    Thank you for the creative video on making beeswax candles. Your techniques, safety aspects, and decorating ideas and tips were well liked. Hand dipping long tapered candles is challenging but very rewarding when actually getting the hang of it and well received and rewarded with gratitude and appreciation to the ones I would give to as gifts, the friends and family I care for. Thanks

    Thank you for the video. I love to hear the Hawaii bird sounds in the background, it reminds me of our trip to Maui. Can't wait to try this out for gifts this year.

      LOL I don't even notice the birds in the background anymore :) Thanks for watching! Let me know how they turn out :)

    Candle toppers are also very good at making a container candle to burn cleanly and burn all the wax. Looks nice too.

      Thank you! Beeswax is so much fun. I could make a 100 videos about things to do with beeswax and an added bonus is that if you're a beekeeper, it's free!

    I just loved your video on candle making. Can you show us how to do the tall candlesticks on your next video? And how do we collect the wax. I am a new bee keeper. Love your videos.

    • @BeekeepingMadeSimple
      @BeekeepingMadeSimple  Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you! To collect the wax, you will either have a bunch of squished honeycomb from a honey harvest or from honeycomb not being used in teh beehive anymore. I made a video showing how to harvest this and melt it down to make a clean piece of wax in these videos (it's a three part series)

      step 2- czcams.com/video/TDKhPm3LnmI/video.htmlsi=kHtuCBuv1UPKDGCX

      I, actually, have never made beeswax candlesticks other than the ones you make from rolling a sheet of beeswax foundation. You need a really tall, metal container and have to heat up a lot of wax. I never wanted to buy the equipment for it because candle sticks weren't big sellers at the farm I worked for. But thank you for the suggestion and if I ever look into making candle sticks I will definitely make a video about it.

    Thank you for sharing. I have made candles with my beeswax before, however I never added coconut oil to them. My next batch I will. I feel much better seeing your crock pot...mine looks about the same, but does the trick. Enjoy your videos very much.

      Hah! Yes, my crock pot isn't pretty, but it works :) Thank you for watching and for the comment! It's always nice to hear from people watching my videos. Let me know how the candles come out with the coconut oil added.

    I have no issue with a hot plate and the pour pitcher to melt bees wax. Just have to be logical about adjusting the temp. So much easier than double boiler and dealing with water.

    • @BeekeepingMadeSimple
      @BeekeepingMadeSimple  Před 3 měsíci

      So you put a pitcher of wax directly on the heat? I would assume that would take considerably longer because you only heating up the bottom of the wax and you can't just put it on high heat to make it go faster but Thank you for the comment.

    What's your opinion on wood wicks with beeswax?

    • @BeekeepingMadeSimple
      @BeekeepingMadeSimple  Před 3 měsíci

      I think they look really nice, but I've never tested them next to a cotton wick to see if they burn at the same speed. Have you used them before?

  • @chumpyd8888

    Have you ever tried using a wooden wick??

    • @BeekeepingMadeSimple
      @BeekeepingMadeSimple  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I haven't, but just because it's taking me forever to get through these bags of cotton wicks 'i already bought. I wonder how fast they burn. They look pretty nice.

      Thanks! I bought a spool of candle wick from Mann Lake years ago and am still using it. I've also bought it from amazon when looking for a small amount.
