Normalcy Bias is one of the worst mindsets in our population we face❕❕❕❕
And it’s so prevalent in like 95% of the population. That “It can’t happen here” mentality will lead to the death of millions of people directly or otherwise.
One thing people fail to realize is that ALL empires collapse totally or partially eventually. Hell, I bet even doing the 2020 riots of you were in areas that were shut down and burned out for 2 weeks at a time where leaving your house most of the time was almost a no go, some preps would have been helpful to many people.

If I don't survive it is because I am already old, 81 in a couple of months, so just being here at this time is good news for me. But that hasn't stopped me planning for years, for all sorts of reasons, remember a key saying, "If you fail to plan, then plan to fail". Mindset is fine, but body may not survive. But the main thing that will cause people is failing to make planning and preparation steps and complacency and saying "I may as well live for today and will let tomorrow look after itself".

I really had to buckle down here and pull the trigger on some much needed water preps. Got me a Berkey Big Boy (after 3 years of putting it off). I only need to get a few more filters and i'll be satisfied.

Don - if you are looking for a book that discusses purpose and will to live, I highly recommend "Man's Search For Meaning" by Viktor Frankel. He was an Austrian Psychiatrist who was interred by the Germans and he made observations about the men who lived and the men who quit and died. Reinforces a lot of what you and Robbie had to say
I found the one thing nobody gets for preparedness. The simple can opener. People stock canned goods for their food preps. A good idea. Where's the can openers? In all my 65+ years of life. I often seen the piddly, insignificant stuff always makes the biggest problems.
Be strong and have a goal! Mine is 175#'s. I've been working out as well. I'm 51 but feel 35 again with the confidence of a man of 25 years! GOD's intervention was timed perfectly...as always!

Teamwork - like minded friends... fill the team list with all your needs: auto mechanic, computer/IT guru, farmer/food, gas station/convenience store owner, HVAC, electrician, plumber, attorney, etc. Establish strong relationships now so they don't know you when SHTF.
Dentist, doctor, nurse, firefighter, carpenter, gunsmith, blacksmith, herbalist; just a few I'd like to add to your excellent suggestions.

Nothing ever happens when you expect or to the degree expected but when it does it is a crapper event, “oh crap”. In addition, your preparation is almost never adequate or even available when needed. You take emergency supplies out of your car to carry stuff and that is when you don’t have your stuff. The day uou forget your pocket knife is when you need it. When you need your flashlight is when the battery is dead. In Las Vegas the high temps kill batteries, and medical supplies especially when stored in car. Prepping is important to do and to keep after. However, planning and doing and checking becomes a lifestyle. That is the big change.
If you edc a light, your battery shouldn't be dead at any point.

It went something like this; sometimes late at night I wake up and wonder if it was all a dream or real, but in the light of day, I know better..., I know better. Look into holistic medicines for diabetes, I know black seed oil is 1 and wheatgrass is another, but I'm sure there's a lot more,
Weight is the number one cure for diabetes, loose it.
Diabetes didn't exist before grocery stores and modern medicine. I've heard of many people completely eliminating diabetes by doing a carnivore diet, this involves only eating meat nothing else. I don't think this has as much to do with eating just meat as it does with eliminating processed grains and sugars from the diet.
People a lot of times died much earlier than they do today. My brother was born diabetic I was finally diagnosed when I was about 50 1/2 years.
Female new prepper here. I'm the only one in my family that has taken the seriousness of our current situation. I made the hefty investment to converting a spare room into a storage for food, fuel, water, filters, medicine, prepper books, and guns with plenty of ammo. Still have things to do and purchase, but I have peace of mind knowing that I have plenty for a safe shelter in place in an emergency. Thank you for your content!
PlainJane - Good for you, ma'am. You sound like a smart lady!! Suggestion.... take a month or so of all your most important preps and hide those in uncommon areas around your place which would give you something to live on if people break into your home and clean out your room where everything is stored. ALSO.... don't talk about your supplies to anyone, including friends, family, strangers. If you have someone enter your place for repairs or any reason, they don't need to see your room. Keep the door shut and the door locked. It's your messy junk room if anyone asks you about the locked door. Your preps are your secret alone.
@americanpatriot7247 hello fellow patriot! I'm currently evaluating a secondary storage space for more supplies. My home has several fences and reinforced locks, so trying to break in would cause quite a ruckus. I also installed cameras and floodlights. I don't speak to anyone about my preps since they're not interested in preparing themselves (lost cause at this point). Doors are always closed and locked. I will admit this process is emotionally exhausting for a new prepper, but I'm proud of the progress. Thank you very much for your comment! Much appreciated and stay safe!

