It’s quite ironic how many of the so called great musicians of said “ hair band” era have come and gone, yet Winger has survived, if not progressed, to one of the most proficient, talented and widely recognized talented musicians in the rock world!
Are you shitting me? This is quite simply brilliant! Winger just keep getting better and better with age - truly amazing stuff, which puts many other older rock bands to shame. It doesn''t get much heavier than this!! And tight as fuck on all the time changes!! Bravo!!!
I am just amazed at how Kip's voice continues to be great 25 years after their first record. He's hitting full voice high notes that are just insane. I would say his tone is actually better now than in the 80's.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Emmett Julius i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
The early stuff they put out was fairly cheesy but no worse than a lot of the rubbish put out in the hair metal era. The “Pull” album had some really great stuff and they were and remain stellar musician that always seem to get a tough time in the media unfortunately.
Anybody written a comprehensive lyrical song recently? It ain’t easy. Recognize this band who has been writing music, for the love of music, for almost four decades now, as one of the great rock bands in Amercan rock history. Very talented group of musicians.
Honestly...just seeing these guys back bought a tear to my eye. Finally, music is making sense again. Reb, your guitar sounds just as good as it did in the 80's. This a great progressive song with once again kip's killer vocals.
Watching Kip’s journey into orchestral composition, it’s so very cool seeing this type of cross-over. Very rarely do you hear such music with these musical elements AND a message on top. Kudos brother! Never disappointed......
Every musician in this band is incredible. This song is proof. Each on of them has to be dead-on, or you could hear it even if you aren't a musician. The timing in this song is extremely difficult. They are very tight. Its very strange to me that this is first time I've heard this song. But definitely not the last.
I'm hoping that this reopens the door to great rock music here in American. I think we have been without it long enough. Enough of all that modern music, hip hop club BS. The world needs our rock heros back, musicians that actually know how to play
I love the intro on the piano, Reb and John never seize to amaze me at their guitar playing, Kip still can kill it on the base and vocals. Rod still amazes me on the drums. Just love the whole feel on this song from the composition, lyrics, music and especially the video.
So far I have really liked all 3 songs off the new album. Cannot wait to hear the entire thing. Kip's voice is in fine form and as always the entire band sounds excellent. Really hope people give this album a chance and listen.
Great, as they always have been. Even in the early 90s their music was carefully made and arranged; even more so since "Pull". Some people saw them as "pretty pop-rock band" but they were overlooking the material made by someone who, at the time, was becoming one of the greatest rock composers of his time: Kip Winger. This guy went to music university. In 2010 he even composed classical pieces. His musical knowledge and good taste can be best appreciated in his solo albums.
YES! Kip is using the strap I lent (Dave) his guitar tech a straplock at the Charlotte show...my straplock is now in a WINGER video...and the video is KILLER!!! LOVE IT!
wow. 5/4 vrs 4/4 time is so progressive. This is a very creative song. And then the vocals about all the inner struggles that we all go through. Wow. This is not your normal 80's hair band. This band is up there with Opeth and Dream theater as far as talent goes. wow
Note to X-Factor...this is big boys (and girls) grown up music with talent, not the poisonous spew you come out with every week..thank fuck bands like these from the 70's and 80's are still rockin!
I bet Rod loved this one being a Fusion/Prog type drummer (yes he can play anything you throw at him)! Awesome playing from all on board and Kip still had his voice wow! 👍
they were the poster children for all that was wrong about 80s metal for a while, which is sorta sad as they are all killer musicians and were really eaten alive by the machine as it were.
Their first album was unfortunately in the midst of this 80's hair metal era but In The Heart Of The Young was a major leap forward for them, Unfortunately, again, this was released around the time Grunge was in full swing. Pull suffered the same fate and nobody listened. IV for me was their magnum opus and I was hooked from the first listen. Karma mixed the old with the new and I was hooked immediately. I have had Better Days Comin' for over two weeks now and I can say that this is their best album yet! It mixes all I loved about IV with the immediacy of rock with Karma. Tin Soldier is them at their progressive best but those looking for more will be disappointed. The title track is their tribute to Kiss, Rat Race is their early Maiden at their best, but Out Of This World is the best track Winger has ever done! I cannot stop listening to it! This album is for ALL Winger fans past and present as it is so diverse, constantly changing from one track to the next. The ballads are the only let down, especially Be Who You Are, Now. It's not a bad track but it belongs o a Kip solo album, not here! 96/100 for me. Trust me, it will be worth the wait!
