  • Zacchaeus Wamiti is a young man out to change the face of Kenya football. He is not a coach or an administrator, but the young man is behind the locally made substitution boards that have been embraced by premier league teams Gor Mahia and Murang'a seal, as well as the Kenya Academy of Sports

    Diploma students seem to be better than those who get degrees at universities. They're more hands-on and attuned to realities around them

      @@brianblasius dude, I'm an engineer, trained at probably the best university in the world for engineering. Where the motto is "Mens et Manus". If you have an inkling, you know what institution that is. I have hosted events with a friend, to help local engineers learn how to build stuff. I believe you know the likes of Morris Mbetsa. Morris didn't go to university. I've seen more people without a degree doing interesting things in the real world. This is a challenge to those who are deeply embedded in theory

    • @brianblasius
      @brianblasius Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@panafrican.nation I've worked with Morris. He works with people with degrees kama hujui. Watu wake wa software ndo najua mmoja alidrop out of jkuat.
      Let me tell you, engineering bila theory hiyo ni juakali unafanya. Engineering needs hands on skills and theory, bila one of those, you are nothing.
      Plus I've trained technical schools on robotics wakiprepare for their robotics competition, hao watu wako nje kama sijui nini. In fact their teachers hata ndo worse. So usiniambie ati diploma ni kitu. Hao labda kutumia hacksaw Tu na file, but huko hakuna engineering.

      @@brianblasius baas. So who had the guts to go out and actually initiate something that now employs the ones who have degrees? I'm even talking of people like the guy who did Magiro Hydro in Murang'a. Engineers are supposedly light years ahead of technicians but the rate of actually initiating things that people are using in the real world isn't commensurate to that implied difference in ability. If it was, we'd be giving China a run for their money. So many problems would have been solved, beyond toys for experimentation/exhibition that actually aren't being used. Woefully few things have actually been _initiated_ and built by Kenyans and are in use. Which isn't to say that the ability isn't there. It's there but the gutsiness is lacking. This is hyperbole but really it's me throwing down a challenge to engineers to go beyond defensiveness and actually prove themselves.

      That is where we go wrong, why the government? We can support one of our own better than the government. FKF is not government owned but they are too corrupt to help out.
