Didn't get to the arcade very often as a kid, and when I did I usually didn't have much money. Fortunately, that would have been mid-late '90s, so The Simpsons was actually a bit long in the tooth at that point, so it was in the cheap section (I think one arcade near us had it set up to take dimes!). I remember enjoying it. When I build my proper home cinema, this one's definitely going in the arcade.
This and the original tmnt arcades are my favorite...Def hold alot of nostalgia and memories just looking at the graphics on them haha. I preordered mine with the stool and sign which I'm stoked about as the tin sign is good size and a worthy addition to my arcade room. I haven't built it yet ...been so busy but im hoping to bang it out tomorrow. I own the NBA Jam, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first addition, capcom street fighter legacy edition (which I think is awesome for the price with that games list) and now The Simpson's. These things are an addiction hahahha...there are so many I want. I got 2 flat screen 42 inch tv's on the wall in the arcade room...about to order arcade style carpeting and some backlights too. I'm am officially hooked haha
Nice! I'm addicted man. Just installed the mod kit from Upgrade Arcade on my NBA Jam cab. 10k games 🤯. Gonna have a review on it within the week. Such a step up!
Rampage, Simpson’s and TMNT were my absolute favorite arcade games of all time! I bough the Simpsons cabinet, I got rampage on my mortal kombat cabinet, I just need the TMNT game to make my childhood dream complete!
Same! I have the Midway Legacy cab with Rampage. You should check out my video on the Upgrade Arcade mod. It has 10k games, about 3k of which are classic arcades. AND he’s coming out with a portable version I’m going to review soon
Thanks for the video! I got my cab still in box waiting for me downstairs will assemble this weekend! My favorite cab in my home arcade as been the Ms Pacman / Galaga cabinent... never saw it coming but the retro games keep bringing me back more than the beat 'em ups
Nice! Build is like all the others, but the quality feels a step up. I've been peeping the Ms. Pac-Man cocktail table but would need to get a riser because I'm 6'4" and think it'd be to short unless I sat on a pillow 😅
I really want this one. Simpsons is a great game but Simpsons Bowling is TRULY AWESOME.
I'm LOVING simpsons bowling!! Just wish they'd firmware a score retention update!
Especially when you turn up the difficulty to max, it makes it much more fun playing with others

I just got this one as a gift, and it is straight up gorgeous and my new staple of the game cave, but there were definitely some issues with the components and materials. It's hard for me to recommend it to my friends, but on the other side of that, it was a baller gaming gift! Cheers and great video!

@@studiodeepdive6165 Oh, for real on that one! I mean, it's such a legendary arcade game and to have a playable version of it in your own home is truly a modern marvel!
To unlock the hidden character all you have to do is swipe the track ball down (full send) then swipe the track ball up (full send) scroll up past homer and he should be there. I really hope this helps. GGs

I saw this game in the nineties. It was a head turner and well played because it was a fun four person beat um up with large colorful sprites, great music and sound effects. I agree that its hit boxes gave it extra difficulty and back then I only had a few bucks, so I unfortunately never made it past the first level. Have a good time! Another 1up 90s favorite I could of had on clearance for $150 was TMNT. I turned it down because of space. Uugh!!!
Turning down TMNT for $150 due to space is heartbreaking! I feel like I'd buy it and keep it boxed until I found space 😅

It be nice if they would give the option of limited lives and continues. The xmen arcade game on the PS3 was fun until people kept spamming the mutant powers. Combined with unlimited continues it made the game far less fun.
I still have the Simpson's arcade game since its debut on the ps3 console. I recently purchased Arcade1up Simpson cab from walmart at 529. Have yet to pick it up.....i hope its worth it😂
I think you'll dig it. I recommend getting some loctite for the joystick knobs. They spin loose pretty easily
Outrun is my favorite cab but atari star war is the best cab that was ever made by arcade1up! Great video...

Could you comment if there are problems with audio or the intro video? Saw other reviews mentioning problems there. Are there Problems with the input for player 2 (blue)? It looks as if the joystick would be where you are supposed to have your hand? Original had the buttons below the joystick so you could (relatively) comfortably play with 4 people.
Just want to make sure if this is great for the money.
Thanks for the questions! I assume you're referring to RGT85'S review. First off, he's not wrong. The intro music doesn't line up with Lisa's sax, but it does come back with Marge honking the horn. The sound of the uranium(?) core hitting the table is gone altogether. The speakers will not satisfy an audiophile, but I think it's obnoxious to have it full volume anyway so the clipping he experienced doesn't happen to me. Homer's controls are not ideal but I just played a round with him before replying to you to try and be very conscious of it and it's completely playable. The game play in it of itself is super fun and a good representation of its original version. To that end, I think everyone overlooks the fact that we get an internet ready 3/4 size machine with TWO great games, a custom stool and a cool sign for $700. To get a "real" Simpsons arcade these days will easily be over $3,000. So you're getting a 3/4 size replica with double the games and a chair for around 1/5 the price. Lots of people complain about small bits and pieces, some of which might be patched in an update, but lose perspective of what it would cost to have arcade machines if not for companies like Arcade1up. This is all before I even consider the nostalgic value I have for the game.
I'm pretty sure he also admitted to being overly picky and that he still enjoyed the game. Also, I forgot to add the riser into the cost. Best case, Arcade1up starts offering base models with upgrade options, but the logistics behind keeping various configurations of the 4-5 options in stock and ready to ship is likely not worth it to them
One final thought; I absolutely LOVE RGT85 and watch every single video he makes, but you have to see that a negative review about a cab from a company under fire for raising prices will get a ton more views than a grateful one like mine that largely sings the praises of a fun game. That's youtube biz for ya 😅

