3 Tequila Sunrise Cocktails | Original, Classic & Pro (with Boba Pearls!)

- The Tequila Sunrise is a popular Disco era cocktail that actually dates back to the 1930s, and today it makes an appearance in the latest edition of Old vs New! If the cocktail seems out of place, it’s because it was chosen by our director, Robi, who wanted to see what I could make for a modern version of this drink as an early celebration for our joint birthday. So today we’ll begin by making the original 1930s Tequila Sunrise as it was printed in Bottoms Up! (Y Como), followed by the more known ‘70s version and ending with a modern take on this cocktail, adding Orange Super Juice, saline solution and Sunrise Boba Pearls - which combine grenadine and cassis for a world class drink! So pull up a chair and grab your precision scale for today’s festive episode, as I’m sure you’ll learn a lot. Cheers!

Happy early birthday to you guys 🎉! Next Old vs New there needs to be an extra one for momma to take home 😉
Happy Birthday, Robi and Kevin. Love seeing the whole crew in this episode.
Thank you so much!
Thank you, David! 🤩
Your whole team is awesome!!!!
Thank you!
With my current boba obsession, it'd be eating the pearls by the spoonful
🤤🤤🤤
That original version makes way more sense than the 70s one!
As always, great content. Where did you find the multibubbler? All the ones I see on amazon have awful to mediocre reviews and elsewhere they seem to be very similar...
Last but not least: double happy double birthday :))
Thank you, Mattia! 🤩
I bought it on Amazon. It worked just great. Thank You!
Those pearls are SO cool, Kevin! They remind me of a drink they used to sell here in the US back in the 90's called "Orbitz." It was a bottled drink that had little balls floating around in it. I loved it back when I was kid. Such a fun video guys!
Thank you! Cheers!
Happy Birthday! Thank you for all the sweet drink gifts you give us
Thanks a lot!
Wonderful episode guys and congratulations on your birthday.
Thank you!
Happy birthday guys. Another great episode.

Hvala!
Hvala, thank you! 🤩
Fantastic
Wow! We share the same birthday! Happy Birthday! 🍹
Thank you. Happy birthday to you too!
Happy birthday guys! This was definitively fun! I hope we get a dedicated episode for more uses of the orange super juice! 😁 it would be nice to have ideas on riffs on classics and improving cocktails that already use orange juice
Thank you so much! Cheers!
Hey Kevin! Great episode once again.. we love your cocktails.
Quick question! How long will these pearls last? & is there a way to store them?
Kevin is da bomb, happy birthday!!
Thanks a lot! It's best if they are stored in the juice. In this case mixture of pomegranate and creme de cassis, but you have to use it in a couple of hours for the best result. Cheers!
Never had Tequila Sunrise before! It is delicious! Now I want one. Far away. On a beach.
Pro version right? 🤩😉🥂
Let's go! 🏝️🍹🤩
It's your birthdays on November 19?! Mine too! I LOVE your videos! So informative and makes me thirsty! :)
Happy birthday, Birthday Buddy! 🤩
Happy birthday to you too! Thank you!
Happy birthday, guys! As for tequila cocktails I still prefer Margarita over anything else!
Thank you! 🤩
Thank you so much!
Happy Birthday guys. Love how the 70’s version gets (almost no) love.
Thank you! 😉🥂
Happy Birthday! I‘d love to see some videos regarding drink masters.
What exactly is the difference between the method used in the video and the method shown in drink masters (agar agar for the Cavíar)?
(Difference in Tast/Texture)?
This one pops in your mouth but the one with agar is more like a gel. Thank you!
"With that out of the way"
Pushes it away and doesn't bother to taste it. Lol.
Great work as always guys. I feel like pomegranate, tequila and orange juice have potential, just not in such an overly sweet drink. My thoughts? Daiquiri style - 2oz rum, 1oz citric acid boosted orange juice, 3/4oz grenadine. I'd go try it out now if it weren't 9:20am.
Let me know how it turns out when you'll try it out. Cheers!
Guy at the end reminds me of Bruce Banner at the end of the Old ass Hulk show where he would walk off into the sunset to go to another town.
Haha, you are right! 😁
@@KevinKos hahaha you made my day! Usually they say I'm more of a Clark Kent guy.
Kevin, great video once again - keep up the good work. I was wondering if you might have any books you'd recommend for creative mixology. I love the fact that you experiment with chemicals and other flavors not normally found in drinks and I was hoping you'd have a few books that might give me some of that knowledge. Thanks and keep it up!
Hi. In the description, there is a link to all of the books that helped me get the knowledge. Check it out. All of them are great! Thank you!
3RD?!?!?!?!? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Always with the fastest ones!
Happy Birthday!! 🙂
Thank you, Christine! 🤩
@@robifiser Your are so welcome!!
Thank you so much!
@@KevinKos YW!! 🙂
Just came across your channel, looking forward to making this cocktail. What brand of Copper Boston shaker and bell jigger are you using?
In this one, I used Lumian bartool, but check out the link in the description for the bartools, similar, that ships worldwide and with a 10% discount.
Hi Kevin,
first of all I absolutely love your videos and you are a huge inspiration to me😁.
A small question, can I replace the sodium citrate with citric acid?
If so, should I double the amount since citric acid has half the ph?
Thank you. These two ingredients can be interchangeable with one another.
Great video something i definitely want to try out. With that in mind how long will the pearls last? I generally make drinks for my friends at there house and they live a little distance away so need to plan out best way to order and time everything. (I am guessing that due to there consistency and water content they would freeze badly)
Pearls last a couple of hours if stored in the same liquid as it's inside the pearls. In this case, pomegranates and creme de cassis. In this case, you can make it in advance and use it when your friend arrives. Cheers!
Happy Birthday !!!!
How long will the pearls last after making them ?
Use it in a couple of hours. It's best to store them in the juice. Thank you!
Thank you, Alexander! ☺️
Nice glasses
I wondered.. Is it possible to make sort of a super juice using something else than citrus ? Maybe like apples, berries ? Something that is either hard to get juice from or something from which the juice oxydizes quickly ?
Thanks for those recipes, I used to drink the Modern Tequila Sunrise until I discovered the original recipe from 1930, now the latter is my favourite one ! (Maybe until I'll try your new recipe ! :P )
I haven't tried it yet, but I assume it can be done. Thanks!
If you don't have the stuff to make the pearls, do you think a splash of pomegranate juice and creme de cassis with a few drops of rose water would be good?
Of course! Pearls are just for the presentation and experience.
Struggled with the boba. Used the same device but they came out looking like squashed fish rather than spheres (device also didn’t want to pull up the liquid). All said and done, my little dead fish didn’t seem to have much liquid in them. Advice?
At minute 4:30 until there you have 300ml, how much is 8% of Sodium Citrate in grams for 300ml?
and 5% of Sodium Citrate in grams for 300ml?
The back of that book made me fuck crack up! Hahaha
😂
Keen eye! 💦🍑🤣
Disco Elysium
Can i make these pearls out of wine?
yes, it's possible.
@@KevinKos i meant , i aslo need those ingredients?