I love how people who thought these guys sucked back in the 80s now are listening to their most recent material and are like 'oh fuck yeah this rocks!' They ALWAYS were GREAT musicians! They could make Metallica definitely look like pussies now.
Couldn't have said it better! Once a Winger fan, always! Back in the day i saw Winger live on Arsenio Hall and had to go downtown to Sam the record man to pick up the album. They have always made great tunes and Reb Beach is a fav for sure! Cheers, MBN
Laur Fagadar Metallica isn't even in the same solar system as Winger in terms of talent. Metallica are a bunch of washed up has-beens that were never better than average even at their best. Although I admit I did like most of their music up until And Justice For All (their last decent album). Kip Winger himself said this: "That is why it's the great irony that we ended up on that geeky guy's shirt on Beavis & Butt-head, because Metallica couldn't play what we play, they couldn't do it, they literally - technically - couldn't do it. And I'll challenge those chumps to that any day of the week, but we could play their music with our hands tied behind our back. And so, I was a little teed off about that, but in the end, none of that shit matters..."
Alright lets not BASH Metallica! I like both bands a lot. I heard of Winger from their first album on up! They are all great musicians.I am loving Wingers new music. Reb, Kip, Rod, and John are very talented and even the guys from Metallica so stop the bashing and just listen to the music. Rock and Roll!
Wow! This is certainly an extension of IV, which is my favorite Winger album to date. As much as I look forward to the new release and enjoy the other songs I have heard, it would be incredible to hear more material like this in the future.
I lost track of Winger after their second release, but always liked them. Look at the back catalog I have to catch up on now. Kip! Dude, thanks for keeping the dream alive!
Amazing as always.... Kip and the guys have never disappointed me (except by taking so damn long between albums). I hope they can make it through Seattle soon!
In the days that true metal became competitive with one another and slammed WINGER for what they stood for, I would sit in my English class saying "one day it will all fade away and the memories of tis great rock era will be their torchure" and finally when it did and modern life killed the rock star..I just looked at them now decaying and wishing they had it all back. I'm thankful I liked everything from WINGER to DEICIDE...I always stayed faithful to the art of rock and metal. Feels good to actually hear a guitar rck solo after all these year..??.
People dont get this...without Winger there would be no Dream Theater or other Progressive Metal acts. Yes Rush were the Godfathers but Winger held the torch in the early 90s and if it weren't for grunge they may have broke the mold. Extremely underrated musicians musicians band that got labeled as hair metal. Yes it helped them with popularity but they were so much more beneath the surface. Just break out those first two albums or their demos and you'll get whawt i mean.
wonderful.. incorporating classical into "classsical" masterpiece riffs..the rhythm & lead guitar are simply replacing the piano.. & it works..incredibly ...wonderfully well..this relatively new album is w/o a doubt Winger's best rock work yet...just like a fine wine
Я учился у людей не менее гениальных, чем Winger, но тут что-то запредельное, как это можно сочинить, придумать? Гармония, плюс рифф в голове не укладываются, а слушаются просто превосходно!!!
Great song especially if you understand music. They are constantly changing from major to minor chords and being that I sing with a group, it's not easy to sing what Kip is singing. Great stuff!
Right on! Liking his use of sustain at "Come hide inside, come in under.' His voice almost floats on top of the other sounds and it works so well with what Reb is doing on guitar there. Love the use of odd meter, too.
Metallica needs to watch this and see how its really done. 🎸🎵🎶
Metalica after 90 is a bad joke
I am completely impressed. What a great song. Much better like Dream Theater etc.. Winger is now one of my new favorite bands.
Bravo!!!
As a guitar player I always loved Reb Beach, Man! His fluid sounding tone is amazing.
The fact that Kip still has a vocal range like he does ....just wow. Definitely using proper technique
Damn, this song is the definition of prog!!! Those time signatures! Major and Minor movements. Wow!
I am just amazed at how Kip's voice continues to be great 25 years after their first record. He's hitting full voice high notes that are just insane. I would say his tone is actually better now than in the 80's.
This is High Quality Rock / Hard Rock / Metal with a strong Progressive vein
queen babylon and better days coming are my favorite songs. ❤
Pure professionalism, every note is right. They sound live great. Maestro Winger!
We 💯 agree, criminally underrated band.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Kayden Maximiliano instablaster :)
@Emmett Julius i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Emmett Julius it worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account :D
Very well could be the best Winger song I've ever heard. That's a LOT of music crammed into less than four minutes. Awesome!