And I agree that RGT85 is maybe exaggerating a bit for the youtube algorithm. But in this case I found others (e.g. Kongs-R-Us) a bit critical about the controls. Since I am outside of the US arcade1up is sadly a bit more expansive, so far found simpsons only for about 800 usd. And before I spend that amount I wanted to know for sure, thats why I appreciate you taking your time for the answer even more, thanks.
@@studiodeepdive6165 thank you brother, i felt like rgt85 was just being overly critical. But even after 2,3 videos i gathered that he's more preoccupied with that other guy making a home arcade.
Anyway, this was the video that finally sold me. Got my first 2 months ago nba jam, because it was my favorite arcade game. And Simpson's comes in a close second so id probably be very forgiving of any flaw just knowing i finally had this in my "boiler room". Anyway, 3 days before Christmas 2021 i just picked it up locally at best buy for 599!!! That's right, 100 off so im glad i waited.

@@studiodeepdive6165 I'm going to be putting some modulator synthesisers like the moog mother 32, dfam, and a euro rack.
Also a guitar and drum machine. Idea is to play around with these instruments and try to encourage my kids to do the same.
Got a gym also and adding cabs down the side of the wall. I'll show it off when I've finished.

Hey! Considering making this my first arcade1up purchase...looks fantastic but concerned about the limited # of games. Is it possible to get this machine modded with panel or firmware to add more games like pacman or other 4 player beat em up games?

Definitely! You can put your own kit together with a raspberry pi or reach out to Santino at Upgrade Arcade. He can do a Simpsons mod that includes a trackball. I have a video on a 4 player mod I got from him with 10,000 games and I LOVE it

I purchased a full size Simpsons arcade cabinet in brand new condition a few months ago. It is a fantastic arcade cabinet to own! Now I'm just waiting for my Arcade1up Terminator 2 arcade cabinet to arrive in February 😎🤘

Hey bro! Nice video. Very succinct and accurate. I received my Simpsons cab last week and absolutely love it. I'd be keen to know if you have any criticisms or issues with it, as I do.
So far the only issue I had was the joystick knobs twisting off so I put loctite on all of them. Haven't tried online yet but have heard there aren't many people playing yet.
@@studiodeepdive6165 Have you figured out how to get the high scores to stay? The joystick knobs have behaved themselves mostly for me. They are MUCH more secure than my other Arcade1Up.

@@studiodeepdive6165 that is my main complaint with mine - the tops always get lose while playing. Super glue might be an option since I most likely will never have to remove the tops….just sucks that I wouldn’t be able to remove the deck protector to clean it, that’s the only reason I have held off on this. Any regrets with glueing??
@@chrisg8820 well, I used loctite which isn't as hard to break as glue. If I wanted to, a healthy twist would do the trick to get them off. Super glue would be much more permanent

@@studiodeepdive6165 initially, this happened to me too. I reset the game and made sure to edit the nick name immediately, just in case I missed something. It rejected several names I tried until eventually I placed a 1 after the name, this did the trick. Not sure why that worked, as the names I tried before are very unique.

The Simpsons video game is one of the stupidest of all time just above games like ET but the Simpsons bowling is awesome so Im enjoying this 1up console with my kids who throw strikes pretty much every time.

@@studiodeepdive6165 when it comes to buying arcade 1 up you buy the games that never went on xbox -xbox series X PS2-PS5 such as X-men vs street fighter Marvel super heroes Vs street fighter that released on the PS1 only in the US that played like garbage that’s why when the marvel vs capcom arcade 1 up was released it was sold out so fast it was out of stock for over 1 year in stores your not buying them to collect cabinets for the artwork the Simpson was released on xbox 360 and PS3 played just like the arcade version to pay $700 for any arcade 2 up that just has 2 games is a waste of money

I agree. The downside to this is that it is made for tiny people. Most of us today are 200-300 lbs. How in the world would everyone be able to reach the controls? hahahaha. I see a ton of used units going up on eBay. It is just a expensive toy. Save up for a full size Skee ball neon for $3,000. Now that is something worth buying for a man cave!
