maybe it was tightened to much and stripped the threads in the past. You could retap it if that's the case and use a larger bolt.