Winger got crap being dismissed
as a hair band, when in reality they are
great musicians.
Great musicians doesn't neccessarily mean great music... they might been in the hands of record companies wanting hits...
The early stuff they put out was fairly cheesy but no worse than a lot of the rubbish put out in the hair metal era. The “Pull” album had some really great stuff and they were and remain stellar musician that always seem to get a tough time in the media unfortunately.
Musicianship was always top notch. Lyrics? Not so much, especially on the first album.
Anybody written a comprehensive lyrical song recently? It ain’t easy. Recognize this band who has been writing music, for the love of music, for almost four decades now, as one of the great rock bands in Amercan rock history. Very talented group of musicians.
They're so much more than that. Reb is a guitar genius & Kip? Master at work
To me they write tunes on a bachian level. Winger is ahead of their time so to speak. I am thankful I found them as a young kid
Honestly...just seeing these guys back bought a tear to my eye. Finally, music is making sense again. Reb, your guitar sounds just as good as it did in the 80's. This a great progressive song with once again kip's killer vocals.
Have you heard "Out of this World" yet? Some of Reb's best soloing. IMO, he is just improving all the time!
Í have loved winger since headed for a heartbreak 💔
Watching Kip’s journey into orchestral composition, it’s so very cool seeing this type of cross-over. Very rarely do you hear such music with these musical elements AND a message on top. Kudos brother! Never disappointed......
Winger Great !!! Epic !!! Forever!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻!!!
Now we are talkin' This is what music should sound like. Awesome Winger is still around. Great tune "HEAR"!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!
Rod's snare sounds AWESOME
Dude, he sounds that good standing 10 feet away on a 'backline' rented set too...I've been there...they are all awesome people and players....
Yep. Been there
I have said before...Kip Winger is Genius...anyone care to second that>?????
I agree 100%
Every musician in this band is incredible. This song is proof. Each on of them has to be dead-on, or you could hear it even if you aren't a musician. The timing in this song is extremely difficult. They are very tight. Its very strange to me that this is first time I've heard this song. But definitely not the last.
I'm shocked at how good this sounds...
Yeah, now buy all their old stuff too. It has always been laced with this!
I'm hoping that this reopens the door to great rock music here in American. I think we have been without it long enough. Enough of all that modern music, hip hop club BS. The world needs our rock heros back, musicians that actually know how to play
This makes me happy. Always loved Winger. They haven't skipped a beat
This song is AWESOME! It sounds like they've been hanging out with Dream Theater. I love the melody in this song.
I love the intro on the piano, Reb and John never seize to amaze me at their guitar playing, Kip still can kill it on the base and vocals. Rod still amazes me on the drums. Just love the whole feel on this song from the composition, lyrics, music and especially the video.
Holy crap is this a great song! Always loved Winger, nice to see the magic is back on this album..
I've always been a fan of Kip Winger. This song sounds good.
Arguably their best track.
Never been a winger fan but this track is brilliant, top top tune
Incredible song! just like the rest of the album, Winger are such a misunderstood and underated band.
Holy crap! This is awesome! Love how it has a modern hard rock sound.
Pull is a killer album. Light years ahead of the old stuff.
So far I have really liked all 3 songs off the new album. Cannot wait to hear the entire thing. Kip's voice is in fine form and as always the entire band sounds excellent. Really hope people give this album a chance and listen.
Creativity at its best! So glad to see Kip and Co. back in the swing(heavy swing!)of things!!
This one tops them all. Superb in every way. Dynamics, ideas and execution. Just amazing.
Love Winger
always great song great vocals and great music
this is music not the sad crap they play on the radio today
bubble gum pop
Great playing, great tune, GREAT DRUMS !
Wow. Progressive Rock at it's best. Thank you Winger.🤯
Great, as they always have been. Even in the early 90s their music was carefully made and arranged; even more so since "Pull". This guy went to music university. In 2010 he even composed classical pieces. His musical knowledge and good taste can be best appreciated in his solo albums.
Awesome rock n roll. A true vocalist meshing with a talented band. Solid!
Wow! Prog-melodic-hard? Incredible!!!
Absolutely amazing! Prog rock Winger is definitely something they should explore more.
Love It!! This reminds me of their incredible release, PULL, that sadly never got the respect it deserved at the time.
Nice tune. I like the prog elements and that it plays around with time signatures. The one is my favorite of the new Winger tunes.
