    Being a female in your shape of tiny waist but bigger hips, in my younger years, since you already do not like super oversized sweaters, I can’t see you being happy with 11” of positive ease. I never would have been. Might help to go to a store and try on a knitting cardigan that large and see what you think. Gorgeous color.

    Your discussion about the design process for you socks is very interesting. This is the first time I have had the chance to see and understand why toe up was chosen vs. cuff down and I fully understand why you chose toe up. Thank you. It changes the way I look at designer's choices.

    I love the colors you chose for the summer top! Neutral with a pop of color 🙂 And your flock socks are too cute! For your cardigan, if you don’t like too much positive ease, I don’t think you’ll enjoy wearing it that oversized, even if that’s the designers intentions. I vote for ripping back and going down one size in the pattern. I personally think it looks fine with the ease, but I am someone who enjoys a lot of ease in their garments. It matters what you will be comfortable wearing! 🙂

    Your Flock socks are super cute! 🧦 Love the summer mod of your Prismatic Reflection Sweater. 🧶And the colors look great. 11" is a lot of ease, so I vote to rip it back and knit it to your size. I look forward to your upcoming designs. 🧶

    Those socks are adorable and I like the lime color! For the cardigan- I don’t have strong feelings on boxy vs fitted garments, and it’s always good to try new things. BUT if you aren’t sure that you’ll like it, I would frog and make the smaller size that you know you will like. You will spend hours making it and you spent a lot of money on yarn. If you want to test out a boxy shape, pick up a less expensive cardigan at target or something to see if you like the shape before sinking a ton of time and money into it.

    These sheep socks! *sigh* I have to knit them soooooo soon! I dye my own sock wool, so it's no problem at all to make small quantities of different colors. My Saturday has already been saved, I ordered the pattern straight away.
    As for the cardigan: you wouldn't have procrastinated for so long if you thought the size was okay. Therefore: Frog it! (With the chosen color, this is a fitting thought in a double sense).

    The sheepie socks are adorable.
    I have one foot that is 8.5 and one that is 8, my shoes never fit correctly.
    I enjoy your podcast, very comfortable and inspirational to watch. The cats are a bonus/comic relief.
    The green cardi? Frog it and knit the smaller size. Reasons? 1. You are already unhappy with it. 2. The yarn is too beautiful to waste on an unloved sweater. 3. It doesn’t fit, even as a loose drop sleeve, IMHO. 4. There is a part of our brains as knitters that is extremely resistant to unraveling hard work. That is no excuse to continue wasting effort on a lost cause. 5. It will likely grow in the blocking.

    • @meeshyfrazzknits
      @meeshyfrazzknits  Před 15 dny +1

    I agree with some of the other folks - I feel like if your questioning the cardigan, just rip it back, you may never wear it otherwise and that's a lot of work to not get used. Good luck!

  • @lisaglassberg9541

    I am pear-shaped (with narrow shoulders) and as a result, I like to make 2 modifications to many sweaters (including cardigans). First I create an a-line shape, after splitting for the sleeves, simply by adding rounds where I make 4 stitch increases (for a top-down sweater), 2 on either side of the BOR with 2 knit stitches between and the same on the opposite side of the BOR. I figure out my rate of increasing based on the length I’m knitting, my row gauge, and the circumference I’d like at my hips. This way you can choose to knit a smaller size for less ease at the top, then add the increase so you end up with the ease you want at your hips. The second modification I like to make is to add a split hem.

    • @meeshyfrazzknits
      @meeshyfrazzknits  Před 15 dny

      These are great modifications! I love a split hem for that very reason.

  • @Andracrafts

    Your flock socks are very cute! For your Prismatic, I think your colors are great. I personally probably would have only done the 2 blues: light on top, darker in the middle and then back to light. The yellow or pink would be my preferences for a 3rd color, but I think the lime gives less of a "baby" color vibe. For your cardigan, I think the size is fine. I'm not really familiar with the construction of this one, but if you cast on sts at the underarm, maybe you could pull back to there and cast on fewer to bring the body size in a little bit, which would also save you some yarn. Thanks for sharing!

