My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa and hoping to make the city of light my home base - at least for the foreseeable future. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much.

FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? Over four years now, holy cow.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a "Draw My Life" video that explains a lot here: • Draw My Life
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I've made a lot of changes recently, but I try to keep my gear list up to date if you want to see what I use and buy some for yourself: bit.ly/JaysGearList
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here: • Why I Want to Live in ...
Do you speak French? - Oui. • Un Jour en Francais (E...
Do you make money off CZcams? - Ha, sorta. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $5/mo to help me make better videos: / jayswanson
I don't trust this Patreon thing - can I just paypal you? - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game): ko-fi.com/jayswanson
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. So instead people often drop off or ship things to the Peloton Cafe in Paris for me.
Thanks for watching!
You've nailed the sponsored segment of CZcams culture.
😆 Thanks!
Jay needs his Utube 100k plaque! Let’s share the heck out of these mega useful Paris videos! Great job Jay, I am going over these videos again and saving them to have them at hand for when I go back to Paris or for sharing them.
Fantastic!! I saw this posted on Patreon earlier, but I didn’t get a chance to see it until today. Really well done. I loved seeing what I am pretty sure is Kaarin’s back yard. I have so missed her Instastories about her garden and yard! It looks like it’s gotten amazing! Thankfully I was eating lunch as I watched. Otherwise I would’ve become very hungry. There are so many amazing options in Paris these days. Thanks for highlighting them! 🙏🏼
Your little doggie backpack with Cooper in it is the cutest!
Thanks!
Wonderful video! Thanks to you, I have a list of restaurants, coffee shops and breweries to try when I go to Paris next spring. Also nice to see the wonderful Kate again. Best wishes to her, you and Cooper. Thanks as always Jay.
Thanks Jay! I so appreciate you giving us a delicious video while you are on vacation.
There was a sandwich called Le Star Truffe, from a restaurant called Pepita, in Paris that I fell in love with. It's fairly simple in design but absolutely delicious. I believe it's in the 5th arrondissement.
Thanks for the great video. I love watching them. I am traveling to Paris next week for a girlfriends trip. Even though each of us has been to Paris before, I love discovering more of Paris through your videos and recommendations!
I don’t think a taco is a sandwich but I don’t really care as long as they taste good.
😆😆 totally fair
You had a pretty good Jack Nicholson impression going on in the NordVPN commercial.
love the video! Thank you!
If you’re ever around montmartre , I recommend Buffet Local . It’s a tiny shop next to the Sacré-Coeur that uses products bought directly from producers (mostly local producers) . The ingredients are always really tasty and the sandwiches change weekly based on which ingredients are available .
Around 7.5€ for a sandwich , 9.5 for a hot dog/croque monsieur , 13-17€ for starters drink sandwich and dessert .
I’m not affiliated with them at all but I discovered the shop recently and it definitely fits the idea of a small , hidden treasure that only a few people know about!
Thanks! Staying near the area soon and looking forward to it!
Thank you!!!! Very helpful. Love Cooper!
Loved the video as usual and loved the Sponsor bit was outstanding 😃
It was great meeting you last Saturday Jay! Love your videos and vlogs. You are the MAN!
Your father tom Clancy arranged the details of the meeting ? You spoke in code and all ? Blew up some Russian embassy using some mustard laced wit nitroglycerin ? =D
Adding Miznon Canal to my visit list. Looks amazing. And dude looks fun. 😉👍🏽
Excellent content! Great video!
Your Nord VPN bit . . . HILARIOUS!! Oh, Jay! This is why we all adore you!
Great "sandwich" options. Yummmmmm
Glad you liked both!
Will be in Paris in 67 days after 3 years. I'm only in town 4 days so I'll be hitting my staple places to visit, but will be content to know we both enjoy the city which changed us for the better.
And a LAWL for the west-coast pronunciation of "caramel" as "CAR-mel" -- now that I'm a transplanted Californian in NYC I've had to learn "CARE-ah-mel".
