Regarding story in From Software games: I never watched a single Vaatividya video, they’re absolutely not required to get something out of their games. I love slowly unraveling the lore in Souls / Elden Ring / Sekiro / Bloodborne games through the item descriptions and small bits you get in cutscenes. I won’t claim to always have full knowledge of the true nature of each world they create (not sure even Vaatividya could claim that), but to me it’s like I’m an archaeologist discovering fragments of long gone civilizations with every item I grab. Every new playthrough of one of their games enhances that experience, because I’m always finding one piece of gear I missed, or getting one extra dialogue from an npc which I didn’t before, so they’re always fresh.
The feeling of finally facing a legendary boss (thinking of Ludwig, Miquella, Nameless King, Artorias etc) late in the game, one you heard so much about in many item descriptions and npc conversations before, is unmatched

Wow I can’t believe Hoeg played Hellblade 2 on his TV Speakers at low volume while listening to old depositions. No wonder he didn’t like it!

RIP Lance…I’ve been consistently playing Destiny since 2015 & I will be “enjoying” Final Shape upon its deepest discount as I now find Bungie to be a loathsome organization worthy of the ire it has earned.
    Love you guys! ♥️✊🏿

I have similar feelings about Doom Eternal. I loved 2016, but I played a few hours of Eternal, and it just didn't click, I still never went back to it.

Yeah for whatever reason - it didn't hit like 2016 for many of us it seems.

IDK if I'll have another comment later, so I'll go all in on how long Rome existed as an empire, the answer is not as simple as you think. You can look at the fall of the city of Rome as the end of the empire in 400 AD, but then the capital/government was moved to Babylon (modern day Istanbul, Turkey) and continued to operate for another 300 years. HOWEVER, if you want to get really technical, royal families that could trace their lineage back to Rome continued to hold power in various nation states around Europe throughout the middle ages up until the 1800s. So a historian would not immediately dismiss the argument that "Rome" existed until then, depending on what an "empire" constitutes - is it all about leadership and who your taxes are flowing through, or do the culture/art/architecture define the empire? Because whether Rome existed or not, your tax doubloons (and by "your" of course I mean whatever land owner you happened to work for) were going to the same people either way.

Wait…did Hoeg top his RE6 vs RE8 take today? Personally I think no, as I didn’t like HB 1 & I’m not enjoying HB 2, but then again, I gave away my PS5 after TLOU2…I’m a gameplay first kinda guy.
I prefer to watch movies & play games…but hey, that’s just me 😊

Fair enough! As we always say, if our show had 4 people with the exact same opinions it would be quite boring!
