I was having a conversation with someone last night talking about how my sister and I were raised watching The Cosby Show, 227 and all of the great 80's/90's sitcoms. There is still hope for NBC.
The Golden Girls, 227, The Cosby Show, A Different World., and so on. NBC was definitely a staple of my childhood. Now watching these shows as reruns are not the same as seeing them in their original airing.
NBC Daytime line-up For The 1987-88 season 9:00 $ale Of The Century 9:30 Classic Concentration 10:00 Wheel Of Fortune 10:30 Win Lose Or Draw 11:00 Super Password 11:30 Scrabble 12:00 Days Of Our Lives 1:00 Another World 2:00 Santa Barbara
Rob Mounsey and the great NBC Universal Orchestra did an awesome job on this latter. Robert Armbruster was the arranger. Leo Arnaud, Jack Elliott, Camille Fielding, Jack Hayes and Leonard Slatkin were the conductors and orchestrators. All were under the guidance of NBC Universal's Kathy Nelson. Come Home to NBC! Spot Aired Fall 1987.
@@johnnyballenatl MCA is no longer owned Universal on December 9, 1996. It was re-folded and re-named into Universal International Studios and NBC Universal beginning in the spring of 1997.
Here in Brazil, a major TV station in the country called SBT (in Portuguese: "Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão") used this song for NBC to make the vignette of the station in 1990. The vignette is called "Come What is Good" (in Potuguese: "Vem Que é Bom").
I was wondering where the previous copy went, which had the well-known NBC/Disney announcer declaring "Come on Home to the 1987-88 season!" at the beginning. (That same poster also added localized Come Home '87 promos from KYW in Philly). Of course, the quality Tom posts them in here always take the cake!
Bailey, I think 'xxxx' read very carefully, thank you. When you say the promo is badly done, that pretty much reflects on the stars themselves as well as the network. I don't know what you find inferior about it, but the production vaules are top notch and the premise is fun and lively. It really taps into the character of the actors and who they're known for portraying. If this had actually turned out to be a bad promo, i'm sure NBC's viewership would have suffered as a result.
At 1:05, that's Darth Vader and at 2:17, the scene of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker have a lightsaber duel from Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back for the first time on NBC in 1987.
isn't there another version of the video that got deleted, at the beginning had the flashing lines read "1987-88 Season" On A Purple Background. Had The Announcer Saying " Come on Home to the 1987-88 Season"?
Well, since my comment some years ago, NBC has seen a resurgence thanks to Sunday Night Football and The Voice. They're still #1 with Nightly News (even without Brian Williams) and in late night, but the Today Show has fallen to #2 behind GMA.
Her brother, Jason (already a teen success playing Derek in the early two seasons of "Silver Spoons", so-so playing Matt Burton in "It's Your Move", but much more successful as David Hogan in "The Hogan Family") was also in the promo, too. And I think we all know what happened to him as of today, right?

NBC was gold from 1984 until the rest of the decade. No one could touch it!
It stays that way!
well Dynasty was the number one show in 1985 if that counts as gold
Jackee Harry provided her own vocals in this promo!
the catchiest promo jingle in the history of utter mankind

Seven Network Australia used parts of the promo for the "Let's Celebrate '88" campaign.
Fantastic! I hear they don't make promos like this any more in America, but over here in Britain they NEVER made them like this...
The cgi was so relevant, even in the late '80s
Existe aqui no Brasil uma vinheta como essa com o nome "Vem que é Bom pro Sbt"
Those were the days…
awesome commercial
This promo inspiration to SBT in 1990, in promo 'Vem que é bom'
No, that would be Howie Mandel. He was on St. Elsewhere at the time.
Come Home to TV-11, WLUK-TV, Green Bay/Appleton/Fox Cities, Wisconsin (now a FOX affiliate)
in 1988, Seven Network Australia, copied the scenes from the promo for the Let's Celebrate '88 campaign.
Fun Fact: Markie Post was pregnant when this was filmed in Summer 1987. That’s why they have Mindy Cohn walking in front of her at 1:45

Guess the new Tonight Show is moving back to its original home: New York, NY.

Who's the NBC/Disney announcer's name, anybody..?
BR version: Vem Que é Bom - SBT (1990)
Justine Bateman looks beautiful in this promo. How great was Family Ties

In Brazil SBT TV made a similar promo with the same music. But, in Portuguese, of course.
Funny to check it out.

Who's the woman at 0:15?
Deidre Hall. She’s best known for playing Marlena on Days of Our Lives, but at the time of this promo she was on the family drama Our House.

The only thing that ruins this promo is...Jay Leno. Who calls affiliates and spreads rumors about Johnny's retirement? Jay Leno!
Im Jay Leno...I'ts O.K., Im Jay Leno.
Porno?
The only thing that ruins this promo is...Jay Leno. Who calls affiliates and spreads rumors about Johnny's retirement? Jay Leno!
I said it was one of the worst promos. Not that the shows were'nt good. READ, something and understand it before you make an accusation without merit.
One of the Worst NBC Fall Show Promos.
@johnnyafairbanks even USA network has better stuff than NBC
