It should be added that the notes shown are those particular notes that belong to the G major scale, i.e. the major scale you would play if you start at the lowest string (G string) in open position. This is the reason why F# is played, and not F.
So I'm struggling for comfort on the E string. I often have minor pangs in my first or middle finger when keeping contact with the violin just behind my first finger. I've taken my practicing way back to basics, posture, violin hold, etc. in order to figure this out. You say, "keep your wrist nice and straight," but your wrist is out as opposed to straight with the forearm. Can you expand thoughts on this issue? Thank you

I have the exact problem and cant fix it. I have small hands short fingers and even shorter pinky, I thought maybe thats the reason
