I played the final 2 Pinball 2000 (unfinished machines) "Wizard Blocks" and "Playboy." Awesome for what they were. I wish Wizard Blocks would've been released before the end. RIP Bally Williams pinball.
Great Job! I’m currently in the process of a complete tear down and full shop job on my RFM, including cleaning and rebuilding all the underside mechs. Question on the LED conversion…. Looks like you lit the inserts with all LEDs but left the Back 1/3 of the GI incandescent? Did you use non ghosting on the inserts? any issues with the inserts dimming with the LEDs (RFM has modes where the inserts dim as well)?
Believe it or not, TAF is actually the game that killed pinball. It was so good people didn't want to buy new ones. It stayed at "A" locations much longer than any other one.
I did very similar in 2016 with a project RFM I came across, complete restore new side art with cab repair, pin blades that I had custom printed, etc. It has a custom topper with fog machine and interactive spaceship lights that go off if you 'attack mars' and occasionally on a timer some fog comes across the top. Custom speaker grill art, all the aliens, spaceship hand weathered and detailed, etc. It was my first ever pinball project so I went all out, even the inside of the cab is painted black and red. Had a lot of fun doing it but don't think I will ever go that extreme again lol. Happy I did because RFM is a great overall machine that everyone who plays enjoys (not just pinheads).
Pinball 2000 didn't kill pinball, gambling did. Slot machines are more profitable than pinball. Revenge from Mars sold more units than most games in the 90s (not including Addams family obviously)
Yep, it was actually successful and sold well. But it still wasn't enough to "save pinball". The concept of Revenge and Episode 1 really was ahead of its time. It wasn't until the projector from Stranger things that you started to get a similar concept in a modern day game.
@@billyelliotx stranger things isn't the same thing, that's projection mapping (video projected onto a surface). Pin2k is a hologram (image floats in front of a background using peppers ghost). There's a user (linoleum?) that not only created the unreleased pat lawlor wizard blocks, but created a pin2k version of demolition man
It was a cool concept, but Pinball 2000 was too expensive to own and repair for arcade owners. Meanwhile the new video arcades were attracting all the players and were both cheaper and easier to maintain. So, the pinball machines faded out. I actually don’t like these machines because the top 3rd of the playfield is devoid of anything but flat targets due to the video mode.
Just wanted to let you all know that the code was actually finished this new version of code ads, improvements and extra gameplay options like reversed flippers, tournament, play, and party mode, and points war, and some new test, features and options
I've had problems with the 'low power/reversed' flippers getting stuck after the mode so had to turn it that option off in the settings, but the shaker motor/knocker/and 6 ball mods that the new software supports is are cool.
Alex, glad to hear about your in-depth video. I have an RFM that I traded for around 2009 but that has been sitting in storage since my 2012 divorce. Seeing your video is making me want to take it out to do an LCD conversion plus a few other things!
I still think the money Williams had to shell out in order to get the license from LucasArts in order to get the rights to make a Phantom Menace Pinball machine had a lot to say in regards to why the Pinball2000 pin failed. The Phantom Menace was the first Star Wars related movie in years and 20th Century Fox and LucasArts knew people would go nuts in order to get anything with a SW label on it. I don't know, I mean I like the idea of having interchangeable playfields and computers with only (1) cabinet, but it just doesn't seem to work. Just ask Heighway Pinball after their concept of making Full Throttle and the Alien pin in one cabinet and they went bankrupt. Love your channel and I'm jealous of your knowledge on how to fix, repair, troubleshoot and bring these pins back to life. Great job!
This was the first pin I bought. It didn't kill Williams pinball production as it was a huge hit. Star Wars P2000 did that as it's practically a giveaway when you buy a P2K system now. Other than the Apron and possibly the backglass the rest were easy to source or fix on this one.
The pinball machine that 'killed' pinball is the successor "Star Wars Episode I". Due to the high license costs and the unfulfilled expectations for this model, Williams withdrew from pinball production. But in the end this was a long announced step, because Williams had been making more money with slot machines for a long time. They had no intention of holding out any longer, because the Pinball 2000 concept was and still is a very good concept and may IMHO be the future of pinball. I have both models and the RFM is by far the better model. Without the SWEI, Williams might have been forced to bring more models to market as the development team wanted and we might still have new Williams/Bally pinball machines.
@@empirepinball Actually the game that killed pinball was The Addams Family. It was literally too good, and stayed at a locations much longer than it was supposed to. Ever since that day, pinball died a slow death. It's why williams ended up trying pinball 2000.
Looks like it was more junk than goed parts. I think it was cheaper to buy a working machine for 1750 . But nice job anyway sometimes its more fun to repair it yourself.

That wasn’t Dwight Sullivan who designed Pin2k with Gomez, it was Pat “Addams Family” Lawlor.
Game came out great dude, awesome job.
The LEDs and side art make it stand out. Great job bringing it back to life.
This is the best looking RFM I've seen. Great job.

Welcome to Club 2K! I have a SWE1 and the RFM Playfield/Translite with the updated nucore PC.
A lot of fun!
This was an absolutely beautiful video. Thank you so much.
Great video. Nice that it's sitting right next to a TOM. Both great games.
I love this game and just bought it for the second time. Great Video
Great video and restoration! Its looking brand new. I really like the Pinball 2000 concept. Sad they only made two versions.
This one was a lot more fun than the Star Wars Episode 1 machine.

Yep. I know that soon after William’s Star Wars Episode 1 machine came out that some of programming team went to go make video slot machines.

Pinball 2000 is the inspiration for Multimorphic.
What parts did you use to convert to video monitor. And were can you get the new code from.

Revenge from Mars was and is a great game! Rememeber the day it came out!
Good restore job on that machine man. I'd like to play one of those but I've never seen a pinball 2000 machine in real life
Labor of love. Hopefully you got a good deal at the auction so all the parts bought to fix made it a good deal.

Where can I get this new software for download.
I have a revenge from mars I would like to know what process you used for the lcd and for the new code did you also replace the computer?
I’ll be doing a more in-depth video on all the mods that I did to it coming to the channel shortly

Could you tell me what lighting mod you installed behind the backglass.
yes I have a in depth video coming out soon that will talk about that..
Episode One came out after RFM.

Not sure I understand why this system killed a company, but the multimorphic system seems to be working, even though the concepts seem similar.
The executives of the company klled it...
Looks Awesome! Great job!
Oddly I enjoyed this game and used to play it years ago at San Diego State University.

Nice restoration, I would suggest that you lose the RGB behind the Translite.
I can make it just white as well
pinball's market killed pinball
You're the Danny Carey of Pinball bro

It was Pat Lawler and George Gomez
Finished code? I have one, but code seems complete to me, do I have the updated code? What was unfinished?
Probably other tweeks but check settings for party modes, reverse flipper, points war etc. to see if yours is latest code.
It was the Star Wars pin that killed Williams/Bally. Because the movie sucked nobody wanted the pin.
It didn't kill pinball but it was the last game that Williams made before they stopped making games so you could say it "killed" Williams
Thanks for the clarification!! Lots of misinformation out on the web about Pinball 2000 I had to come to my own conclusion when making this video!
Rfm did not kill pinball. That game is amazing and innovative. The arcade climate and the economy killed pinball
RFM didnt kill pinball... SWE1 was the last one and sold poor.. Also, Williams owners wanted to focus on gambeling....
Talkin nonsense .. there was 3 built actually
Dude, what is wrong with you?
It was Jar Jar Binks killed pinball 2000.