This band is up there with Opeth and Dream theater as far as talent goes. wow
Top tune right here. Love it.
This song is like a dream.
Music a great band writes and plays when absent of corrupt and controlling record companies!
My favorite rock band!
Always loved winger.💯
Note to X-Factor...this is big boys (and girls) grown up music with talent, not the poisonous spew you come out with every week..thank fuck bands like these from the 70's and 80's are still rockin!
I bet Rod loved this one being a Fusion/Prog type drummer (yes he can play anything you throw at him)! Awesome playing from all on board and Kip still had his voice wow! 👍
Interesting to think they were once considered a pretty-boy pop-rock band. Nothing like that here. Gone full prog-rock. Good stuff.
They were always more than that once people got past the image. They've turned out some fantastic, well-crafted songs and this one's no exception.
they were the poster children for all that was wrong about 80s metal for a while, which is sorta sad as they are all killer musicians and were really eaten alive by the machine as it were.
That they were, Todd!

Never been disappointed by one of theirs yet, Craig!
I love it!!! Very prog, and it's pretty clear than Mr. Morguestein is playing and sounding like he want. Chapeau.
My jaw is still on the floor!!! Incredible!!
This is a progressive song and it fits perfectly to these amazing musicians.
Brilliant music from brilliant musicians.
I love how people who thought these guys sucked back in the 80s now are listening to their most recent material and are like 'oh fuck yeah this rocks!' They ALWAYS were GREAT musicians! They could make Metallica definitely look like pussies now.
They ALWAYS make Metallica look like beginners...
Couldn't have said it better!
Once a Winger fan, always!
Back in the day i saw Winger live on Arsenio Hall and had to go downtown to Sam the record man to pick up the album.
They have always made great tunes and Reb Beach is a fav for sure!

Well, I didn't like the old stuff either. This is just more my style of music. Then again, never been much of a metallica man either...
incredible, a masterpiece

Oh, yea, just listened to Rat Race and this track. I'm hooked again.
Beautiful video for a great tune! I like Rod's playing on this one very much... :-)
Man - Kip's voices hasn't changed a bit!!!
Good to have them back.
Wow, nice polyrhythm in the intro... really great prog song!
I like this song a lot. Winger gets the last laugh.. Great band
Sometimes maturity is a good thing, especially with musicians...
Amazing as always.... Kip and the guys have never disappointed me (except by taking so damn long between albums). I hope they can make it through Seattle soon!
I'm surprised: It's been such a long time since i Heard your last album This song is really cool, Congrat,
LOVE this! Chill-inducing stuff on the chorus and the ending is just killer. I am now officially excited for this new album.
Feels good to actually hear a guitar rck solo after all these year..??.
I really love this one..beautiful groove
Yes! I LOVE 5/8! (or 10/8)
Love it! ...has that inimitable, progressive drive that has always made Winger superior. No doubt this will be my summer "go to" album!
Wow...Very progressive. Well done...
Dixie Dreggs drummer, what would you expect!
Am I the only one who thinks this is like Dream Theater? It's pure progressive sound
This song is awesome!!! Can't wait for the new album :)

Winger returns and goes prog rock on our asses?! Good on you Kip! Fucking A I'll allow it! Yeah!
Winger masterpiece💪
Winger- masters 😀
Я учился у людей не менее гениальных, чем Winger, но тут что-то запредельное, как это можно сочинить, придумать? Гармония, плюс рифф в голове не укладываются, а слушаются просто превосходно!!!
amazing work... yay for Mr Winger and band-mates!
Brilliant song, without going on for too long and being pointless.
HEY!!!! now they show what they could do! amazing song.
Meaty sound and really quite Prog! I'm very pleasantly surprised… buying this now.
Great song especially if you understand music. They are constantly changing from major to minor chords and being that I sing with a group, it's not easy to sing what Kip is singing. Great stuff!

Love the use of odd meter, too.
My favourite part is the 4/4 piano part being syncopated behind the 5/8 of the main riff! Very cool
This band really should have had a post-glam/hair prog career alongside their legacy tours.
This is actually pretty damn good.
+Jack Ng-Dong - No shit!! :)
Terrific class here! Welcome back Winger \m/
Absolutely fantastic!! I love it!!!
Best song they ever did. They should abandon the "Seventeen" crowd (which I'm a part of, by the way), and go full on prog. They're clearly good at it.
Once again, Winger continues to evolve and improve their craft.
Please guys, come to France to rock the house !
These ostinato melodies are so damn cool.