Otherwise, that horse that tossed you says, "Hey, if I buck and spin and rear and that rider comes off and puts me back in my stall - I like that better than carrying him around." Kids aren't around horses these days to learn that anymore. But us farm girls and boys, cowgirls and cowboys, dressage riders, hunter/jumper folks, all horse people, take that determination and bravery into other areas of life.

I always learn new things when watching this channel. Thanks you! My little van is so small but I'm trying to cram as much as I can in there. I'd really like your thoughts (maybe in a video) of what happened out at Burning Man. Like, if you would have gone, what would you have packed that would have made it more comfortable? Would you have planned for "what if it rains really hard" or if I get stranded? Did most not plan well enough? It just looked like a nightmare.
I've lived in a van far 30 years . I'm self contained for 3 mo water food etc. Enough ammo , seeds , foraging to get me by, if I can't make water or find food hope you can use what you find

I recently tripped and fell and I thought I broke my shoulder. Luckily it is not broken. In a SHTF situation that injury could take me out.
I'm just gonna have to go with the flow, 'cause I have no ability to prepare for anything at the moment. So, yeah, we'll see what happens, lol.

S.H.T.F. could be something as losing a relative all of a sudden and maybe that person didn't have a life insurance policy. Get life insurance folks if you can luckily we had means of taking of it. Although we prep for tomorrow we're not promised tomorrow tell your people you love them.
The reason most will not survive will be due to people scavenging from another persons stash.

there are people who believe they are ready but have no idea what they will have to do to get through this using a gun shooting and wounding and taking a life there is no easy answer when total lawless society comes about I understand this your giving advice that I believe will make the difference for a lot of people
Us Seniors will have a tough time no matter how much we prepare and how much experience we have. Combat medic 69 -71. Still in good shape but supply chain for meds will stop within a couple days. Some of us need these meds to survive.
Got the rest covered but don't see a way around this issue. Simply can't stockpile most medications.
We used to be a country of law and order… we need to start filling out jails up again!

I am an otr driver so not home much and on a very limited budget so is slow going also have a disabled person in my household but am starting to get there. Have a few questions. 1st which would you think is better for a diy filter regular charcoal or the activated charcoal for fish tanks? 2nd For Robbie How do you feel about the Mossberg Maverick 88 and the Heritage Rough Rider also Savage 64?

Nailed it again. In my life time I have lived through 4 "End of the World" from climate predictions. The most recent was Greta in 2018 when she said we have 5 years...that would have been June 2023. Not only should we be planning for our own survival but our communities as well not trying to change the inevitable. DC was once waterfront and Annapolis was at the bottom of the sea, NYC once was 1 mile under the ice. Decide which way we are going and plan for it - don't let the SHTF from climate. We still have volcanos, pole shifts, solar eruptions, natural EMPs, asteroids which will destroy modern society. We can prevent financial, food shortage, and war SHTF. I agree - prepare but fix what we can .

