@ian8inchlynch This campaign, started by Dan Savage, is so dear to my heart. As a boy in my late teens I loved and lost a boy very dear to me (Bobby Griffith/Prayers for Bobby). I'm having quite a time convincing younger folks that it will get better! I'm so glad to have your help! Grazie Mille! Blaine
@ian8inchlynch Ciao Bello Ian! The "Mushroom " dew from highschool was cute, but the "Cupie Dew" you're sporting now is darling! Thank you for stepping up and contributing this authentic testimonial to this most important project.
Ian ur my favorite on one girl five gays and honestly i am so happy that u did this. I was bullied all through school and it was hard for me BUT my best friends helped me and so did my parents
It is so important that people speak more about straight men who are accepting and celebrate gay men. I was happy when girls supported me but my straight male friends were the best things to happen to me. It wasn't until college when I met a group of straight guys who had no problem and actually asked questions and when they talked about hooking up with girls or having sex with girls, they were 100% fine with my sex stories and wouldn't mind it was between two guys.
I for one am a masculine gay guy, & it was hard for me growing up, because I had no role models. I knew I was nothing like Richard Simmons, Liberace, or other high profile gays in the media. It wasn't until Billy Chrystal's portrayal of Jodi Dallas on the comedy show called Soap in 1977, when I was 12, that I saw a gay character that looked & acted like me & everyone else. I had many other challenges in my my life beyond being gay, but seeing something other than the stereotype helped me a lot
I love beer and would die for UNC sports (mainly basketball), so good point. lol all my friends were straight in HS also and i told them after and we are all still very close today. thanks for the vid. 1 girl 5 gays hasn't premiered yet, right?
Sexuality is vary diverse, what gender(s) your attracted to is separate from, weather you are feminine or masculine, which is separate from weather you see yourself as a male or a female, which is separate from weather you were born physically as a boy or a girl, which is separate from any sexual kinks you may desire which also varies greatly from person to person. So, just because a gay guy doesn't fit the feminine stereotypes from TV & movies, doesn't mean he is trying to act strait,
@Lancey71 No it will get better. It's true that sometimes people who are attractive, like Ian, do have it easier. But no matter who you are it will get better.
You mentioned that you are a twin? But you didn't mention how he reacted to your coming out to him. Twins have such a unique bond, I'm curious about his process to come to terms with it with regards to you and also with what he may have thought it meant about himself.
@CSpan1993 Your a prime example of why many kids don't come out, some kids are vary feminine, so they can't hide who they are, but other kids are vary masculine & you would never know there were gay unless they told you. Some masculine gays are attracted to feminine gays, & some masculine gays are attracted to masculine gays, just like some fems are attracted to fems & some fems are attracted to masculine. Your orientation & your masculinity/femininity are separate aspects of sexuality.
Creed man, Creed? Hahah, You're such an inspiration, everyone on 1g5g's is, anyone who can stand up for who they are and let others know that it does get better has such courage!
Not all parents stand behind their children. My mom is a religious fanatic, and my father is a conservative homophobe. I told them I was gay 10 years ago and it's been 10 years since they've spoken to me. I have a handful of good friends that have made life bearable in the past decade, but no partner, and without my parents in my life, whom I truly loved and was so close with before coming out...yeah...I wish I had never come out at all.
Thanks for mentioning how cool it was when your straight friends stood up for you..More straight guys should let it be known that they are cool with it if any of their friends happen to be gay..Gay friendly straight guys get WAY more hot chicks!!!
such a hypocrite ..u sholdnt really tell people not to say "girl," its their voice and choice that they want to communicate with such words....however feminine it may sound

Sometimes it seems that American high schools are such a horrible place. I've NEVER had any problems here lol.

I want to marry this guy and have his babies.
And I'm a guy.
It does not always get better sometimes it gets worse. It easy to say it gets better when you are white and good looking.
Is his twin brother gay?
I don't know about this. For some gay men it DOESN'T get better. Are we setting them up for disillusionment?
