Just watched this video by „Inside the Score“ about Lili Boulanger. She indeed was something very unusual and deserves prominence as much as Beethoven, Bach, Mozart and Co. This is so beautiful and it motivates me to practice this one piece by Franz Liszt. I planned to master it by end of April. But its sooo difficult I guess need a few more months😅
A truly superb and highly musical performance. These works by Lili Boulanger demand to be played with such fine musicianship, which you have clearly demonstrated here, along with an intimate familiarity with them, attained through hours of practice. Well done, and keep playing!
I listen to her music and the image of her dark eyes comes constantly to my mind. She was a remarkable composer and a special beauty... 'sui generis' in all senses...

Excellent performances of these marvelous pieces by a composer who deserves a much wider recognition. In particular the Thème et Variations is a magnificent composition. The obsessive repetition of the dark and somber theme makes it feel as much like a Passacaglia than a set of variations. Boulanger's piano writing is economic, concise and powerful, with organ-like sonorities reminiscent of Franck. Many thanks for making such a good case for this important repertoire !