I quit smoking cigars when Rush Limbaugh was diagnosed with lung cancer and died within a year. Cigars cost me nearly $20,000 on a house sale. The first house I ever owned, I proudly smoked in the house. I believed the lie, "cigars are totally safe because you don't inhale." When I had to sell the home in a big hurry during a major life change, EVERYONE who looked at it turned tail and ran because of the smell of tobacco. I had to settle for an extremely low-ball offer because of this. My mom died of lung cancer 12 years ago. While I miss the pleasant aroma of a smoldering premium cigar, I gave up on tobacco forever. It just ain't worth it. Not to mention the bonus to my budget. Like Gene Hackman said in "Crimson Tide" when he gave Denzel Washington a premium cigar, "How do you like that cigar? Don't like it too much. They're more expensive than drugs."
The loneliness described by Robbie is what lead to the increase in suicide among young people during COVID

You guys forgot BUDGET forced inaction... I KNOW what we need to buy, what we need to DO, and can't do ANYTHING about it! When someone else has control of your money you can't just go out and resupply stuff like Medical! I've been trying like mad to get money to resupply our first aid kits but the Representative Payee at Social Services keeps putting the NOPE stamp on it! We had to pull teeth just to get a water heater!

Keep prepping and praying! A lot of us are dealing with that right now. My kids think I'm overreacting or "it'll never happen here-this is America" and my sister's kids think she's certifiable. If you read the comments on all these types of videos, there are TONS of us out here trying to make sure our families will make it, all the while doing it alone while those same families laugh, shake their heads at us or worse. Just keep doing what YOU think is right. If you're wrong, you can eat your mistakes and at the very least save some money on food as it keeps going up, up, up! Hang in there and don't stop!

I am beginning to develop a pretty good friendship at work but I find myself stepping back because she wont listen about preparing. She said she is not a fighter she will just die. I don't want her to be a worry or liability for me. Not sure what to do.
You have answered you own question. She's not a fighter, she will just die. That is a liability, keep stepping back. The more you invest in the relationship the harder it will be to take when it's obvious she doesn't have faith in your survival plans.
There's someone else that is looking for someone like you. Someone else would be a better fit. Keep looking.
Things were financially tight as an Airman when I married, Now things are nice but my wife is a hot house flower, and will get me killed in SHTF, but at least she recognizes how dangerous the world is turning. At 70 and disabled I'll likely be a watcher not a fighter, unless it breaksdown my door.

Survive for what?
Well first we do not eat out, period. I buy very little pre pared foods. I go to work every day and pay our bills. I am not a nut case like some on the History channels show "Preppers", which I wish they would bring back. But there was some nuts on that show. Like the woman who believed there is a "secret" planet you can only see looking through a DVD. But after going some events I am prepared.
Marines adapt to the situation and overcome. Why would shtf be any different.
I don't hear a whole lot of answers to these questions. He sort of sounds like Miss teenage America when he answers questions

I find videos explaining why people will die rather weird. And then the video explains how to survive. I'd rather be positive even when discussing potential problems.
The best thing is for people to learn and have supplies because the chant, "Skills are more important than stuff" or the old "Knowledge weights nothing" are not useful. The reality is that survival will be easier if we have supplies and equipment and tools to fix and make things. I'd rather have a good saw than cut down a tree with a sharp rock.
We all have some skills and some knowledge and we can all read or watch videos. Everyone can learn and can teach and can contribute to a family or group of people. People cook, wash, repair things, so it's not like we can't adapt our skills.
Being prepared is like being a Christian. If there is no God, I haven’t lost anything. If I prepare and never need it, so what? Right now, my elderly wife and I are eating stuff that was purchased at a much lower price. In a few months, we’ll be stuck buying stuff besides fresh meat, eggs, bread, etc.
I’m always amazed I watched two TV shows one called alone, the other one called naked and afraid. They drop these people off in the wilderness with a limited number of supplies or tools and the longest they last is 60 days!!!!!!. The reason they don’t last is they lost so much weight or they get sick or they get crazy. Tell me how our species survived thousands of years with nothing I don’t know, please answer.
