Y’all, when I was 6, I went on the demon. Perfectly fine. Nothing bad had happened, no headaches no injuries. I love the demon, this year I was reunited with it, and i just got a nose surgery done and I was perfectly fine. I hope they don’t take down the demon because it’s awesome.
I remember when it was getting late and my friends and I were still in the mood for roller coasters. I suggested this one since it was my very first roller coaster, and we hadn't ridden it together yet. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there was hardly a line for it so we rode on it like 3 times in a row without waiting! So much fun. Definitely one of my personal favorites. Also yeah the corkscrews messed with my neck the first time I rode it, but since then I was prepared to handle them ;)
We at Great America had one once that was even MORE like Viper, made by the same manufacturer as both of these! It was called “Shockwave.” It was taken down years before I rode my first big coaster, which was actually the ride that replaced it: Superman: Ultimate Flight. Demon was then my first looper.
This ride brings back so many memories. It was my first roller coaster! I first rode it when I was 7 years old and sadly haven't gotten back to the park since :( I was barely 48 inches and I told my dad I wanted my first roller coaster to go upside down, so I was super excited. I'm now a coaster enthusiast and credit this ride and Millennium Force for making me an enthusiast!
My first one was batman. Then demon. My first coaster ever here was the whizzer, then the viper. Then it was raging bull lol i was scared but raging bull is the coaster that had me hooked on coasters
I rode it back when the park was fresh. That was around 1977 when the Demon was still called the Turn Of The Century, was NOT painted black, and had 2 low-gee or negative-gee hills instead of the teardrop loops. But it DID have the corkscrews and everything else except for the tunnel. Surprised it's still there. I was 17 when I rode it, and I'm 57 today.
I love the demon, it was my first roller coaster ever. I got on it when I was 6. I just got reunited with the Demon. And I am really scared of roller coasters, but this roller coaster I was perfectly fine with! I am so happy with it I hope no one takes it down. It’s good for Halloween too!
wow. so many negative comments. There are many people who actually enjoy this. It really shouldn't hurt if you keep your head on the headrest and hang onto the harness. It's shaky but not nearly as bad as shockwave was. This is a much better made arrow dynamic coaster.
Kai Grossman My back was in so much pain, and I had to take pain pills, couldn't even ride anymore rides for a school trip with my friends because of this, even though this is my child hood ride, it was not this bump before, I am 14 now, though.
This ride is a classic. It was my first roller coaster I rode that had an inversion. It is really rough and I think it would do some justice to update the ride carts and restraints. Every time I ride this my head always bangs against the shoulder bars during the corkscrews. Maybe make them similar to Maxx Force and Goliath, which just have a lap bar. I think that could improve the ride as well as make a more comfortable and thrilling experience for the riders. Either way, this ride will always be near and dear to my heart!
Well, that’s because of the manufacturer (Arrow Dynamics) designed all of their coasters on paper rather than using computer modeling. And also they welded the track together rather than using bolts. These combined make their coasters rough in most spots.

Hey,I love this ride because its one of my favorite original old rides i still love to go on,but the only problem(s) I have is that it hurts my head and neck and then I have a headache
I might go to great America this summer. I have 2 questions. The first is how bad is this coaster, really? I would like to go on x flight, but I’ve never been upside down before and the only big roller coaster I’ve been on was the American Eagle at great America. I’ve heard that the demon is a good first upside down roller coaster but I also heard that it’s really old and rough ride. Is it really that bad? Do people get hurt on it? My next question is that I’ve seen people pass out on roller coasters. Do people just randomly pass out on roller coasters?
This ride’s great as a first inversion coaster. It was mine, after all. I really enjoy this. It’s not intense or scary, I think it’s fun, maybe a little bumpy from its age but I can do several times in a row and be fine. I’ve probably done it over 30 times. It’s unusual to pass out on a ride unless it’s built more intense than it should, like Project 305 at Kings Dominion, or someone has a pre-existing medical condition. This one should be fine. I’d recommend this before doing something like Batman or Goliath, it’s much less intense. X flight is pretty graceful, I prefer it in the front but that’s just bc it’s a little smoother there. Maybe try this in the front first if you want a smoother ride
You're never allowed to get rid of this one.