😆 So many ways to say the same thing
Sonny’s is amazing! We lived right next door when they opened the pizzeria 👏 the guys that own it are all good vibes ☺️
They're really nice
Great to see you playing characters again. Bring back the wizard!
your videos are really good! keep it up my man.
Thank you!
It's interesting how most of those weren't 'French' foods but from other cultures. Great list. Thanks
Love 💗 your video thanks 🙏🏻
Jay, have you tried Schwartz's Deli on Avenue d'Elylau (16 Arr.). They have a monster pastrami sandwich that is fantastic.
You’re awesome! Love you’re videos
Thanks!
Evening Jay i wasnt hungry but NOW im starving need food .... great food great vid again
Bro loved the commercial,So much so I had to comment before the video ended
Hi Jay! I'm heard there's small Vietnamese part of town in the 13th, you should check out the banh mi there!
Yeah, the 13th is filled with many great spots featuring southeast Asian cuisines
Lol cowabunga 😂 I think we all love your Nord promo 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Cowabungaaaaa 🍕🍕🍕
Love this... i have never seen anyone eat a taco like that lol
Love your videos!
Thank you!
On a roll Jay!!!! hehehe
My hairdresser is Vietnamese and makes me Banh Mi. So delish.
Jay, quick question...love your videos! When seeing a cafe with a terrace, do I just sit down or ask to be seated? Leaving for Paris in a few days.
Depends on the service style but normally I ask or order first
Ahhhhhhh bring me back! I need to get back!!
I want nachos and burgers now!!!
The Philippines came up with the Banh Mi sandwich. It is not used in a French Baguette. I will let you find it out. All the best from London. Peace and Love
Very honored to be shouted out in a sandwich video 😊
You deserve a lot of shoutouts tbh
Throwing in my $0.02 ... girding myself for folks to @ me... I explained tacos in Chinese (Cantonese dialect) to my immigrant parents and grandmother that 🌮 are a folded Mexican flatbread made of usually corn that is served folded or open faced with beef, pork, chicken and salsas OR vegetarian with nopales/catus mixed with other veggies. Grandma was not a fan. My parents would occasionally eat the tacos I would bring home from local taco truck.
That said I had an excellent burrito from Bocamexa in 6eme arrondissment. Banh mi experience at Thieng Heng in 13eme arrondissment is *chef's kiss* (recommendation from family friend that lived in Paris 20 years).
I can see the technical similarities between a sandwich and tacos. However, from one taco enthusiast to another... let's keep tacos as their own great, unique, scrumptious thing?
I’m so hungry watching this video!!
😆😆
As much as I love seeing people love my culture and it’s food, tacos are not sandwiches😢. A torta on the other hand is most definitely a sandwich. And a very good one 🤤
nord vpn ad strikes again :D suddenly comes up and takes us to some comedy and shows that some creative jucie are flowing!!!...
No no no no... sandwich is NOT a Taco! Bread is not a tortilla! :D
Is a flip flop a shoe? Yes and No
🤣
I take the view that a sandwich is only a sandwich if it goes with the word "sandwich"....so, not a sandwich: taco, hot dog, hamburger....is a sandwich: peanut butter SANDWICH, tuna SANDWICH (we tend to leave the word "fish" out in Canada) ... now end this silly debate 🤣
So is a chicken burger the same as a fried chicken sandwich?
I love you, Jay, but a Taco is not a sandwich. Nope. I refuse. 🌮🚫🥪
😆😆
@@JaySwanson Nice try, though! ;)
Did Ross cheated on Rachel? Yes and No. #existencialthoughts
Thank you Kate for not using profanity 🌞
🥖🍟🥖🍟🥖🍟🥖🍟🥖🍟🙋👍🍀❤️
👍👍
Jay. We have been watching you for years. I have been going to Paris on and off for 50 years! I hope I am OK to give you a constructive criticism. Lately, you seem to have speeded up your talking to where I am almost unable to understand you! Please slow down. I want to understand what you are saying, but way too fast!!! Thanks!
