- We just purchased an inexpensive microwave from Walmart. It’s made by Hamilton Beach. In this video, we will go over its features, show you how it works and let you know if we think it’s a good deal. The Hamilton Beach 1.1-Cubic-Foot Microwave easily fits on my countertop. It’s 20.6 inches wide, 11.8 inches tall and 16.5 inches deep. If we open the door, you see that it’s large enough to fit a full size plate or large bowl. It’s 13.94 inches wide, 9.96 inches tall and 14.06 inches deep. You’ll notice it has a glass plate and turntable. The removeable glass plate helps to easily clean the microwave and the turntable slowly turns while the microwave runs - which helps cook food more evenly. You’ll also notice a 1000 watt sticker. This means that the wattage of this microwave is 1000 watts, which is good in my opinion. When you read microwave cooking directions on the back of a microwave meal, the cooking times are often based on a 1000 watt microwave. Lower wattage microwaves will require longer cook times. You’ll notice on the right side of the microwave (hidden when the door is closed), sensor menus, including reheat, popcorn, potato, pizza, fish, meat, fresh veggie, frozen veggie and frozen entree. To use a preset, simply press the one you want, close the door and then press start on the front of the microwave. The main control panel is pretty straight forward, it has a clock and timer. The buttons below allow you to input 10 different power levels, cook time and defrost by weight information. Below those buttons, we have a timer button if you want to time something without running the microwave. A clock button for changing the time and a time defrost button (so you can defrost something by time). Below that, we have a numeric keypad for entering numbers after pressing the buttons above. For example, I can press cook time, enter a cook time with the numeric buttons (like 2 minutes), then press the power level button and enter your desired power level. I’ll enter 5. Then I’ll go to the bottom of the control panel and press start. If I want to pause cooking, I can press the pause button. If I press it again, it cancels cooking all together and the cooking timer returns to clock mode. There are also express cook times. If you just hit the number 2, the microwave will start cooking for two minutes for example. There’s a memory button that has 3 memory settings where you can save your own cooking instructions. I honestly don’t use this feature, but if you l cook something very specific that’s not a preset, this could be a great feature for you. If you just press the start button only, it will start cooking for 30 seconds. If you keep pressing it, it will keep increasing the cook time by 30 seconds. I like this feature for cooking something quick and easy. There's a lot to like with the Hamilton Beach 1000 Watt 1.1-Cubic-Foot Countertop Microwave. It’s easy to use, the stainless steel is stylish and 1000 watts is plenty powerful for my needs. Best of all, it’s really affordable. The biggest negative we could find with this microwave is that the start and stop buttons are a little difficult to see in low light conditions. Why they wouldn’t have made these buttons white like the other buttons, is baffling. But this wasn’t a deal breaker for us. That being said, for the price and features, it’s a very good buy in my opinion.

GREAT REVIEW. Got one this morning.
Thank you for this thorough review! You covered all the things I wanted to know before deciding on a new microwave.
Thanks! I'm at my friend's place right now. She left me with microwave meals while she's at work. I've never used this microwave before. 😂
THANK YOU BOUGHT MINE ON OFFER UP APP NEW. THE WRITTEN MANUEL WAS NOT DONE WELL BUT YOUR VIDEO MADE EVERYTHING CLEAR THANK YOU
I just bought the Mainstays 1000 watt 1.1 cubic foot from Walmart. It was only 20 dollars more than their small 700 watt model. They now have a child proof lock (required by federal law) that you can deprogram. My Oster microwave i bought at a pawn shop just went out on me after 14 years.
I actually bought mine today and THEN watched the review lol. I was just very impressed at how well it works at such a low price. I got it for $55!!
That’s a score!
How did you get it for $55? It costs $80
can i use the timer function at the same time as cooking in the oven
Does the front-to-back measurement include the handle?
Has anyone had any trouble using the preset buttons and it really getting the food way to hot. Like burning hot?
Just bought this microwave. Question, when I time cook for say, 20 minutes, on default power, the noise starts and stops as the glass dish turns inside the machine. Is this normal?
I’m not sure. I’ve never actually cooked anything that long in it. That being said, if you think something is wrong, return it or contact the manufacturer. That’s what I would do. Let us know what you find out. It could be normal or it could be an issue, I just don’t know.
Thanks just got one ,,,,
I bought one of these at the 2023 Walmart Black Friday sale.
When I unboxed it had a horrible smell to it like the smell of a circuit board.
I've been searching for information on how to get rid of the odor.
GE and Toshiba recommend a mixture of vinegar, or lemon & water heated inside, I'm trying for the 3rd time. They say that the circuit board has to heat up & cure several times before the odor goes away. So far, after 3 days it still has a really icky odor.
I have tried other recommendations; baking soda heated in water left to sit inside. Also the addition of vinegar to the baking soda & water heating it up again.
Activated charcoal inside of it with the door closed all night 1st night & last night.
Did yours have this issue?
We did not notice it, but if you are reading about it from multiple manufacturers, it must be common. Honestly, if we did notice a strong odor, we probably would have returned it thinking there was something wrong. Please share if you find a solution. It may help other people with that issue.
@@LoveWhatYouDo thank you very much for replying I will keep trying to find a remedy that works, and post it here.
You did a nice review on it.
I just wish I was lucky enough to get one without an odor like you did.
If I can't fix it, I'm going to try exchanging it to get as lucky as you did.
After 2 weeks of trying to get rid of the smell inside of the microwave I returned the microwave to Walmart.
The store manager didn't seem the least bit surprised, as to why I was returning it.
Glad you returned it! You should not have to deal with an odor like that.
Mine had a faint odor similar to what you described, but it went away after a week or two. I use it multiple times every day and it works just fine.
Anyone else’s Sensor settings on the side (pizza, reheat, etc.) not activating?? So annoying.
The glass plate doesn’t not fit in the microwave. It doesn’t sit on the turner properly.
That’s weird. I did not have that experience. Return it for a new one.
Bought one in December and now it's March the microwave overheated and shut down completely. No way to contact Hamilton Beach directly. Bought it from Walmart and in order to get warranty service you have to go through Walmart customer service to get warranty work done by Hamilton Beach. Stay away from Hamilton Beach.
Ours is still working fine. Walmart is a big company. Is their warranty work bad? You would think they would be good, but I’ve never had to use them.
Let us know if they fix it or replace it.
I have it. It’s a great microwave except for the FUCKING BEEPING. YOU CANT TURN IT OFF. NO SILENT MODE. NO MUTE BUTTON. FUUUUKKKKK
I haven’t tried this yet, but I read…
Press and hold the “0” button on the keypad for about three seconds until you hear a beep and see “Snd” on the display.
Press the “1” button to turn off the sound completely, or press the “2” or “3” buttons to lower the volume to medium or low.
Press the “Start/+30 sec.” button to confirm your choice and exit the menu.
Any luck finding a way to silence it?
@@LoveWhatYouDo I try it not working
It has a zero button?
