They could sing & play Rock, Folk, R&B, Country, and Gospel, unlike the Beatles who appealed to mostly Caucasians!!!! 5 decades of playing music, the Beatles were a short-lived band who just sold a lot of records, Lennon was an arrogant fool on the hill who compared their popularity to Jesus Christ, karma's a bi*ch, hey John.

    3 brothers, one microphone.sibling harmony is the best.

    • @audiolaudio8965
      @audiolaudio8965 Před měsícem

      Why were 3 people sharing 1 microphone when obviously they could have easily each had their own? The answer hearkens back to the times of the early 50's and 60's when performers such as Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the BeeGees etc. were in the early days of their careers and had not yet achieved their later financial successes and fame. In those early years, each microphone represented a significant financial cost to them. To reduce the number of microphones that were needed, musicians would often pair up on one microphone particularly those musicians providing vocal harmonies (in some cases 3 voices would converge on 1 microphone - The 3 BeeGee brothers - Robyn, Maurice and Barry did do this quite often and are a perfect example of this ... particularly in the above video recording of a live performance in a charity benefit concert of them performing their song "Too Much Heaven" ... a masterful use of 1 microphone shared by 3 people and with stunning result!). But to use one microphone effectively in this way required practice, practice and more practice and discipline wherein the needed skill and coordination of the performers would gradually be acquired. The closeness or proximity of each performer to the single microphone would determine the needed dynamics of each voice, moment by moment, throughout the performance and in itself represented an act of choreography. It was a practice primarily from the 60's when musicians had a significantly lesser amount of capital available for the acquisition of musical equipment that was needed. But, it was an approach that actually worked very well and because of that, performers from that era, still employ it often as a preference and are not quick to abandon it. FYI.

    Hello Lily, I’m a Headbanger like you but I grew up in the 80s so I got to live it… And about your age I started expanding my music which you’re gonna find out there’s so much out there. I was a DJ for 25 years in show clubs, where we only played rock ‘n’ roll… The one thing about the Bee Gees a lot of people do not know, that one time they were as big as the Beatles… When the Beatles began, you were either a Beatles fan or Bee Gees fan I don’t know much of old music, but I had a friend who taught me about them who was just as big as a BG fan as he was a Beatle fan… Just thought you’d like to know

    You answered your own question. It was pure music. The orchestra, the voices, the music, everything. There were no computers fixing mistakes, it had to be done right and it had to be done well, and they knew it. Hence, perfection. As a side note, in those days a person needed talent and lots of it to make it. If that person happened to be attractive it was a bonus. Today, it seems the person must look good and be young, and talent is a nice bonus. Of course, maybe it just looks that way to me.

    The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (the one in the middle, with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988.
    They were great vocalists and harmonizers, however this clip is NOT a live version of this song, but they're miming to the studio version. They never sang this falsetto version of the song live, but during concerts always sang a shorter version in their normal voices as part of a medley. It was very hard for them to include ALL their songs or even ALL their hits in their concerts, because they had so many, so they used to do shorter versions of many of their hits in medleys. 10 years after the original recording live in 1989 in Australia: czcams.com/video/HFG2z3vaOLg/video.html 18 years after the original recording live in Las Vegas in 1997: czcams.com/video/NSsD-Uc24OM/video.html, 20 years later in 1999 in Australia: czcams.com/video/qtTvO3-9HiQ/video.html In 2001 in NY: czcams.com/video/a6kAvg0F4OI/video.html.
    The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. All 4 brothers are just natural musical talents. All of them dropped out of high school in their early teens and none of them could read or write music. All their compositions were created completely organically.
    Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1967. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced).
    From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them).
    You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too czcams.com/video/7niXSh7vWRI/video.html
    Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: czcams.com/video/WH_j90fCIk4/video.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out czcams.com/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/video.html.
    From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: czcams.com/video/MT9vRHSWNbk/video.html.
    From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you czcams.com/video/CA4CInDnTk8/video.html.
    And from the 1990's the simple song Blue Island live in an accoustic version: czcams.com/video/162GlAEpfrY/video.html.
    Andy was kind of Barry's mini me, about half a foot shorter and 12 years younger but they were the only lefties of the family. However, his voice was nowhere near as broad in range or as strong as Barry's. As producer Alby Galuten said in the book "Tales of the brothers Gibb "Andy's falsetto was nowhere near Barry's." Andy had a lower, huskier, sound to his voice and his range was not as big as Barry's. I personally always thought his voice was much better suited to songs of his first album, Flowing Rivers. Andy died of myocarditis - which is an inflammation of the heart - on March 10, 1988, 5 days after his 30th birthday. His heart had been weakened by his drug addiction over the years which, by the way, was also the main reason for his split from Victoria Principal. He also had a congenital heart problem that was later also discovered in Barry and Barry's second son Ashley. Try listening to the song Dreamin' on czcams.com/video/-KdBVKcSSSw/video.html which is kind of a duet with Barry. And here are the 4 brothers live on stage in 1979 doing You Should Be Dancing czcams.com/video/_6MR-E_Qzz0/video.html And finally a few photos of Barry and Andy: i.postimg.cc/jS6n3Jkv/Barry-Andy.jpg and i.postimg.cc/TwnPh8M0/82c126fc42a35d3b737867af41338199.jpg and the 4 brothers with their mother i.postimg.cc/FRNMbwkD/b9b2561eadffee11347573c97063c2f8-zpsd89478eb.jpg

    They spent a lifetime together honing their craft. Their vibrato even Insync. The fact is harmonies will solidify together amongst family usually better than people from outside their families. Many recordings are done with lead singer doing harmonies with his own voice as it blends so well.