    • @meeshyfrazzknits
      @meeshyfrazzknits  Před 16 dny +1

      Thanks! The light, dark, then light blue option was my second pick!

  • @mollyinred
    @mollyinred Před 16 dny

    I think you should frog the cardigan and redo one size down - if it was coming out to be 8” of positive ease like recommended and you were on the fence I would say keep going, but 11” (3” over) is too much if you’re already nervous about oversized garments in general, especially since it will prob grow a little more with blocking. Redoing also saves you the worry of buying more yarn and dye lot issues. I’ve been in this situation plenty of times with knit garments and that nagging feeling about fit is never wrong. You will be glad you redid it!

    • @meeshyfrazzknits
      @meeshyfrazzknits  Před 15 dny

      I think you're right! I was avoiding but in my gut I know I want the smaller size.

  • @sticksstringsandotherthings

    For that cardigan, I'd see if you have (or could borrow) something that has similar ease and try that on. Then you can see how it feels before you continue with your knitting. I play yarn chicken too much, and doing so on a piece that I am not even sure of the fit on would make that worse!

  • @krautkopf65
    @krautkopf65 Před 16 dny

    Love the socks. I wished I wasn’t a beginner sock knitter. On the cardigan… oh man that’s a tough one. Last year it seemed like I played and lost the yarn chicken a lot. Sooo frustrating. I honestly don’t know what I would do. Just writing this I’ve changed my mind a few times 🤷🏻‍♀️ looking forward to see what you decided to do.

    • @meeshyfrazzknits
      @meeshyfrazzknits  Před 16 dny +1

      It's so hard, right!? The indecision is strong when you're on the fence about a garment. I'm leaning towards ripping it out and starting over, tbh.

  • @Andrea-di9ju
    @Andrea-di9ju Před 16 dny

    Those sock are amazing and I may suffer the toe up version to have them.
    For the cardigan … you have to be comfortable in it even if it technically looks good. If you don’t think you will reach for it just knowing it has that much ease, change sizes. I have two sweaters (one cardigan and one pullover) that have more ease than I like and while I get told they look great on, I rarely wear them because abuse I don’t feel comfortable in them. I also agree with the commenter who talked about the size of the sleeves…. If you do keep it, adjust the sleeve circumference so they are a bit more fitted (not tight).

    • @meeshyfrazzknits
      @meeshyfrazzknits  Před 16 dny

    Personally I would rip back the green cardigan and make a smaller size. Watching as you wear it and move around I think it’s so big that the mass of fabric is folding over and covering the beautiful button band which is a shame. Perhaps watch the footage and see what you think.

    Regarding your cardigan. I, too am a 34 bust and prefer my tops to be tailored-not fitted, 4" ease is my happy place. I have a pullover that has 9" of positive ease that I constantly wear. At home. I find it comfy and sweatshirt-y. For a cardigan I feel like I would like maybe 6-8" ease due to the fact that I will wear something under it. I love the colour you chose for your cardi. When you tried it on, I thought it looked like you were wearing someone else's top, if that makes sense. I think the smaller size would suit you better since you have a small frame. The bigger size may look like you're swimming in it. I hope it works well whatever you chose! Also the bigger size will give you more fabric under the arms. I would find that uncomfortable-you might not!

    Hi Michelle. In my opinion, I think you should rip back the cardigan and knit a smaller size. Like you, I am very small on top (I wear a petite small in store bought garments) with a larger bottom. I find overly large garments just overwhelm my body and look sloppy. The cardigan seems to just overwhelm your small upper half and I don't think you will be happy with the final fit. I also find a big difference between oversized pullovers and oversized cardigans. The dropped shoulder also lends itself to more fabric around the bust and knitting it an entire size larger could make for a very large garment. Just my opinion. I also hate lots of positive ease in my garments. P.S. The sheep socks are adorable!

    The fact that you’re in doubt about the cardigan says it all. I’m afraid that you will not be happy with your cardigan if you continue. Smaller size if you like the drop shoulder design. Even consider whether it’s only the size or also the design. Maybe drop shoulder is not for you.
