This year's driver's license renewal form does ask us to check the box if we wanted a new voter registration. It had more to it and it was very unclear for us second language folks. Now seeing these news, I am concerned about what's going to happen to mine since I sent it through the mail. Unbelievable how corrupt this party has become. Shameful indeed.

They said that some "people came to their apartment, and gave them some form to sign regarding updating their voting registration; took copies of their driver's licence cards, and signatures. They weren't even able to explain what the whole thing was about. SMH!!!

She asked me if I was registered voter then she wanted me to make sure it’s correct because some politicians hire people to change registration.

I’ll never understand why they make voting so complex. When you learn about democracy and major vote as a child it’s so simple. Everyone gets a vote and the majority wins. While in reality they have all these steps like party affiliations and electoral college votes. There are way to many presidential elections that end with the winner not having the majority vote which completely undermines what we learn as children

I'm a registered Democrat in Florida. I moved here in 2019 from Massachusetts where I was registered Independent. A HUGE issue is that all of my voter registration information is readily available to the public online. Anybody can type in my name, or address and see my full name, party affiliation, cell phone number, and where I work. It's appalling.
They don't even need my name. They can just Google my street, or even neighborhood, and see lists of everybody's full information by address.
We have door to door Republicans down here who show up to debate why we're registered Democrat, and try to push a switch to register Republican. They're like pushy Jahovah's Witnesses.
That's not unique to Florida. In fact, it's the norm. Same with political contributions. Only a few states keep that info private. Florida is not one of them.

Virginia does not require you to declare a party affiliation.
Why does any state? It does not keep you from voting for any party you please. When we have a primary the poll worker asks which ballot we want. Why can't every state do this?
Thankfully, in Virginia we don't register by party and have open primaries. You stay registered if you vote at least every 4 years.

As a Canadian I never did understand why a citizen of the U.S. has to register under a party affiliation in order to vote. If you are an American citizen you should just have to register to vote if you are of legal age. To me it is no one’s business what party I am voting for in our elections and isn’t it one if the things that Americans hate more than anything - the government knowing their private business
In Michigan, if you go to a Secretary Of State to renew your drivers license or your license plate tab, you will be asked if you would like to register to vote if (1.) you have never been a registered voter, or (2.) if your address has changed. You are NEVER asked to declare your party of preference. That is your private personal choice. During a Primary Election however, you must vote your party of choice for each candidate that is on that ballot. During a General Election you can vote a straight party ballot, or a split party ballot. (republican, democrat, independent, green party, etc.) Why it is done that way, I do not know.
No person ever comes to your door to say you must renew your voters registration.

Ideally, it should be only employees of the county voters' registration office, but Florida allows employees of the tax collector's office to do it as well.

I live in Florida and I got a letter saying that they were updating their data and asked me to re-register. I went in and saw that I was still in there and all the info was correct and I didn't do anything. I wonder if that is what they were trying to do to me.

Every retirement home in Florida should be investigated to determine how widespread this interference in citizens' voter registration actually is.
